Boiler from the puffer "VIC 32"
A steam vertical crosstube marine boiler removed from the Puffer *VIC 32* during a refurbishment. This boiler was built by Cochran & Co of Annan in 1942-43. All fitting such as gauges, dials and pipes have been removed and been used on the replacement boiler fitted in the puffer. Boilers do not last forever and periodically need replacing. *VIC 32* is unusual as it was never converted to from steam to diesel, which was cheaper and more efficient. The site is home the remains of a fort built by the British in 1815 and was occupied by a fugitive slave community for several years before the U.S. Army used it as a fort due to its strategic importance.
