Unpacking the concept of "educators' data literacy in Higher Education" - Systematic Review of the literature and Keyword Map

As algorithmic decision-making and data collection become pervasive within higher education, how can educators make sense of the systems that shape life and learning in the 21st century? Through a systematic review of the literature, the paper investigates the gaps in the literature, which prevent the formulation of potential pathways and principles on which educators’ data literacy can - and should - be developed and fostered. The analysis of 137 papers through the methods of classification under relevant categories, and key words mapping, showed that there is little attention on HE teachers, and most approaches to educators’ data literacy address management and technical abilities for data processing, with less concern on critical, ethical and personal approaches to datafication in education.

The present dataset shows the full list of articles analysed.

The dataset, and ods file, is composed by the following sheets:

Codebook

List of articles extracted from SCOPUS

List of articles extracted from WOS

List of articles extracted from ERIC

List of articles extracted from DOAJ

Interrater Agreement

PRISMA workflow

Analysis - First Level (classification of 137 articles selected)

Analysis - Second Level (List of articles relating faculty development)

Supplementary tables (counting articles in relation to the categories of analysis).

As for the Keywords' Map, a second file .csv displays the text over which basis was performed the keyword maps analysis. A .txt file shows notes relating the analysis procedures using the software VOS-Viewer http://www.vosviewer.com/

Systematic map of literature on land use conflicts: Dataset

This dataset compiles the international, peer-reviewed literature on land use conflicts that was published between 2005 and 2020. It lists 306 publications and provides for each of them information regarding the research methods, research aims, covered land use types, covered geographical region, subject area, definition of "land use conflict", and conceptual approach. It can be used to identify publications on specified topics or combinations of topics, such as literature on land use conflicts in Africa regarding the land use type pastoralism. The ROSES for systematic map reports file provides information of how the systematic map was compiled and the list of unobtainable and excluded publications lists those publications that appeared in the initial database search but were not included in the mapping, with reasons for exclusion. More information on the dataset's creation, a detailed analysis, and interpretation are provided in the corresponding journal article:

Fienitz, Meike. 2023. "Taking stock of land use conflict research: A systematic map with special focus on conceptual approaches." Society & Natural Resources. http://dx.doi.org/10.1080/08941920.2023.2199380

Dataset - University Social Responsibility in the context of Social Appropriation of Knowledge: A Systematic Literature Mapping Approach (2015-2020)

From abstract:

University Social Responsibility (USR) should be seen beyond a yearly report and be understood as a process of Social Appropriation of Knowledge (SAK) though different stakeholders around higher education. The object of this literature mapping is to analyze the recent developments regarding USR regarding SAK in a higher education context where different stakeholders are involved. Following a PRISMA flow mapping process, six general-designed questions of 286 articles are revised for this paper as to discover how SAK happens within universities. All articles were retrieved from Scopus and Web of Sciences databases. The findings include a USR field divided between models´ approach and experience such as service-learning. Furthermore, sustainability and the environment take a special role within USR in the context of SAK that must be analyzed by itself as there is a wide interest in the topic.

Ecological impacts of photosynthetic light harvesting in changing aquatic environments: A systematic literature map

Underwater light is spatially as well as temporally variable and directly affects phytoplankton growth and competition. Here we systematically (following the guidelines of PRISMA-EcoEvo) searched and screened the published literature resulting in 640 individual articles. We mapped the conducted research for the objectives of (1) phytoplankton fundamental responses to light, (2) effects of light on the competition between phytoplankton species and (3) effects of climate change induced changes in the light availability in aquatic ecosystems. Among the fundamental responses of phytoplankton to light, the effects of light intensity (quantity, as measure of total photon or energy flux) were investigated in most identified studies. The effects of the light spectrum (quality) that via species-specific light absorbance result in direct consequences on species competition emerged more recently. Complexity in competition arises due to variability and fluctuations in light which effects are sparsely investigated on community level. Predictions regarding future climate change scenarios included changes in in stratification and mixing, lake and coastal ocean darkening, UV radiation, ice melting as well as light pollution which affect the underwater light-climate. Generalization of consequences is difficult due to a high variability, interactions of consequences as well as a lack in sustained timeseries and holistic approaches. Nevertheless, our systematic literature map, and the identified articles within, provide a comprehensive overview and shall guide prospective research.
