Crowd-sourced SfM: Best practices for high resolution monitoring of coastal cliffs and bluffs

Digital oblique photos of an approximately 2.0 km alongshore reach of seaward-facing coastal bluff faces on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Washington State, were collected at least quarterly between 2016 and 2022. In total over 3900 photos were collected over 38 separate surveys. The photos were collected to support digital surface reconstructions using Structure-from-Motion (SfM) photogrammetry, and specifically to assess the quality of surfaces generated with photos collected using relatively simple techniques that could be accessible to community science programs. A secondary goal was to use the photos, and the digital surfaces generated with them, to evaluate patterns and rates of erosion on the bluff face.

Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) data associated with the paper "Bossis et al., Evidence of slow millennial cliff retreat rates using cosmogenic nuclides in coastal colluvium, submitted to Esurf".

This dataset contains the Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) 10Be data required to calculate the coastal cliff retreat rates presented in Bossis et al., Evidence of slow millennial cliff retreat rates using cosmogenic nuclides in coastal colluvium, submitted to Esurf. The samples were collected along the "Côte Vermeille" French coast, the "Costa Brava" Spanish coast and the south coast of Peru in colluvium at the foot of the cliffs. For additional information and methodology, see the original publication.

Supplementary data for "Coastal retreat rates of high-Arctic rock cliffs on Brøgger peninsula, Svalbard, accelerate during the past decade"

This upload contains three dGNSS surveys at Kjærsvika, Kongsfjordneset and Stuphallet, representing the coastline of Brøgger Peninsula, Svalbard, including the standard deviations. The measurements were conducted 31.08.2021.

In this study, the coastline was manually ditigized based on orthoimages. To analyze the uncertainty of the manual digitization, the process was repeated three more times along selected transects of the coastline. This upload contains a file with the following information:
FID: vertices of repeated digitizations, starting from 0 for each separate coastline
NEAR_DIST: Distance [m] of each vertex to the digitized coastline that was used in the study
Location: Describes the three selected transects which were used for the uncertainty analysis (KV: Kjærsvika, KN: Kongsfjordneset, STU: Stuphallet)
ID_digitization: Number of repetition
