ChatGPT's responses to TUG-K 4.0 survey (October 2023)

This dataset was created in October 2023, after the initial public release of ChatGPT vision. It contains 60 completed Test of Understanding Graphs in Kinematics 4.0 (TUG-K 4.0) surveys. The responses are sorted by item number. An analysis of the responses was published in https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevPhysEducRes.20.010109

v2 of the dataset takes care of some accidentally duplicated responses present in v1. Because the analysis in the above cited paper used data directly out of the chatbot, the updates in no way impact the analysis or findings in the paper.

Gemini 1.0 Pro, Claude 3 Sonnet, Microsoft Copilot, and ChatGPT-4 responses on the Test of Understanding Graphs in Kinematics (TUG-K), April 2024

The data contains 30 responses from each chatbot to 26 items on the TUG-K survey. The chatbots tested were Google Gemini (freely available version, Gemini Pro 1.0), Claude 3 Sonnet, Microsoft Copilot (freely available version, balanced setting) and ChatGPT-4 (subscription-based, ChatGPT Plus). The prompts consisted of screenshots of the test items and the sentence "Answer the question in the image" for Copilot and Gemini 1.0 Pro. For Claude 3 Sonnet and ChatGPT-4 the prompt consisted of the screenshot only. The data was collected in April 2024.

The data is a continuation of the research data on ChatGPT-4's performance on the TUG-K (10.5281/zenodo.10429075).

ChatGPT-4o, Claude 3 Opus, Gemini 1.0 Ultra, Gemini 1.5 Pro, and ChatGPT-4 responses on the Test of Understanding Graphs in Kinematics (TUG-K), April 2024

The chatbots tested were Google's Gemini 1.0 Ultra, Google's Gemini 1.5 Pro (prompted through Google AI studio using default settings), Anthropic's Claude 3 Opus, OpenAI's ChatGPT-4o (using the latest model GPT-4o) and OpenAI's ChatGPT-4 (using the GPT-4 model). The prompts consisted only of screenshots of the test items. For Gemini 1.0 Ultra, the image was accompanied by the sentence "Answer the question in the image".

The data, collected in April 2024, contains 30 responses from each chatbot to 26 items on the TUG-K survey. For ChatGPT using the GPT-4 model (ChatGPT-4), we provide two separate datasets. One complete dataset (all TUG-K items) without the use "advanced data analysis" plugin, and one with only those six items where the "advanced data analysis" plugin was automaticaly used by the chatbot. These two datasets partially overlap with the ChatGPT-4 dataset published previously (see link below).

This dataset focuses on subscription-based chatbots and is a continuation of a previous dataset that focused on freely available chatbots(10.5281/zenodo.11183803).

Data from: Ploidy tug-of-war: evolutionary and genetic environments influence the rate of ploidy drive in a human fungal pathogen
Variation in baseline ploidy is seen throughout the tree of life, yet the factors that determine why one ploidy level is maintained over another remain poorly understood. Experimental evolution studies using asexual fungal microbes with manipulated ploidy levels intriguingly reveals a propensity to return to the historical baseline ploidy, a phenomenon that we term 'ploidy drive'. We evolved haploid, diploid, and polyploid strains of the human fungal pathogen Candida albicans under three different nutrient limitation environments to test whether these conditions, hypothesized to select for low ploidy levels, could counteract ploidy drive. Strains generally maintained or acquired smaller genome sizes size (measured as total nuclear DNA through flow cytometry) in minimal medium and under phosphorus depletion compared to in a complete medium, while mostly maintained or acquired increased genome sizes under nitrogen depletion. Improvements in fitness often ran counter to changes in genome size; in a number of scenarios lines that maintained their original genome size often increased in fitness more than lines that converged towards diploidy. Combined, this work demonstrates a role for both the environment and genotype in determination of the rate of ploidy drive, and highlights questions that remain about the force(s) that cause genome size variation.
