Improving access to and reuse of research results, publications and data for scientific purposes - Stakeholders' consultations results

<p>The data sets were created via data collection effort for the Horizon Europe-funded "study to evaluate&nbsp;the effects of the EU copyright framework on research and the effects of potential interventions and to identify and present relevant provisions for research in EU data and digital legislation, with a focus on rights and obligations". The study was contacted by DG RTD.&nbsp;</p> <p>This research project supports Action 2 objectives of the European Research Area (ERA) Policy Agenda 2022-2024, which aims to propose&nbsp;an EU legislative and regulatory framework for copyright and data that is fit for research. The report provides a comprehensive analysis of barriers to the access and reuse of publicly funded research, including scientific publications and data. It assesses existing EU copyright legislation and EU data and digital legislation. It also assesses regulatory frameworks and national initiatives and identifies potential areas for improvement.</p> <p>Using a methodological, evidence-based approach (including the survey results posted in this repository), the study presents possible&nbsp;legislative and non-legislative measures to improve the current EU copyright and data framework and align it with the needs of scientific research and open research data principles.&nbsp;</p> <p>The data sets include the raw data of the three surveys (survey 1 targeted at researchers, survey 2 targeted at research-performing organisations, and survey 3 targeted at publishers). All surveys have two major parts: one concerning copyright legislation and another concerning data and digital legislation. In addition, we provide interview notes, they are also organised into two parts: one concerning copyright legislation and another concerning data and digital legislation.&nbsp;</p> <p>The data collection effort was partially supported by our colleagues from the Institute for Information Law (IVIR) and KU Leuven CiTIP.&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>The dataset documents</strong> <strong>consulting requests and corresponding consultations on topics related to research data management </strong>at the Charit&eacute; - Universit&auml;tsmedizin Berlin, a university hospital and large biomedical research institution. Version v2.0 includes requests between late 2018 and October 2024.</p> <p>Please note that the documentation is&nbsp;not&nbsp;complete.&nbsp;Sometimes it is detailed, sometimes very brief, and rarely notes are completely absent.&nbsp;In many cases, I made detailed notes outside of this&nbsp;table, and these&nbsp;are not included in the dataset.</p> <p>The shared files all contain the same information or a subset of it. Different file formats have been shared to facilitate reuse and text search.</p> <p>See the readme file for detailed description of data fields and further disclaimers.</p>

Development and implementation of a tool for measuring the training effectiveness of the patient-centered consultation model

<p><strong>Background:</strong> The patient-centered consultation model comprises four elements: exploring health, illness, and disease experiences, understanding the whole person, finding common ground, and enhancing the patient-doctor relationship. This method is taught at the course in general practice at Copenhagen University. The aim of the study was to develop a simple tool consisting of a questionnaire about the patient-centered elements and a test video consultation. The outcome is the change in the students&rsquo; ability to identify these elements. Used as a pre-course and post-course test it can inform the teachers which elements of the patient-centered consultation need intensifying in the teaching.<br> <strong>Methods:</strong> The students from a course in general practice volunteered to participate in all steps of the development. They took part in individual interviews to select items from an already existing questionnaire (DanSCORE). The preliminary questionnaire was tested for face and content validity, pilot-tested and tested for test-retest reliability. All video consultations were transcribed and assessed for patient-centered elements through a conversation analysis. The videos showed medical students seeing real patients.<br> <strong>Results:</strong> The preliminary version of the questionnaire (called DanOBS) <a href="#_msocom_1">[CM1]</a>&nbsp;<a href="#_msocom_2">[MJ2]</a>&nbsp;had 23 items. In the subsequent interviews, items were reduced to 17, each with three response options. After the pilot test, the questionnaire was further reduced to 13 items, all strictly relevant to the model and with two response options. The final questionnaire had acceptable test-retest reliability. The number of test consultation videos underwent a reduction from six videos to one.<br> <strong>Conclusions:</strong> The DanOBS combined with a test video consultation, used as a pre-and post-course test demonstrates for teachers which elements in the patient-centered consultation need to be intensified in the teaching.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

CIMULACT WP4 online consultation results

<p>The online consultation (consultation.cimulact.eu) is part of the second consultation phase in the CIMULACT project. Its purpose is to create a space where citizens in the 30 countries are exposed to the 48 research scenarios resulting from the project&#39;s&nbsp;<a href="http://www.cimulact.eu/scenariococreationworkshop/">Milan co-creation workshop.</a> Within any one country, participants in the online consultations (&lsquo;regular citizens&rsquo; as well as others with various levels of relevant know-how) engage in depth with eight of these scenarios, according to their interests and/or expertise. Thus, the aim is to prioritize research scenarios and enrich them to some extent.</p> <p>The consultation format relies on a modified online Delphi template (dubbed Dynamic Argumentative Delphi, DAD). This format was tested in the past by the WP4 leader (Institutul de Prospectiva) on several occasions, including three national-scale consultations in Romania, each with thousands of respondents. Deliverable 3.2 Programmes and concepts for all citizen and multi-actor consultations

