WACCMX STORM QUIET TIME EDENS AND EXB
<p>This dataset is the WACCM-X model data for November 3 and 4 2021. It shows the electron density and E x B drift variation between 20:00 and 23:00 UT for both days.</p>
Data for WACCMX EIA
<p>This dataset is for the data that is used to generate the figures in the submitted paper to the AGU Advances: A Numerical Study of the Hemispherically Asymmetric Evolution of Nighttime Ionospheric Equatorial Ionization Anomaly in the American Longitude Sector Using the Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model-eXtended (WACCM-X).</p>
WACCMX DART Ionosphere Data Assimilation Observing System Simulation Experiment
This dataset contains output from the data assimilation version of the Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model with thermosphere-ionosphere eXtension (WACCMX DART). The dataset includes model output fields of electron column density, temperature, and zonal wind as well as DART observation space diagnostics. The results are based on a series of Observing System Simulation Experiments that are aimed at evaluating the assimilation of ionospheric observations in WACCMX DART. Included are files from the OSSE truth simulation, as well as from three experiments: Experiment 1: No ionosphere data assimilation. Experiment 2: Ionosphere data assimilation without thermosphere constraint. Experiment 3: Ionosphere data assimilation with thermosphere constraint. The dataset is in support of the publication "Assimilation of Ionosphere Observations in the Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model with thermosphere-ionosphere eXtension (WACCMX)".
Evaluation of Polar Winter Mesopause Wind in WACCMX+DART
<p>Daily average zonal mean WACCMX+DART output for select days in DJFM 2006-2019 and JJAS 2008-2017. The following variables are stored as a function of latitude, pressure level, and date:</p> <p>TP2D = "Temperature (K)"</p> <p>U2D = "Zonal Wind (m/s)"</p> <p>V2D = "Meridional Wind (m/s)"</p> <p>Z2D = "Geopotential Height (m)"</p> <p>BUTGWSPEC = "Beres (deep) U tendency - gravity wave spectrum" (m/s2) (Convective sources)</p> <p>CH4 = "CH4 concentration" (mol/mol)</p> <p>CO = "CO concentration" (mol/mol)</p> <p>NO = "NO concentration" (mol/mol)</p> <p>NOx = "NOx (N+NO+NO2)" (mol/mol)</p> <p>O = "O concentration" (mol/mol)</p> <p>O2 = "O2 concentration" (mol/mol)</p> <p>O3: = "O3 concentration" (mol/mol)</p> <p>OMEGA = "Vertical velocity (pressure)" (Pa/s)</p> <p>TTGW = "T tendency - gravity wave drag" (K/s)</p> <p>UTGWORO = "U tendency - orographic gravity wave drag" (m/s2)</p> <p>UTGWSPEC = "C&M U tendency - gravity wave spectrum" (m/s2) (Frontal Sources)</p> <p>VTGWORO = "V tendency - orographic gravity wave drag" (m/s2)</p> <p>VTGWSPEC = "C&M V tendency - gravity wave spectrum" (m/s2)</p>
WACCMX+DART output files associated with the publication "The Impact of Assimilating COSMIC-2 Observations of Electron Density in WACCMX"
<p>WACCMX+DART output files that are associated with the publication "The Impact of Assimilating COSMIC-2 Observations of Electron Density in WACCMX". Data files include DART diagnostics for the COSMIC-2 and Control experiments, as well as the vertical plasma drift velocities.</p>
WACCMX+DART 2009-2010 Hindcasts Experiments
The dataset consists of the median root mean square error and bias of a set of hindcast experiments performed using the Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model eXtended (WACCMX) with data assimilation from the Data Assimilation Research Testbed (DART). The WACCMX DART hindcast experiments were initialized on the 1st and 15th of every month in 2009 and 2010. The root mean square error and bias are calculated with respect to the Aura MLS satellite observations and WACCMX DART analysis fields. The dataset is in support of a publication submitted to the AGU journal Space Weather.
WACCMX DART 2010 Northern Hemisphere Winter Temperature and Wind
The dataset contains hourly simulation output from the Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model with thermosphere-ionosphere eXtension (WACCMX) with data assimilation from the Data Assimilation Research Testbed (DART) ensemble Kalman filter. Results are based on the ensemble mean of 40 WACCMX DART ensemble members. The dataset covers the time period of December 2009 to March 2010, and includes the WACCMX DART temperature and wind fields. The data are in support of publication "Intercomparison of Middle Atmospheric Meteorological Analyses for the Northern Hemisphere Winter 2009-2010."
