<p>This dataset Federalism Conflicts on the Constitutionality of Laws in Mexico during a selected period. The dataset covers judgments issued on "constitutional controversies," a procedure through which the Mexican Supreme Court resolves federalism conflicts. The dataset provides information pertaining to cases filed and resolved, including the plaintiff, the defendant, and the type of normative provision challenged. It also provides an overview of the outcomes of all normative provisions challenged (upheld, invalidated, dismissed out of procedural grounds, or dismissed out of the lack of a supermajority vote to invalidate them). Data was downloaded on June 22, 2022, and manually classified in the following months. The dataset may be employed to calculate unconstitutionality rates or to study the impact of supermajority rules on the role of constitutional courts as arbiters of federalism conflicts. Full text for all judgments is provided.</p>

<p>This dataset contains the <strong>solution </strong>of the scenarios used for one of the validation of the ARTIMATION project: Conflict Detection and Resolution (CD&R) use case (link).</p> <p>The solution are computed by a Genetic Algorithm developped by Nicolas Durand.<br> <br> Inside, one can find:</p> <p>-One archive, "GA_Scenario_Solution_Dataset.zip", containing 10 couple of files (so 20 files). Each couple of file "sol_X_1.csv" and "sols_X_1.csv" are reciprocally the solutino given by the Genetic Algorithm to scenario X, and all the candidate solution explroed by the GA while solving scenario X. This archive also contain other versions of the solutions made by the GA with other parameters.<br> <br> -One archive, "GA_Toy_Dataset.zip" , containing solution to random scenarios, used to develop the first interfaces.</p> <p>Those solutions are used to developp the heatmatrix and heatmaps of the project (link), and visualisations for the validation (link).</p>

Wind energy production in forests conflicts with tree - roosting bats
<p>Many countries are investing heavily in wind power generation,<sup>1</sup> triggering a high demand for suitable land. As a result, wind energy facilities are increasingly being installed in forests,<sup>2,3</sup> despite the fact that forests are crucial for the protection of terrestrial biodiversity.<sup>4</sup> This green-green dilemma is particularly evident for bats, as most species at risk of colliding with wind turbines roost in trees.<sup>2</sup> With some of these species reported to be declining,<sup>5-8</sup> we see an urgent need to understand how bats respond to wind turbines in forested areas, especially in Europe where all bat species are legally protected. We used miniaturized global positioning system (GPS) units to study how European common noctule bats (<em>Nyctalus noctula</em>), a species that is highly vulnerable at turbines,<sup>9</sup> respond to wind turbines in forests. Data from 60 tagged common noctules yielded a total of 8129 positions, of which 2.3% were recorded at distances <100 m from the nearest turbine. Bats were particularly active at turbines <500 m near roosts, which may require such turbines to be shut down more frequently at times of high bat activity to reduce collision risk. Beyond roosts, bats avoided turbines over several kilometers, supporting earlier findings on habitat loss for forest-associated bats.<sup>10</sup> This habitat loss should be compensated by developing parts of the forest as refugia for bats. Our study highlights that it can be particularly challenging to generate wind energy in forested areas in an ecologically sustainable manner with minimal impact on forests and the wildlife that inhabit them.</p>

