EvoBib: A Bibliographic Database and Quote Collection for Historical Linguistics

<p>This databases offers 4564 references dealing with computer-assisted language comparison in a broad sense. In addition, the database offers 8364 distinct quotes collected from 5063 references. The majority of the references in the quote database overlaps with those in the bibliographic database. Bibliographic dataset characterizing studies that use online biodiversity databases

<p>This dataset includes bibliographic information for 501 papers that were published from 2010-April 2017 (time of search) and&nbsp;use online biodiversity databases for research purposes. Our overarching goal in this study is to determine how research uses of biodiversity data&nbsp;developed&nbsp; during a time of unprecedented growth of online data resources. We also determine uses with the highest number of citations, how online occurrence data are linked to other data types, and if/how data quality is addressed. &nbsp;Specifically, we address the following questions:</p> <p>1.) What primary biodiversity databases have been cited in published research, and which</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;databases have been cited most often?</p> <p>2.) Is the biodiversity research community citing databases appropriately, and are</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;the cited databases currently accessible online?</p> <p>3.) What are the most common uses, general taxa addressed, and data linkages, and how &nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;have they changed over time?</p> <p>4.) What uses have the highest impact, as measured through the mean number of citations</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;per year?</p> <p>5.) Are certain uses applied more often for plants/invertebrates/vertebrates?</p> <p>6.) Are links to specific data types associated more often with particular uses?</p> <p>7.) How often are major data quality issues addressed?</p> <p>8.) What data quality issues tend to be addressed for the top uses? &nbsp;</p> <p>Relevant papers for this analysis include those that use online and openly accessible primary occurrence records, or those that add data to an online database. Google Scholar (GS) provides full-text indexing, which was important to identify data sources that often appear buried in the methods section of a paper. Our search was therefore restricted to GS. All authors discussed and agreed upon representative search terms, which were relatively broad to capture a variety of databases hosting primary occurrence records. The terms included: &ldquo;species occurrence&rdquo; database (8,800 results), &ldquo;natural history collection&rdquo; database (634 results), herbarium database (16,500 results), &ldquo;biodiversity database&rdquo; (3,350 results), &ldquo;primary biodiversity data&rdquo; database (483 results), &ldquo;museum collection&rdquo; database (4,480 results), &ldquo;digital accessible information&rdquo; database (10 results), and &ldquo;digital accessible knowledge&rdquo; database (52 results)--note that quotations are used as part of the search terms where specific phrases are needed in whole. We&nbsp; downloaded all records returned by each search (or the first 500 if there were more) into a Zotero reference management database. About one third of the 2500 papers in the final dataset were relevant. Three of the authors with specialized knowledge of the field characterized relevant papers using a standardized tagging protocol based on a series of key topics of interest. We developed a list of potential tags and descriptions for each topic, including: database(s) used, database accessibility, scale of study, region of study, taxa addressed, research use of data, other data types linked to species occurrence data, data quality issues addressed, authors, institutions, and funding sources. Each tagged paper was thoroughly checked by a second tagger.</p> <p>The final dataset of tagged papers allow us to quantify general areas of research made possible by the expansion of online species occurrence databases, and trends over time. Analyses of this data will be published in a separate quantitative review.</p>

IronRefs database of bibliographic data on remediation of contaminated environmental materials using zerovalent metals such as iron (ZVI)

<p>Database of bibliographic data for publications (journal articles, reports, patents, presentation abstracts, etc.) on the use of zerovalent metals (ZVMs)&mdash;especially zerovalent iron (ZVI)&mdash;for remediation or treatment of contaminated environmental materials (mainly groundwater, but also wastewater, soil, and sediment).</p> <p>The data were compiled and curated between 1996 and 2011 by members of the research group of Professor Paul G. Tratnyek at the Oregon Graduate Institute in Beaverton, Oregon, USA. At the beginning, the field was very small and most new work appeared first in gray-literature, so manual curation of the database made it a uniquely-valuable resource for the community.</p> <p>The original list of references was replaced with a searchable online database in 1998, which was named the &ldquo;IronRefs&rdquo; database and made available to all at&nbsp;<a href="http://cgr.ebs.ogi.edu/ironrefs/">http://cgr.ebs.ogi.edu/ironrefs/</a>. The database was updated periodically until 2011, by which time the field had grown so large that it was no longer practical to keep up with all of the new publications.</p> <p>The early development and impact of the IronRefs database was documented when it reached 500 records (Tratnyek, 2002) and when it reached 1000 records (Schneider et al., 2008). The former was published as an article in Groundwater Monitoring and Remediation (DOI: 10.1111/j.1745-6592.2002.tb00757.x) and the latter was given as a poster at the 6th International Conference on Chlorinated and Recalcitrant Compounds, Monterey, CA (PDF included here).</p> <p>In 2019, the server containing IronRefs was retired, so this unique resource became unavailable. In place of IronRefs, we provide here all of the data (2000+ records) in two tagged-field formats that are compatible with most bibliographic data management software: an EndNote compressed library (.enlx) and an RIS file (.ris). We also exported the data to a tab-delimited&nbsp;text file and provide that in .csv and .txt formats.</p> <p>Note that no new records were added to the IronRefs database after about mid-2011, so the value of the dataset provided here is largely historical. There are many newer publications that are relevant, and the literature on this topic continues to grow rapidly as of 2020.</p>

The Brill Knowledge Graph: A Database of Bibliographic References and Index Terms extracted from Books in Humanities and Social Sciences

<p>We present a complete dataset of linked bibliography and index data, partially disambiguated and augmented with references to external resources, extracted from the Brill&rsquo;s archive in the field of Classics. Processed book identifiers are listed in a separate&nbsp;text file. Text fragments extracted from different books via this process are then parsed and compared using a string-based similarity metric to form clusters of bibliographic references to the same published work or (variants of) the same subjects discussed in these books. China Dimensions Data Collection: China Maps Bibliographic Database

The China Maps Bibliographic Database is an historical collection of bibliographic information for more than 400 maps of China. The information resides in a searchable database and includes title, author/editor, publisher, location, projection, year, elevation, land cover type (forest, desert, marsh/swamp, grassland), vegetation, transportation (roads, railroads), rivers and lakes, spatial coverage (provincial, county, township), and language for maps published from 1765 to 1994. The information is available in both English and Chinese (GB Code for Chinese Characters). This data set is produced in collaboration with the University of Washington as part of the China in Time and Space (CITAS) project and the Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN).
