Dataset Abstract Aerial photography is considered an important management tool in agriculture. Aerial photography allows researchers to detect spatial variability and understand the causes of the variability such as planter skips, drought stress, weeds and water erosion. In agricultural research it allows researchers to differentiate healthy vegetation from unhealthy and access plant biomass and moisture levels. Aerial photographs of Atlantic walruses subspecies Odobenus rosmarus rosmarus on Matveev Island

<p>The dataset represents aerial photographs taken from a UAV on Matveev Island, Russian Federation. There are a total of <strong>197</strong> images with a minimum resolution of <strong>1632x1088</strong> and a maximum of <strong>5472x3648</strong> (WxH). The main directory <strong>"walruses"</strong> contains three directories (<strong>"images", "markup", "masks"</strong>). The data is marked for instance segmentation in the form of <strong>json</strong> files. The minimum number of objects per image is <strong>22</strong>, and the maximum is <strong>948</strong>.</p>

High-resolution digital elevation models and orthomosaics generated from historical aerial photographs (since the 1960s) of the Bale Mountains in Ethiopia

<p>This dataset&nbsp;contains the results of photogrammetric processing (Digital Elevation&nbsp;Models, Orthomosaics and&nbsp; subset data used for volumetric calculation and visualization) named: &ldquo;DEM_1967.7z&rdquo;: inside the zipped folder &ldquo;1967_DEM.tif&rdquo; (digital elevation model produced for the year 1967), &ldquo;DEM_1984.7z&rdquo;: inside the zipped folder &ldquo;1984_DEM.tif&rdquo; exist (digital elevation model produced for the year 1984).&nbsp;In addition, under&nbsp;&ldquo;1967_Orthomosaic.7z&quot; and &quot;1984_Orthomosaic.7z&rdquo; zipped folders, there are&nbsp;orthomosaic files produced namely,&nbsp;&ldquo;1967_orthomosaic.tif&rdquo; and&nbsp;&quot;1984_orthomosaic.tif&rdquo; for the year 1967 and 1984, respectively. The DEMs and Orthomosaics&nbsp;&nbsp;subset&nbsp;from the results for sites (data example 1 and data example 2)&nbsp;reside under &quot;Data_Examples.zip&quot;. Melt pond from aerial photographs of the Healy–Oden Trans Arctic Expedition (HOTRAX)

<p>The dataset contains mapped melt pond&nbsp;zones from&nbsp;aerial photographs&nbsp;which were&nbsp;obtained during helicopter photography flights as part of&nbsp;the Healy&ndash;Oden Trans Arctic Expedition (HOTRAX) between 5 August and 30 September 2005. The detection has been done&nbsp;using&nbsp;an&nbsp;original detection algorithm based on&nbsp;machine learning (U-Net). The areas in the images were divided into four classes: sea ice/snow, melt ponds, sub-merged ice and open water. The filenames contain IDs from the original dataset [Perovich et al 2008].</p>

ABoVE: Aerial Photographs of Frozen Lakes near Fairbanks, Alaska, October 2014

This dataset includes high resolution orthophotographs of 21 lakes in the region of Fairbanks, Alaska, USA. Aerial photographs were taken on October 8, 2014, three days after lake-ice formation. These photographs were used to identify open holes in lake ice that indicate the location of hotspot seeps associated with the releases of methane from thawing permafrost. Aerial photography can be used to measure changes in lake areas and to observe patterns in the formation of lake ice and other early winter lake conditions.

Aerial Photographs (from AMES Pilot Land Data System); USGS EDC, Sioux Falls

The aerial photography inventoried by the Pilot Land Data System (PLDS) at NASA AMES Research Center has been transferred to the USGS EROS Data Center. The photos were obtained from cameras mounted on high and medium altitude aircraft based at the NASA Ames Research Center. Several cameras with varying focal lengths, lenses and film formats are used, but the Wild RC-10 camera with a focal length of 152 millimeters and a 9 by 9 inch film format is most common. The positive transparencies are typically used for ancillary ground checks in conjunctions with digital processing for the same sites. The aircraft flights, specifically requested by scientists performing approved research, often simultaneously collect data using other sensors on board (e.g. Thematic Mapper Simulators (TMS) and Thermal Infrared Multispectral Scanners). High altitude color infrared photography is used regularly by government agencies for such applications as crop yield forecasting, timber inventory and defoliation assessment, water resource management, land use surveys, water pollution monitoring, and natural disaster assessment. To order, specify the latitude and longitude of interest. You will then be given a list of photos available for that location. In some cases, "flight books" are available at EDC that describe the nature of the mission during which the photos were taken and other attribute information. The customer service personnel have access to these books for those photo sets for which the books exist.