Audio proceedings from CONFLICT: Collections, Archives and Heritage symposium
<p>The <em>CONFLICT: Archives, Collections and Heritage</em> workshop (in-person and online) explores the topic of cultural heritage, archives and museum collections in conflict and post-conflict times. Starting with Cambodia’s art history and archaeology, discussions will expand to a global perspective. It is organised by Magali An Berthon from the Center for Textile Research at the University of Copenhagen on 25 March 2024, in conjunction with the exhibition “The Art of Ikat: A Cambodian Renaissance” which opens on 22 February 2024, at the Royal University Library, University of Copenhagen South Campus. Linda Sok and Sophea Oum, two of the artists featured in the exhibition, will be in attendance.</p> <p>How does conflict affect the recovery, preservation and conservation of museum collections and archives? Does it also affect the meaning and significance of such collections, whether they survived or were lost? Facing disappearance and destruction how do artists and artisans offer invaluable responses toward restoration and healing? These are some of the key questions animating this day of discussion centred on innovative research approaches.</p> <p>This event was supported by the Carlsberg Foundation and the David Fond og Samling.</p>
A Dataset of Multilingual Facebook Comments on Moros and Armed Conflict in the Southern Philippines
<p>This dataset is a collection of 12,478 social media comments found on the official Facebook pages of ten Philippine newspapers, T<em>he Philippine Daily Inquirer, Manila Bulletin, The Philippine Star, The Manila Times, Sunstar Cebu, Sunstar Davao, Cebu Daily News, The Freeman, Sunstar Davao, MindaNews, </em>and <em>The Mindanao Times</em>, spanning the years 2015, 2017 and 2019. The comments contain terms related to the Moro identity and the Mamasapano Clash, the Marawi Siege and the establishment of BARMM in the southern Philippines, allowing researchers to study semantic fields with regard to Muslims and the relationship between the texts and the source newspaper, their region of origin, and political administration, among other variables. Three-way model differencing and conflict detection
<p>We have further enhanced our practice, DSMCompare, to detect semantic differences and conflicts based on a three-way domain-specific comparison approach.</p> <p>To evaluate our practice, using a novel technique; we first used a reverse engineering method to transform the minimal collection of conflicting files of source codes involved in each commit into a three model for 95 conflicting commits over 13 open source GitHub projects and then calculated a high precision and recall compared to RefConfMiner's result.<br> The repository contains the results of the evaluation including the common ancestor model, left version mode, right version model, and the results of semantic comparison and conflict detection for each commit.</p> <p>The source code and relevant artifacts such as meta-models are available at:<br> https://github.com/geodes-sms/DSMCompare/</p>
Climate targets in European timber-producing countries conflict with goals on forest ecosystem services and biodiversity
<p>The repository contains the data and codes supporting the findings of the study:<strong> </strong>Climate targets in European timber-producing countries conflict with goals on forest ecosystem services and biodiversity, which can be found in the zip file "<strong>euclimate_vs_natpolicy-main.zip"</strong>. </p> <p>Further, the repository includes the raw forest simulation data used as input for the multi-objective optimizations and the raw optimization outputs of each study region. The codes to run the national optimization can be retrieved from <a href="http://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6631109">https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.6631109</a>.</p> <p>Abstract:</p> <p>The European Union (EU) set clear climate change mitigation targets to reach climate neutrality, accounting for forests and their woody biomass resources. We investigated the consequences of increased harvest demands resulting from EU climate targets. We analysed the impacts on national policy objectives for forest ecosystem services and biodiversity through empirical forest simulation and multi-objective optimization methods. We show that key European timber-producing countries – Finland, Sweden, Germany (Bavaria) – cannot fulfil the increased harvest demands linked to the ambitious 1.5°C target. Potentials for harvest increase only exists in the studied region Norway. However, focusing on EU climate targets conflicts with several national policies and causes adverse effects on multiple ecosystem services and biodiversity. We argue that the role of forests and their timber resources in achieving climate targets and societal decarbonization should not be overstated. Our study provides insight for other European countries challenged by conflicting policies and supports policymakers.</p>
Systematic map of literature on land use conflicts: Dataset
<p>This dataset compiles the international, peer-reviewed literature on land use conflicts that was published between 2005 and 2020. It lists 306 publications and provides for each of them information regarding the research methods, research aims, covered land use types, covered geographical region, subject area, definition of "land use conflict", and conceptual approach. It can be used to identify publications on specified topics or combinations of topics, such as literature on land use conflicts in Africa regarding the land use type pastoralism. The ROSES for systematic map reports file provides information of how the systematic map was compiled and the list of unobtainable and excluded publications lists those publications that appeared in the initial database search but were not included in the mapping, with reasons for exclusion. Analytical Center of University Cultural Productions in the Context of the Conflict (caPAZ) - Temporality
<p>This dataset comprises a collection of journalistic articles written by young university students in Colombia, which is a product of the project: Analytical Center of University Cultural Productions in the Context of the Conflict (caPAZ), funded by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Minciencias) and the National Center for Historical Memory (CNM) of Colombia (under the code: 1349-872-76354, agreement 872 of 2020) This corpus includes news written by the 24 colleges media of the Colombian Network of College Journalism from 2012 to 2016. The dataset includes digital news, for a total of <strong>589 </strong>news items related to the armed conflict, the memory of the victims and the peace process in Colombia. These news items were collected through a web-scraping technique, using 3 lemmatized keywords (conflicto armado, memoria de las víctimas y proceso de paz), with the aim of identifying these regular expressions in the logical operators that run through the HTML structure of each Web page</p>

<p>Within each nested folder of the archive you will find files A,O,B and M. They each represent a conflict where file O was altered in two different ways, resulting in A and B. Finally, a developer solved the merge conflict committing M as the solution.</p> <p>We have selected these by manually searching for a programming language on GitHub and selecting those repositories that had a large number of forks, commits and contributors.</p>

Is sexual conflict a driver of speciation? a case study with a tribe of brush-footed butterflies
Understanding the evolutionary mechanisms governing the uneven distribution of species richness across the tree of life is a great challenge in biology. Scientists have long argued that sexual conflict is a key driver of speciation. This hypothesis, however, has been highly debated in light of empirical evidence. Recent advances in the study of macroevolution make it possible to test this hypothesis with more data and increased accuracy. In the present study, we use phylogenomics combined with four different diversification rate analytical approaches to test whether sexual conflict is a driver of speciation in brush-footed butterflies of the tribe Acraeini. The presence of sphragis, an external mating plug found in most species among Acraeini, was used as a proxy for sexual conflict. Diversification analyses statistically reject the hypothesis that sexual conflict is associated with shifts in diversification rates in Acraeini. This result contrasts with earlier studies and suggests that the underlying mechanisms driving diversification are more complex than previously considered. In the case of butterflies, natural history traits acting in concert with abiotic factors possibly play a stronger role in triggering speciation than does sexual conflict.
