El kollón es usado por un personaje enmascarado llamado curiche encargado de abrir paso a la machi y mantener el orden durante ceremonias para hacer cumplir el ritual, como por ejemplo, delimitando el espacio sagrado durante el nguillatún. Esta pieza consta de un rostro humano esquemático tallado en madera nativa, color oscuro, con aplicaciones de vellón de lana de oveja en bigote y cejas. Es un rostro de forma ovalada, con ojos y boca perforados y nariz recta sobresaliente.
