Effects of the type of lunch meal and teaching-learning methods on CRI student engagement in afternoon classes.

The post-lunch slump is a natural dip in energy caused not only by our circadian cycles but also as a result of digestive processes in our body after consuming lunch meals. It being a widely known concept, there are ample studies that focus on its effects on academic performance of students. While this dip in energy does affect student engagement to a large extent, there are also studies on how the teaching-learning methods are a factor affecting academic performance. However, there are no relevant studies that aim to look at both these factors in tandem, i.e. the effect of lunch along with the teaching-learning methods in the afternoon classrooms as factors influencing academic performance and student engagement. This paper aims to study this area of topic hypothesising that having a more balanced lunch along with engaging in more interactive classes would positively correlate with student engagement in afternoon classes. The study was conducted with bachelors and masters students at the CRI, University of Paris through surveys that were sent to students at the end of their class day.

Due to lack of adequate data, the study was not able to produce significant correlations. However smaller nuances of the relationship between lunch, teaching-learning methods and student engagement were found. While engagement in classrooms did seem to be maximum when it was interactive and only 50% of students' lunch was formed of carbohydrates, no significant correlations were found to confirm the hypotheses.

BRAIN Journal-ANNSVM: A Novel Method for Graph-Type Classification by Utilization of Fourier Transformation, Wavelet Transformation, and Hough Transformation-Figure 10. Detailed accuracy separated by classes and a confusion matrix which belongs to the dataset of Coiflet 1 applied by our main method (ANNSVM)

With regard to accuracy values of each class as presented in Figure 10, we observed that the accuracy of the two-dimensional chart class was the lowest (i.e., 0.875), while others were over 0.9. Results here suggested that both the bar and pie classes have their own unique characteristics, as opposed to the 2Dchart class. For example, the graph images that contained some rectangles were individually categorized in the bar graph class. A similar phenomenon occurred for circles in the pie chart class. In contrast, the 2Dchart class contained mixed types of graphs; hence, the graph characteristics belonging to the 2Dchart class varied.

Datasets for feature-specific class prediction, from readings in several cell-types.

The cell-types featured here are A549, H1ESC, HeLa, IMR90, K562, and MCF7. These happen to be the 6 cell-types out of 8 existing in our integrative database, GREG (https://doi.org/10.1093/database/baz162). The normalized read-coverages from features (variables) like DNA-Protein bindings, histone modifications; ChIP-Seq data, are mapped through genomic intervals of 2 Kbs, genome-wide. These genomic intervals (technically bins), are classified as Hubs or Non-Hubs. Hubs are those bins that are engaged in genomic crosstalk at a distance of 1Mb or Inf., and are Non-Hubs otherwise.

Note that features are inconsistent across different cell-types, due to the availability of data. The BAM files have been sourced from ENCODE and NCBI repositories. Also, the users might want to use unique() in R or something similar to refine the datasets for non-redundant instances (if existing).

The analysis following this data can be tracked at https://github.com/mora-lab/GREG-Hubs.
