SKY-LAUT – Carriage-based laser scanner data from Austrian forest stands

This dataset contains 3D point clouds, automatically calculated single tree parameters, reference data, and application videos of carriage-based laserscanning in cable yarding operations. Point clouds from 8 cable corridors and 4 scan varaints are provided in .las format in the folder point_clouds.zip. The individual files are labeled with numeric cable corridor IDs and scan variant IDs. According to standard conventions, a .las file contains a header block, variable-length records, and the point cloud data. The .las files can be read, visualized, and processed with common software programs for point cloud processing (e.g., CloudCompare), and they can also be handled with the free statistical software (e.g., R Foundation for Statistical Computing, Vienna, Austria). The reference and algorithm dataset is provided in a comma-separated values (CSV) file (algorithm_results_reference_data.csv ) and contains the manual and automatic measurements of the single-tree attributes. "stand_id" marks the stand (can be stand_1 or stand_2). "cable_corridor" can range from 1 to 8 and "scan_variant" from 1 to 4. "tree_id_ref" is a continuous id for the trees from the reference data collection. "x_ref", "y_ref", "dbh_ref", "h_ref" and "tree_species" are the coordinates, diameter at breast heigths, tree heights and tree species from the reference data collection. "x_cbls", "y_cbls", "dbh_ref" and "h_cbls" are the coordinates, diameter at breast heigth, tree height and tree species from carriage-based laser scanning point clouds and the automatic algorithm. "dist_to_skyline" is the orthogonal distance from the tree to the skyline. "tree_detection" indicates whether a tree was detected "correct", "non" oder "false" by the automatic algorithm.

RNLB Jane Anne with a transporting carriage

RNLB *Jane Anne* is an important survivor from Irvine's past, and a rare example of its type in Scotland. It's a double-ended, self-righting, pulling and sailing lifeboat, which was based at the town's RNLI station. It was manned mainly by the locally renowned Sinclair family and participated in seven rescues, saving 12 lives. Built in 1898 by the Thomas Ironworks Co. in Millwall, London, *Jane Anne* began operating out of Irvine shortly afterwards and remained in use there until the station closed in 1914. Rescue boats like *Jane Anne* were sitting outside of water on life-boat transporting carriages. This meant that vessels could be moved to the required location at the harbour and then launched. The "Tipping's Plates" surrounding the wheels, facilitated the transport of the boat in cases where long stretches of soft sand had to be traversed before deep enough water was reached allowing the vessel to float. The model was created as a part of 'Scanning The Horizon' 3D Digitisation Project. Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Dataset of biomechanical effects of the addition of a precision constraint on a collective load carriage task

Team lifting is a complex and collective motor task that possesses both motor and cognitive components. We study the collective load carriage adaptation due to an additional accuracy constraint. Ten dyads performed a first condition in which they collectively transported a load (CC), and a second one in which they transported the same load while maintaining a ball in a target position on its top (PC). The recovery-rate, amplitude, and period of the center-of-mass of the whole system (dyad + table, CoMPACS) were computed. We analyzed the forces and moments exerted at each joint of the upper limbs of the subjects. We observed a decrease in the overall performance of the dyads when the Precision task was added, i.e., i) the velocity and amplitude of CoMPACS decreased by 1,7% and 5,8%, respectively, ii) inter-subject variability of the Moment-Cost-Function decreased by 95% and recovery rate decreased by 19,2% during PC. A kinetic synergy analysis showed that the subjects reorganized their coordinations in the PC. Our results demonstrate that adding a precision task affects the economy of collective load carriage. Notwithstanding, the joint moments at the upper-limbs are better balanced and co-vary more across the paired subjects during the precision task.

Dataset of Carriage of antibiotic resistant bacteria in endangered and declining Australian pinniped pups

Dataset of samples collected from Australian sea lion, Australian fur seal and long-nosed fur seal pups across eight breeding colonies in Australia from 2016-2019. Includes year of sample collection, animal ID and breeding colony where collection took place.

The dataset includes whether integrons were detected in Escherichia coli isolates or in DNA extracted form faecal samples. The gene cassette array for each positive sample has been included.

The concentrations of trace elements and heavy metals in blood samples were limited to Australian fur seal pup sampled at Seal Rocks in 2018. The concentrations of Zn, As, Se, Hg, and Pb in whole blood of A. p. doriferus pups sampled at Seal Rocks in 2018 (n=52) were provided by another study (Cobb-Clarke and Gray, personal communication). The data was derived from samples analysed using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS; Agilent Technologies 7500 ce inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy, Santa Clara, CA).
