Watch it here: https://youtu.be/fOG5U2QweBo</p> <p>In research guided by responsible research and innovation (RRI), members of society work with scientists to align both the entire research process and its results with societal needs. The researcher and the research institute or research funder turn openly to citizens and involve the relevant societal actors in formulating research questions and collecting and analysing data. In RRI-guided research, scientists never forget to ask themselves: will our research do good to society and the Earth? What will its long-term social, ethical, and ecological consequences be? If a researcher or research-performing organisation integrates responsibility into their work, they will feel more useful and impactful in their profession, all in order to improve the lives of their fellow human and non-human beings. For this reason, it is important for researchers to reflect on their own organisational operations and change their daily routines. This is exactly what the Co-Change Project started to experiment with. In order to raise awareness of RRI, the project initiated ongoing deliberation within and beyond its own organisations through discussing ethics, gender, and open-science-related topics that engage all units that deal with research and innovation, as well as involving external experts and stakeholders in co-creating change.</p> <p> </p>

SCoRe - Student Crowd Research. A german dataset of university students' written reflections on their participation in collaborative research-based learning focused on sustainability topics and using videos as a research tool.
<p>Schriftliche Reflexionen von 57 Studierenden als Prüfungsleistung im Rahmen des forschenden Lernens mit Video zu Nachhaltigkeitsthemen. Die Reflexionen wurden durch vorgegebene Fragen angeleitet. Die hier vorliegenden Texte sind, von den Studierenden selbst niedergeschriebene, Transkripte von Sprechtexten eines Self-Video-Casts. Es handelt sich dabei um eine benotete Prüfungsleistung einer universitätsübergreifenden Wahlpflicht-Lehrveranstaltung mit 1-3 Credit-Points.</p> <p>A dataset containing written reflections of 57 university students from several German universities and fields of study on their participation in collaborative research-based learning focused on sustainability topics and using videos as a research tool. These reflections were guided by given questions. The texts presented here are transcripts of spoken texts of self-video-casts, written down by the students themselves. The texts were graded as part of an inter-university elective course worth 1-3 credit points.</p>
Motivations for citing research in comments to YouTube videos
<p><strong>This dataset includes 300 YouTube comments that link to research publications or preprints. Each comment has been assigned into one category that define why individuals mention scholarly publications in comments to YouTube videos. </strong></p> <p>Each row of the file "Categories_300random.xlsx" represents one distinct comment to YouTube video.<br> The file includes the following columns:</p> <ul> <li><strong>Comment_text </strong>- the full text of a comment,</li> <li><strong>YouTube_link </strong>- URL to the video where the comment was left,</li> <li><strong>Comment_link </strong>- URL to the thread with the comment,</li> <li><strong>Category </strong>- the final category that was assigned to the comment,</li> <li>Columns <strong>Category_old_schema_SS</strong>, <strong>Category_old_schema_IP</strong>, <strong>Category_old_schema_OZ </strong>- categories assigned by different researchers according to old categorization schema and were used for validation reasons,</li> <li>Columns <strong>Category_OZ</strong>, and <strong>Caregory_LB </strong>- categories assigned by different researchers according to the final schema and were used for validation.<br> <br> </li> </ul>

Given the ReSA mission, it is important to understand the landscape of communities involved with research software. In 2020, ReSA completed an initial exercise to scope the international research software community landscape. This work was reported by ReSA's Software Landscape Analysis task force via a blog post. The majority of the communities in the previous analysis represented the global north. To improve the extent of this landscape analysis, ReSA announced a paid opportunity for short-term contractors located in the global south to collect data on communities and funders in their region in early 2022. This document describes how the work was undertaken, a summary of findings, the gaps and opportunities perceived by the data collectors and some highlights. This work identified 126 organisations and communities and 62 funder bodies that support research software in the global south. Open Access to Excellent Science - the European Research Council's approach (video recording)
<p>Video recording of a presentation given at the event 'Open Access: Authors, publishers, investors and institutions for the dissemination of the scientific research's results' that was organised by the Library of EPFL in the context of the Open Access Week 2013. The video includes the introduction of the presentation by EPFL Director, Dr. Isabelle Kratz.</p> <p><strong>Abstract</strong>: We will give an overview of the ERC's approach to Open Access, and how it is reflected in the rules governing the ERC grants under the current 7th EU Research Framework Programme. We will explain how the ERC supports its grantees in providing open access to their research results, and shed some light on the changes to be expected for the new EU Research Framework Programme, Horizon 2020, which will start on 1 January 2014. In doing so, we will also take a look at the different roles of the ERC and the European Commission concerning the promotion of Open Access, and explain some of the differences in approach.</p>
