<p>The audio files are supplementary files required for the audio article titled: "Propagation effects in the synthesis of wind turbine noise". Each audio file refers to a signal of a test obtained from the wind turbine noise model which is described in the article. </p> <p>The audio files can be read as: NNx-x-TETIN-eeeeeee.mp3</p> <p>NNx-x refers to the Test case and case number for the syntheisized trailing edge and turbulent inflow noise, eeeeeee is the description of the specific case.<br> (tauTT- angle of the receiver, ff - for free field, GPE for ground and propagation effects included, GPE_Turb for ground and propagation effects included with turbulence scattering)</p> <p>eg: C2-2-TETIN_tau80_GPE_Turb.mp3 is the synthesized sound for Test case C2-2 in the article which includes the ground and propagation effects and also scattering due to turbulence. The receiver is at an angle of 80° with respect to the wind direction. </p>
IDMT-SMT-Audio-Effects Dataset
<p>The IDMT-SMT-Audio-Effects database is a large database for automatic detection of audio effects in recordings of electric guitar and bass and related signal processing.</p> <p>The overall duration of the audio material is approx. 30 hours.</p> <p>The dataset consists of 55044 WAV files (44.1 kHz, 16bit, mono) with single recorded notes:</p> <ul> <li>20592 monophonic bass notes</li> <li>20592 monophonic guitar notes</li> <li>13860 polyphonic guitar sounds</li> </ul> <p>Overall, 11 different audio effects are incorporated:</p> <ul> <li>feedback delay</li> <li>slapback delay</li> <li>reverb</li> <li>chorus</li> <li>flanger</li> <li>phaser</li> <li>tremolo</li> <li>vibrato</li> <li>distortion</li> <li>overdrive</li> <li>no effect (unprocessed notes/sounds)</li> </ul> <p>2 different electric guitars and 2 different electric bass guitars, each with two different pick-up settings and up to three different plucking styles (finger plucked - hard, finger plucked - soft, picked) were used for recording.</p> <p>The notes cover the common pitch range of a 4-string bass guitar from E1 (41.2 Hz) to G3 (196.0 Hz) or the common pitch range of a 6-string electric guitar from E2 (82.4 Hz) to E5 (659.3 Hz).</p> <p>Effects processing was performed using a digital audio workstation and a variety of mostly freely available effect plugins.</p> <p>To organize the database, lists in XML format are used, which record all relevant information and are provided with the database as well as a summary of the used effect plugins and parameter settings.</p> <p>In addition, most of this information is also encoded in the first part of the file name of the audio files using a simple alpha-numeric encoding scheme. The second part of the file name contains unique identification numbers. This provides an option for fast and flexible structuring of the data for various purposes.</p>

Rocking math at school with hypnosis: Effective reduction of math test anxiety with an audio hypnosis intervention in a school setting
<p>Math as a school subject causes anxiety in many students. Previous results show that male and female students do not differ in their math performance. However, female students are more affected by math anxiety than male students, so that they might hesitate pursuing STEM careers. Actively<br> addressing math anxiety requires an intervention that reduces anxiety, changes attitude, and provides positive experiences. Hypnosis interventions are particularly suitable for this. Therefore, we developed a 30-minutes audio-hypnosis intervention and tested its effectiveness in this study. We randomly assigned students into an intervention group (N = 29) and a control group (N = 38). All students performed two real math tests at school. The intervention group listened at least once to the hypnosis audio intervention between both math tests. Immediately before each math test, we assessed state-math anxiety (measured with STAI-S). To investigate performance differences, we<br> analyzed students’ math performance scores in both math tests. Our results show that the hypnosis intervention led to a significant reduction in state-math anxiety, t(28) = 2.42, p = .022, Cohen`s dz = 0.45. Math performance did not differ significantly between math tests in the intervention group. Female students generally had higher trait math anxiety (as measured by SIMA scale) and showed a greater reduction in state math anxiety due to the hypnosis intervention, t(18) = 2.86, p = .010, Cohen`s dz = 0.66, compared to male students. It is possible that reduced state math anxiety could result in improved math performance in the long run. Overall, we conclude that our hypnosis intervention reduces math anxiety, especially in female students. Therefore, it is a promising method to promote especially females at an early point in their career and encourage them to choose STEM pathways. The final goal would be to establish hypnosis-based interventions at school encouraging students to activate their resources and develop their potential in all fields.</p>

<p>Audio files of the examples presented throughout the paper "Você + 2SG in Cabindan Portuguese (Angola): Two Effects of Language Contact" (accepted for publication in LaborHistórico). The audio excerpts are taken from my corpus of interviews in Cabinda, which will be made available soon. This fieldwork, conducted in compliance with ethical standards, was made possible through the assistance of the NGO <em>Ajuda de Desenvolvimento de Povo para Povo</em> and with the authorization of the <em>Secretaria Provincial da Cultura </em>in Cabinda.
