An efficient method for higher heating value estimation of municipal solid wastes electronic supplementary material

To facilitate the disposal of municipal solid wastes (MSWs) via thermo-chemical approaches, the accurate measurement of MSWs' higher heating value (HHV) plays a key role. This study aims to forecast the HHV of MSWs using the optimized multi-variate grey model (OBGM (1, N)) due to its high accuracy under the condition of scanty data. Results show that POBGM (1, 5) with proximate analysis data is the most accurate model with the least error of 5.41% MAPE (mean absolute percentage error). This model also illustrates that ash is the most important factor affecting HHV due to its significant fraction in MSWs, followed by volatiles, fixed carbon and water contents, respectively. With prediction interval (PI) method, most of the actual data can be included by using the 95% confidence intervals.

Granulometric database of individual fragments of shredded Waste Electric and Electronic Equipments

This dataset describes the granulometric properties of individual fragments of Waste from Electric and Electronic Equipments (WEEE). It was collected during the PhD thesis of Alexis Barthet (Mines Paris - PSL), under the supervision of Emilie Chautru (Mines Paris - PSL), Hervé CHauris (Mines Paris - PSL), Thomas Romary (Mines Paris PSL) and Vincent Semetey (Institut de Recherche de Chimie Paris), in 2021-2022.

Two batches of WEEE were collected and sieved. Indivudal fragments were collected, and their picture, mass, density and type of fragments were measured. After segmentation of the pictures, their lengths, their widths, and their thickness were also collected. Both segmented and original pictures are available. The size of a pixel in mm for each image is also available for additional work on the pictures.

A description of the fragments as well as the methods used to collect the data is avalaible in the article "Advanced granulometric characterization of shredded waste printed circuit boards for sampling" about to be published in the journal "Waste Management" by the authors mentionned in the first paragraph.

Database for accurate EI-MS spectra for semi-volatile compounds identified in plastic from electronical waste

Database of accurate EI-MS spectra, recorded using a GC-EI-TOF-MS instrument, containing more than 300 volatile and semi-volatile compounds tentatively identified in plastics of electrical waste (e-waste). Tentative identifications were based on normalized spectral matches above 60 (0-100 scale) with the low-resolution NIST17 database, linear retention index differences between 50 units compared to literature values for semipolar (HP5-type) columns, and mass errors below 5 mDa for a minimum of two relevant ions in the spectra of each compound.
