Dataset from "In silico assessment of collateral eddy current heating in biocompatible implants subjected to magnetic hyperthermia treatments"

<p>This dataset from the publication entitled &quot;Dataset from &quot;In silico assessment of collateral eddy current heating in biocompatible implants subjected to magnetic hyperthermia treatments&quot; contains simulated data of magnetic hyperthermia treatments for three different indications: colorectal cancer, prostate cancer and head &amp; neck cancer. Since the aim of the study is to evaluate the risk of thermal damage caused by the collateral heating of two common types of passive prostheses (hip and dental implants), eddy currents induced in these implants upon interacting with the externally applied ac field during treatment have been computed for all the evaluated regions. Two different&nbsp;alloys for the implants have been considered for each case as well: Ti6Al4V and CoCrMo. At the same time, besides temperature, the specific abosorption rate (SAR) have been also computed to work out the energy deposition in tissues.</p> <p>Calculations have been carried out using a het exchange model with and without thermoregulation.</p> <p>log-log SAR vs T plots have been obtained and proposed as a quick means to pre-check treatment feasibility in each patient. These graphs are thought to be included in treatment planning prior to the clinical procedure.</p> <p>Other parameters taken into account have been the treatment time (5 and 30 minutes), and the maximum tolerable temperature threshold (1 or 5 &ordm;C, as indicated by the ICNIRP commission), all for three main types of tissues, namely fat, bone and muscle. Each tissue have been simulated using three&nbsp;different field intensities&nbsp;(5, 10 and 15 mT).</p> <p>The field frequency has been 300 kHz in all cases.</p> <p>The files &quot;Dataset_description.doc&quot; and &quot;file_scheme.txt&quot; contain&nbsp;the structure and description of the files that make up the dataset.</p> <p>UPDATES FROM PREVIOUS VERSIONS: simulations of the dental implant without&nbsp;thermoregulation have been added.</p>

Pravdivtsev</p> <p>In the upload the figures 2 - 6 are covered, so all figures from the main manuscript with acquired data.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Original abstract for the manuscript:</p> <p>Dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (dDNP) increases the sensitivity of magnetic resonance imaging by more than 10,000 times enabling <em>in vivo</em> metabolic imaging can be performed non-invasively in real-time. Here, we are developing a group of dDNP polarized tracers based on nicotinamide (NAM). We synthesized 1-<sup>15</sup>N-NAM and 1-<sup>15</sup>N nicotinic acid and hyperpolarized them with dDNP, reaching (13.0&plusmn;1.9)% <sup>15</sup>N polarization. We found that the lifetime of hyperpolarized 1-<sup>15</sup>N-NAM is strongly field- and pH-dependent, with T<sub>1</sub> being as long as 41&nbsp;s at a pH of 12 and 1&nbsp;T while as short as a few seconds at neutral pH and fields below 1&nbsp;T. The remarkably short 1-<sup>15</sup>N lifetime at low magnetic fields and neutral pH drove us to establish a unique pH neutralization procedure. Using <sup>15</sup>N dDNP and an inexpensive rodent imaging probe designed in-house, we acquired a <sup>15</sup>N MRI of 1-<sup>15</sup>N-NAM (previously hyperpolarized for more than an hour) in less than one second.</p>

We establish intravascular and multivascular design freedoms with photopolymerizable hydrogels using food dye additives as biocompatible yet potent photoabsorbers for projection stereolithography. We demonstrate monolithic transparent hydrogels produced in minutes comprising efficient intravascular 3D fluid mixers and functional bicuspid valves. We further elaborate entangled vascular networks from space-filling mathematical topologies and explore the oxygenation and flow of human red blood cells during tidal ventilation and distension of a proximate airway. In addition, we deployed structured biodegradable hydrogel carriers in a rodent model of hepatic disease to highlight the potential translational utility of this materials innovation.</p>

Toward Understanding Drug Incorporation and Delivery from Biocompatible Metal-Organic Frameworks in View of Cutaneous Administration

<p>Although metal&minus;organic frameworks (MOFs) have widely<br> demonstrated their convenient performances as drug-delivery systems, there is<br> still work to do to fully understand the drug incorporation/delivery processes<br> from these materials. In this work, a combined experimental and<br> computational investigation of the main structural and physicochemical<br> parameters driving drug adsorption/desorption kinetics was carried out. Two<br> model drugs (aspirin and ibuprofen) and three water-stable, biocompatible<br> MOFs (MIL-100(Fe), UiO-66(Zr), and MIL-127(Fe)) have been selected to<br> obtain a variety of drug&minus;matrix couples with different structural and<br> physicochemical characteristics. This study evidenced that the drug-loading<br> and drug-delivery processes are mainly governed by structural parameters<br> (accessibility of the framework and drug volume) as well as the MOF/drug<br> hydrophobic/hydrophilic balance. As a result, the delivery of the drug under<br> simulated cutaneous conditions (aqueous media at 37 &deg;C) demonstrated that<br> these systems fulfill the requirements to be used as topical drug-delivery systems, such as released payload between 1 and 7 days.<br> These results highlight the importance of the rational selection of MOFs, evidencing the effect of geometrical and chemical<br> parameters of both the MOF and the drug on the drug adsorption and release.</p>
