User requirements of Big Earth Data - Survey 2019
<p>The survey was conducted between November 2018 and May 2019 with the aim to find out how users working with large volumes of environmental data interact with data, what challenges they face and how they would like to use cloud-based data services in the future.</p> <p>The term Big Earth Data in this context refers to digital information about Earth, including observations, imagery, derived higher-level products, forecasts and analyses produced by computer models.</p> <p>The survey was conducted in collaboration with the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and as part of a PhD thesis on "Big Data technologies for environmental and climate data" at University of Marburg, Germany.</p> <p>The results are published in form of two articles:</p> <ul> <li>Wagemann, J., Siemen, S., Seeger, B. and J. Towards a Data-Driven Requirements Engineering Approach: Automatic Analysis of User Reviews
<p>6000 French user reviews from three applications on Google Play (Garmin Connect, Huawei Health, Samsung Health) are labelled manually. CLS INFRA T3.5 Interviews: Understanding User Requirements Beyond Academia
<p>The CLS INFRA research team at Trinity College Dublin, Jennifer Edmond, Associate Professor at Trinity College Dublin and the director of the Trinity Centre for Digital Humanities, and Vera Yakupova, Research Assistant at the Trinity Centre for Digital Humanities, conducted in the framework of the project a series of 15 focussed interviews with professionals beyond academia to understand user needs for computational literary studies beyond academia, and to develop user scenarios in this respect.</p> <p>This task’s team works closely with Work Packages 2 and 3 to profile potential users of infrastructure for literary analysis from beyond the academic sphere, as maximising use and impact is a key driver for sustainability. CLS INFRA has great potential to contribute to the work of many professions, and take advantage of the opportunity to maximise the use and impact of the infrastructure would function as a key driver for sustainability. The gap to be bridged, however, is in the understanding of what these non-professional researchers would need in terms of support and contextualisation of materials in order to be able to use them. Based on research into applied uses of literature (fiction), narratives, and storytelling, we profiled potential users of infrastructure for literary analysis from beyond the academic sphere. The research findings are detailed in our Report "D3.5 User needs beyond academic research for Computational Literary Analysis". </p> <p>This dataset includes transcripts of the 15 interviews with and without mark ups. For context and as supporting information for this research, the dataset also includes a documentation on the interviews ("Documentation: 'Users Beyond Academia' Interview Dataset"), a summary of the interview report ("3.5 Interview Report Summary"), and the presentation on this research at the DH2023 conference, July 10-14, in Graz, Austria.</p>
INVITE: User needs and requirements
<p>This data was collected during the qualitative interview-based survey that was conducted in the framework of INVITE, which aimed at revealing the needs and requirements of prospective users and stakeholders of the OI2 Lab. In particular, a stratified purposeful sampling methodology was employed in order to include diverse OI stakeholders of the quadruple helix (i.e. from businesses and investors in the private sector over to academia and public authorities as well as civil society) and across different regions in Europe. Data in the form of interview transcripts was collected by means of semi-structured interviews and encompass information on the different ways in which OI actors are currently engaged (or not) in OI, various enablers / barriers that appear to be fostering / hindering their participation in OI as well as insights into the perceived knowledge, skills and support that they may need in order to successfully adopt and apply OI.</p>

Automatic Classification of Non-functional Requirements in App User Reviews Based on System Model and Artificial Intelligence
<p>This is the replication package for the paper: "Automatic Classification of Non-functional Requirements in App User Reviews Based on System Model and Artificial Intelligence". It contains the dataset of our experiment for the replication by other researchers. Data from: Managing hydropower dam releases for water users and imperiled fishes with contrasting thermal habitat requirements
1) The construction of dams on large rivers has negative impacts on native species. Environmental flows have been proposed as a tool to mitigate these impacts, but in order for these strategies to be effective they must account for disparate temperature and flow needs of different species. 2) We applied a multi-objective approach to identify tradeoffs in dam release discharge and temperature for imperiled warm- and cold-water fishes while simultaneously meeting the needs of human water users. 3) Using the Sacramento River (California, USA) as a case study, our model suggests that current management aimed at conserving an endangered cold-water species (winter-run Chinook salmon; Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) and providing high discharge for downstream water users has detrimental impacts on a threatened warm-water species (green sturgeon; Acipenser medirostris). 4) We developed an optimal dam release scenario that can be used to meet the needs of salmon, sturgeon, and human water users. Our results show that dam releases can be managed to successfully achieve these multiple objectives in all but the most severe drought years. Synthesis and applications This study shows that managing dam releases to meet the needs of a single species can have detrimental effects on other native species with different flow and temperature requirements. We applied a multi-objective approach to balance environmental requirements of multiple species with the needs of human water users. Our findings can be used to guide management of Shasta Dam and our approach can be applied to achieve multi-object management goals in other impounded rivers beyond California's Sacramento River.
