Voltage and current data for IEC 62600-30 power quality monitoring from the Mutriku Wave Power Plant and Lir National Ocean Test Facility electrical laboratory
<p>This Technical Note describes the electrical data collected from the Mutriku Wave Power Plant (MWPP) and the Lir National Ocean Test Facility (NOTF) electrical laboratory at the MaREI Centre in the Environmental Research Institute, at University College Cork.</p> <p>In summary, the electrical data collect is for the purpose of analysing the power quality output of a Wave Energy Converter (WEC). The data includes voltage and current signals from the output of a WEC sampled at 15 kHz from the MWPP and a WEC emulator sampled at 20 kHz from the Lir NOTF electrical laboratory. There are 24 datasets from the MWPP taken at various sea state conditions, and there are 56 datasets from the Lir NOTF which are taken with at various sea state conditions, with different control laws, and grid connections.</p> <p>This data is published for purpose of power quality analysis and comparison for future tests. For OPERA, power quality analysis was performed as part of WP5 T5.2 and T5.5, and presented in depth in Deliverables D5.2 and D5.4.</p> <p>See accompanying technical note for more Information.</p>

We found that beam shift decreased throughout the day, likely due to the tube warming up as more scans are run. There was no correlation between overall scan time and the amount of beam shift.

Bioenergy could be an important part of the solution to the projected climate problems of the future, and in addition could provide auxiliary ecological services. The project described here aims to parameterize expected benefits of diverse prairie biofuel plantations for groundwater quality, and also to further evaluate its biofuel potential. This project, done in cooperation with the USGS, grows out of purely scientific discoveries in other Cedar Creek experiments. We know that diverse prairie systems are better able to retain inorganic nitrogen than monoculture systems (e.g., Dijkstra etal. 2007). However, nitrogen is just one pollutant of many being delivered to surface-water and ground-water from agricultural systems. There are a number of others including phosphorus, pesticides, and veterinary pharmaceuticals. This fact combined with the rising demand for corn grain ethanol could lead to further declines in the water quality of agricultural regions in the United States. Perennial vegetative buffers, in particular diverse prairies and/or hay (CRP), are proposed solutions. The vegetation in such buffers can be used for biofuel and simultaneously appear to be attenuate leaching of agricultural compounds through the unsaturated zone to groundwater. This 3-year cooperative USGS and UMN study will (1) examine the ability of prairies and hay (CRP) to attenuate leaching of agricultural compounds to ground-water (2) compare biofuel production of four cropping systems: diverse prairie, hay (CRP), corn grown with chemical fertilizer, and corn grown with a combination of manure and chemical fertilizer, (3) provide for future investigations into microbial antibiotic resistance and (4) provide a better understanding of the unsaturated zone hydrology and shallow groundwater recharge at Cedar Creek. The project will take place in the E120 field.

Data from: Body height and immune efficacy: testing body stature as a signal of biological quality
According to the good genes hypothesis and energy allocation theory, human adult body height may reflect biological quality. An important aspect of this quality is immune system functioning (ISF). The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between ISF and body height in healthy people. The ISF was determined by several important innate (total complement and lysozyme activity, neutrophils function) and adaptive immune parameters (lymphocytes, IgA and IgG, and response to flu vaccine). Overall, 96 males and 97 females were subjected to flu vaccination, and of these 35 males and 34 females were subjected to tetanus. Blood samples were collected before and 4 weeks after vaccination. Immunomodulatory factors: participant's age, body fat and free testosterone levels, were controlled. There was no association between body height and all analysed immune parameters for both sexes. That might suggest that in western society, a women's preference for taller men is not related to "good genes for immune competence". We propose the novel Immunity Priority Hypothesis that explains the lack of relationship between adult body stature and ISF. This hypothesis, however, does not contradict the signalling role of a man's body height as a morphological marker of biological quality.

Subjective Test Dataset and Meta-data-based Models for 360° Streaming Video Quality
<p>During the last years, the number of 360° videos available for streaming has rapidly increased, leading to the<br> need for 360° streaming video quality assessment. In this paper, we report and publish results of three subjective 360° video<br> quality tests, with conditions used to reflect real-world bitrates and resolutions including 4K, 6K and 8K, resulting in 64 stimuli<br> each for the first two tests and 63 for the third. As playout device we used the HTC Vive for the first and HTC Vive Pro<br> for the remaining two tests. Video-quality ratings were collected using the 5-point Absolute Category Rating scale. The 360°<br> dataset provided with the paper contains the links of the used source videos, the raw subjective scores, video-related meta-data,<br> head rotation data and Simulator Sickness Questionnaire results per stimulus and per subject to enable reproducibility of the<br> provided results. Moreover, we use our dataset to compare the performance of state-of-the-art full-reference quality metrics such<br> as VMAF, PSNR, SSIM, ADM2, WS-PSNR and WS-SSIM. Out of all metrics, VMAF was found to show the highest correlation<br> with the subjective scores. Further, we evaluated a center-cropped version of VMAF ("VMAF-cc") that showed to provide a similar<br> performance as the full VMAF. In addition to the dataset and the objective metric evaluation, we propose two new video-quality<br> prediction models, a bitstream meta-data-based model and a hybrid no-reference model using bitrate, resolution and pixel<br> information of the video as input. The new lightweight models provide similar performance as the full-reference models while<br> enabling fast calculations.</p>
