Alloy Sustainability Database - Evaluating the Economic, Environmental, and Societal Impacts of High-Entropy Alloys

This database encompasses 18 elements and details over 400 high entropy alloys (HEAs), Ni-based superalloys, and steels, providing an extensive review of their properties and capabilities. To assess the broader implications of these materials, we have developed nine indicators that evaluate their economic, environmental, and human health impacts. Each indicator is meticulously described, including the methods used for their calculation. This data has been compiled with the goal of integrating considerations of societal impact into the alloy design process, thereby promoting the development of materials that are not only innovative but also socially responsible.

THE IMPACT OF LOCAL PRODUCT BRANDING ON THE ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE OF AGRICULTURAL AND LIVESTOCK AGRO-PROCESSING INDUSTRIES IN VLORA

This study aims to examine the impact of local product branding on the economic performance of the agricultural and livestock agro-processing industries in the region of Vlora. Based on the data collected from local agro-processing and agro-tourism industries, the purpose of this research is to analyze how branding strategies contribute to increasing the level of sales, the level of income, creating a strong identity, and improving the performance of businesses and the territory where these businesses are concentrated. The study includes in the analysis the influence of the local brand in the creation of the identity, in the level of sales, in the income, the profit margins, and the improvement of the economic performance of the agricultural and livestock agro-processing industries. For this reason, the research was conducted with the inclusion of over 100 industries/agritourism, and the analysis of the questionnaire data was conducted with the STATA program. From the results of the research, it is clear that investment in the branding of products with local indicators is necessary to stimulate economic development and to strengthen the market positioning of businesses in the agricultural and livestock sectors. Also, this research provides important recommendations for improving branding practices as a strategic tool for the development and consolidation of agro-processing industries in the region.

PoqueiraSurveys: A Dataset on Economic Impact Surveys in the region of Barranco del Poqueira in the Alpujarra Granadina.

This dataset is related to a series of surveys carried out in the Sierra Nevada National Park, specifically in the parking area of the municipality of Pampaneira, in three rounds conducted in January, March and July 2023. The main objective of these surveys was to collect relevant information on the direct and indirect costs associated with visitor travel, as well as relevant socioeconomic data and its impact on the local economy.

To ensure that the sample of surveys was representative, they were conducted on alternate days between holidays and working days. In total, 528 valid surveys were collected, divided into 103 in the first round, 105 in the second round and 320 in the third round.

The information obtained from these surveys provides a detailed view of how visits to the Sierra Nevada National Park impact the local economy, which is fundamental for decision making and policy planning in the park's management.

Impact of Clean Energy on CO2 Emissions and Economic Growth within the Phases of Renewables Diffusion in Selected European Countries

This study explores the impact of clean energy and non-renewable energy consumption on CO2 emissions and economic growth within two phases (formative and expansion) of renewable energy diffusion for three selected countries (France, Spain, and Sweden). The vector autoregression (VAR) model is estimated on the basis of annual data disaggregated into quarterly data. The Granger causality results reveal distinctive differences in the causality patterns across countries and two phases of renewables diffusion. Clean energy consumption contributes to a decline of emissions more clearly in the expansion phase in France and Spain. However, this effect seems to be counteracted by the increases in emissions due to economic growth and non-renewable energy consumption. Therefore, clean energy consumption has not yet led to a decoupling of economic growth from emissions in France and Spain; in contrast, the findings for Sweden evidence such a decoupling due to the neutrality between economic growth and emissions. Generally, the findings show that despite the enormous growth of renewables and active mitigation policies, CO2 emissions have not substantially decreased in selected countries or globally. Focused and coordinated policy action, not only at the EU level but also globally, is urgently needed to overhaul existing fossil-fuel economies into low-carbon economies and ultimately meet the relevant climate targets.

LOCKED: A dataset of sociodemographic, economic, living, and health features to measure the impact of the Spanish lockdown during COVID-19 on mental health conditions

A dataset aimed at enhancing the understanding of the mental health effects of the COVID-19 lockdown in Spain. This dataset serves as a valuable resource by integrating psychological assessments, such as the SA-45 pyschological test, with comprehensive socioeconomic, living, and health-related information. By combining these diverse data points, the dataset enables researchers to analyze how various invidual factors influenced nine mental health conditions during the lockdown, providing a robust foundation for further studies on this critical topic.

Socio-economic and environmental impacts of ants: data to support global assessments

Risk assessments are fundamental to invasive species management and are underpinned by comprehensive characterization of invasive species impacts. Our understanding of the impacts of invasive species is growing constantly, and several recently developed frameworks offer the opportunity to systematically categorize environmental and socio-economic impacts of invasive species. Invasive ants are among the most widespread and damaging invaders. We provide a global, comprehensive assessment on the impacts of ants and propose a priority list of risk species. We used the Socio-Economic Impact Classification for Alien Taxa (SEICAT), Environmental Impact Classification for Alien Taxa (EICAT) and Generic Impact Scoring System (GISS) to analyse 642 unique sources for 100 named species. This dataset includes the raw recrods on which our assessments were based, and some summary data. Other data can be found in the publication.
