Tomographic X-ray data of carved cheese
<p>This is an open-access dataset of tomographic X-ray data of a carved cheese. The dataset consists of</p> <ul> <li>the X-ray sinogram of a single 2D slice of the cheese slice with three different resolutions, and</li> <li>the corresponding measurement matrices modeling the linear operation of the X-ray transform.</li> </ul> <p>Each of the sinograms was obtained from a measured 360-projection fan-beam sinogram by down-sampling and taking logarithms. The original (measured) sinogram is also provided in its original form and resolution.</p> <p>Documentation of the dataset is available at <a href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1705.05732">arxiv.org/abs/1705.05732</a>. Tomographic X-ray data of a walnut
<p>This is an open-access dataset of tomographic X-ray data of a walnut. The dataset consists of the X-ray sinogram of a single 2D slice of the walnut with three different resolutions and the corresponding measurement matrices modeling the linear operation of the X-ray transform. Each of these sinograms was obtained from a measured 120-projection fan-beam sinogram by down-sampling and taking logarithms. The original (measured) sinogram is also provided in its original form and resolution.</p> <p>In addition, a larger set of 1200 projections of the same walnut was measured and a high-resolution filtered back-projection reconstruction was computed from this data; both the sinogram and the FBP reconstruction are included in the dataset, the latter serving as a ground truth reconstruction.</p> <p>Documentation of the dataset is available at <a href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1502.04064">arxiv.org/abs/1502.04064</a>. Tomographic X-ray data of time-dependent 3D cross phantom
<p>This is the documentation of the tomographic X-ray data of a dynamic cross phantom made available at http://www.fips.fi/dataset.php. The data can be freely used for scientific purposes with appropriate references to the data and to this document in http://arxiv.org/. The data set consists of (1) the X-ray sinogram with 16 or 30 time frames (depending on resolution) of 2D slices of the cross phantom, made by crossing aluminum and graphite sticks in melted candle wax and (2) the corresponding static and dynamic measurement matrices modeling the linear operation of the X-ray transform. Each of these sinograms was obtained from a measured 360-projection fan-beam sinogram by down-sampling and taking logarithms. The original (measured) sinogram is also provided in its original form and resolution.</p> <p>This new version contains added file <a href="https://zenodo.org/api/files/5c00de09-bb57-4c9e-9beb-00c63358de3c/DataStatic_560x60.mat?versionId=1e53d43d-d999-435e-bb1c-8297cf32c984">DataStatic_560x60.mat </a> with 80 time frames and <a href="https://zenodo.org/api/files/5c00de09-bb57-4c9e-9beb-00c63358de3c/DataStatic_1120x60.mat?versionId=afded407-6c88-4880-b427-fe7fd09306f4">DataStatic_1120x60.mat </a> with 230 time frames. You can run these files with the code example 2, which computes a Tikhonov regularized reconstruction using conjugate gradient algorithm.</p>

Data from: Synchrotron X-ray tomographic microscopy of fossil embryos
Fossilized embryos from the late Neoproterozoic and earliest Phanerozoic have caused much excitement because they preserve the earliest stages of embryology of animals that represent the initial diversification of metazoans. However, the potential of this material has not been fully realized because of reliance on traditional, non-destructive methods that allow analysis of exposed surfaces only, and destructive methods that preserve only a single two-dimensional view of the interior of the specimen. Here, we have applied synchrotron-radiation X-ray tomographic microscopy (SRXTM), obtaining complete three-dimensional recordings at submicrometre resolution. The embryos are preserved by early diagenetic impregnation and encrustation with calcium phosphate, and differences in X-ray attenuation provide information about the distribution of these two diagenetic phases. Three-dimensional visualization of blastomere arrangement and diagenetic cement in cleavage embryos resolves outstanding questions about their nature, including the identity of the columnar blastomeres. The anterior and posterior anatomy of embryos of the bilaterian worm-like Markuelia confirms its position as a scalidophoran, providing new insights into body-plan assembly among constituent phyla. The structure of the developing germ band in another bilaterian, Pseudooides, indicates a unique mode of germ-band development. SRXTM provides a method of non-invasive analysis that rivals the resolution achieved even by destructive methods, probing the very limits of fossilization and providing insight into embryology during the emergence of metazoan phyla.