<p>This deliverable includes the results obtained during 50 National Research &amp; Policy workshops (NRPs) held as part of the second consultation phase of the CIMULACT project. At least one workshop was held in each of 30 participating European countries (28 EU member states + Norway and Switzerland) in the period September 2nd until October 8th 2016.</p> <p>CIMULACT stands for &lsquo;Citizen and Multi-Actor Consultation on Horizon 2020&rsquo;.1 The project engages citizens, along with a wide range of other actors, in redefining the European Research and Innovation agenda and thereby making it more relevant and accountable to society.</p> <p>While the first phase of the CIMULACT project aimed at collecting visions for sustainable and desirable futures formulated by European citizens. The second phase of the project aimed at transforming these visions into research and policy options.</p> <p>The scope of the NRPs was twofold: 1) Test, validate, enrich and prioritise the research programme scenarios developed during the first phase of the project (WP2.1), 2) Experiment with methods for co-creating research and policy recommendations by citizens and multi-actors.</p> <p>Consulting different target groups and using a variety of concepts for consulting these groups the research programme scenarios have been enriched by a diverse group of citizens and societal actors with a high diversity of perspectives. All together 977 European citizens and multi-actors were consulted during the NRPs.</p> <p>In order to understand the context in which the NRPs were held it is central to understand the structure of the CIMULACT project. For the same reason the first half of this summary presents the CIMULACT project and its results until the NRPs, while the second half of the summary will focus on the results of the NRPs.</p> <p>The programmes, concepts, and outcome of the consultations are presented in national reports which are to be found in extension of the summary.&nbsp;</p>

Supporting information for: The Time Requirements for Primary Care Consultations: Initial Sick Child Visits in Low- and Middle-income Countries Using the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) Clinical Algorithm

<p>Few studies have examined the time required for primary care consultations; none have focused on sick child visits in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This project begins to fill that gap by providing evidence-based estimates of the time needed for initial visits with under-five infants and children at public or not-for-profit facilities in countries using the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) clinical algorithm.</p> <p>Estimates of the mean expected duration of IMCI consultations require (a) classification profiles, i.e., tabulations of the gold standard health issues presented by patients less than 5 years old; (b) lists of the tasks included in applicable versions of the IMCI algorithm and the conditions that elicit them, and (c) an estimate of the time needed to perform tasks with no pre-defined minimum duration. The latter requires, in addition to classification profiles, information on rates of task performance and the mean observed duration of consultations.</p> <p>The IMCI clinical algorithm and the research surrounding it provide unusually rich sources of such information. Developed in the mid 1990s by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children&rsquo;s Fund, the IMCI algorithm seeks to reduce child mortality in LMICs by improving the technical quality of primary care services. For infants less than 2 months old, the algorithm focuses on bacterial infections, feeding problems, low weight, and, in some versions, jaundice. For children 2-59 months old, the foci include acute respiratory infections, especially pneumonia; diarrhea; fevers, especially malaria and measles; malnutrition, and anemia. Immunization status is a concern for both age groups. The algorithm provides a scheme to classify the health issues with which infants and children present, an array of tasks providers may be expected perform, and criteria by which tasks are elicited. Research on the design and utility of the algorithm, its effects on provider performance, and related topics furnishes data on the prevalence of gold standard IMCI classifications in a variety of patient populations. In some cases, it also enables one to calculate the time required to perform tasks.</p> <p>I found such information by searching MEDLINE, the database of the International Network for Rational Use of Medicines, the websites of the WHO and its regional offices, GOOGLE, and GOOGLE SCHOLAR using search terms such as &lsquo;Integrated Management of Childhood Illness&rsquo;, &lsquo;observational&rsquo;, &lsquo;prospective&rsquo;, &lsquo;classification&rsquo;, &lsquo;clinical signs&rsquo;, &lsquo;health facility survey&rsquo;, and &lsquo;validity&rsquo;. I also reviewed studies that cited a qualified study and, conversely, material included in the bibliographies of qualified studies.</p> <p>The supplemental information files contain the following:</p> <p>WORKBOOK S1_STUDIES USED</p> <p>Lists features of, and sources for, the studies used to construct classification profiles and to estimate the time required to perform the average task with no predefined minimum duration.
