Summertime methane and carbon dioxide emission rates and associated variables from a national-scale survey of 146 reservoirs in the United States, 2016-2023
Reservoirs are globally important sources of greenhouse gases, but the magnitude of their emissions is highly uncertain. Here we present data for 146 reservoirs from two surveys of reservoir methane and carbon dioxide emissions, one at the regional scale in the midwestern United States and one at the national scale in the conterminous United States, plus data from one reservoir in Washington and another in Puerto Rico. At all reservoirs, ebullitive and diffusive emissions and basic physiochemistry were measured at 15-70 locations during one 22 to 64-hour period during the summers of 2016-2023, with four reservoirs revisited a second time. Concomitant water chemistry measurements were also made at an index site. The dataset is comprised of two geospatial files and seven .csv files containing greenhouse gas emissions, water chemistry, morphology, and other relevant data. These data comprise the largest multi-reservoir emissions dataset ever assembled using consistent measurement methods.

<p>Maps of the land productivity dynamic (LPD) based on approaches recommended by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) for the Brazilian Semiarid Region for the period 2001-2015. LPD from Trends.Earth (TE), LPD from the Joint Research Center (JRC-LPD), and LPD from the Food and Agriculture Organization – World Overview of Conservation Approaches and Technologies (FAO-WOCAT LPD). In addition, TE-based LPD with climate correction based on Rain Use Efficiency (RUE), Residual Trend Analysis (RESTREND), and Water Use Efficiency (WUE) calculated using the procedures described in the second version of the Good Practice Guidance for SDG Indicator 15.3.1. Highlights from 10+ years of lichenological research in Great Smoky Mountains National Park: celebrating the United States National Park Service Centennial
<p>Great Smoky Mountains National Park is renowned as one of the most biologically diverse tracts of land in North America and is the most visited national park in the United States. The park comprises ∼830 square miles, epitomizes eastern temperate hardwood forests of North America, and serves as a refuge for nearly 20,000 documented species from microbes to plants and mammals. Lichens comprise one particularly diverse group of organisms in the park. In this study, we review data from our 11 years of lichenological research in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Based on approximately 6,000 new field collections generated, the park checklist now includes 920 species, a 129% increase over estimates made two decades ago. Nearly a quarter of the lichens reported in the park are known from only a single occurence whereas only 7% of the lichens are known from 20 or more occurences. An assessment of commonness/rarity for all 920 species indicates that nearly half of the park's lichens should be considered to be infrequent, rare, or exceptionally rare. We assessed the distributions of all 920 species and found that 54 are endemic to the southeastern United States, 30 are endemic to the southern Appalachians, and eight occur nowhere else than within the confines of the national park. We discuss biogeographical affinities of the park's lichen biota as a whole, delimiting six regional "floristic" connections. Our 11 years of research have resulted in the discovery of several species presumed to be extinct or near-extinct. We make one new combination (<em><strong>Fuscopannaria frullaniae</strong></em>) and describe five species as new to science, each commemorating National Park Service staff instrumental to the completion of the study: <em><strong>Heterodermia langdoniana</strong></em>, <em><strong>Lecanora darlingiae</strong></em>, <em><strong>Lecanora sachsiana</strong></em>, <em><strong>Leprocaulon nicholsiae,</strong></em> and <em><strong>Pertusaria superiana</strong></em>.</p>
United Nations Security Council Resolutions, 1946-2019
<p>This dataset contains all Security Council resolutions from 1946-2019 in PDF format, as they are provided by the United Nations through their Official Documents System. As of 31 December 2019, the Security Council has adopted 2503 resolutions. The PDFs are provided "as is". For the purposes of automatic text analysis/corpus building, the following notes might be important, without claiming to be exhaustive: </p> <p>- each resolution is consecutively numbered (1-2503, with year in brackets) and preceded by S/RES/.</p> <p>- UN Official Documents are electronically published since 1993/1994. PDFs prior to 1994 might not be readable. </p> <p>- Documents prior to 1994 are usually provided as scanned documents without OCR. The EcoTrends project was established in 2004 by Dr. Debra Peters (Jornada Basin LTER, USDA-ARS Jornada Experimental Range) and Dr. Ariel Lugo (Luquillo LTER, USDA-FS Luquillo Experimental Forest) to support the collection and analysis of long-term ecological datasets. The project is a large synthesis effort focused on improving the accessibility and use of long-term data. At present, there are ~50 state and federally funded research sites that are participating and contributing to the EcoTrends project, including all 26 Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) sites and sites funded by the USDA Agriculture Research Service (ARS), USDA Forest Service, US Department of Energy, US Geological Survey (USGS) and numerous universities. Data from the EcoTrends project are available through an exploratory web portal (http://www.ecotrends.info). This web portal enables the continuation of data compilation and accessibility by users through an interactive web application. Ongoing data compilation is updated through both manual and automatic processing as part of the LTER Provenance Aware Synthesis Tracking Architecture (PASTA). The web portal is a collaboration between the Jornada LTER and the LTER Network Office. The following dataset from California Current Ecosystem (CCE) contains mean sea level: the arithmetic mean of hourly heights observed over the National Tidal Datum Epoch (as defined by NOAA) measurements in meter units and were aggregated to a monthly timescale.
