Everglades Landscape Model (ELM) Code and Documentation
The Everglades Landscape Model (ELM) is an application instance of the generalized Ecological Landscape Modeling code package. For applications within the Florida Coastal Everglades (FCE) LTER, the ELM is one of the simulation modeling tools used to a) explore hypotheses of ecosystem processes in heterogenous spatial landscapes, b) extrapolate field-scale research findings across space and time, and c) predict the evolution of the Everglades landscape in response to plausible future scenarios. For ELM v.2.8.3-4, the 2 zip-archive packages here contains 1a) all (C) source code and unix (Bourne) shell scripts used to build and run the ELM (& includes Doxygen-generated hyperlinked source code documentation of every file/function/struct/parameter), 1b) all Everglades-specific input data used in historical (1981-2000) simulations; and 2) a complete documentation report with chapters including the Introduction&Goals, Model Data, Model Structure, Model Performance, and Model User's Guide. The ELM is being applied and updated routinely. Such updated information can be found at http://www.ecolandmod.com .

Chief Logan Elm Memorial Park-Elm Tree Sign
The Logan Elm that stood near Circleville in Pickaway County, Ohio, was one of the largest American elm trees (Ulmus americana) recorded. The 65-foot-tall (20 m) tree had a trunk circumference of 24 feet (7.3 m) and a crown spread of 180 feet (55 m).[1] Weakened by Dutch Elm Disease, the tree died from storm damage in 1964.[1] The Logan Elm State Memorial commemorates the site and preserves various associated markers and monuments.[1] Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab
The Stampede Elm Tree, Calgary, Alberta
The Stampede Elm, also known as the Victoria Park Tree, has watched over Calgary for over a century. This iconic tree has witnessed the expansion of the Calgary Stampede grounds and the construction of the Saddle Dome during the 1980's. After surviving over one hundred years of development, the tree may be removed to make way for a planned arena. It presently sits in the middle of a paved parking lot. Chief Logan Elm Memorial Park-Captain Cresap
Cresap was the son of the pioneer Colonel Thomas Cresap (c.1702—c.1790). He spent part of his adult years in the Ohio Country as a trader and land developer. He led several raids against Indians who he believed were hostile to white settlement. The war leader Logan (c. 1723?—1780), of the Mingo Indians, accused Cresap of murdering his family. Logan's wife and pregnant sister were among those murdered.[1] In fact, the killings were almost certainly perpetrated by Daniel Greathouse, yet Cresap was immortalized in Logan's speech — quoted in Thomas Jefferson's Notes on the State of Virginia (1785) — as the murderer of Logan's family. Phylogeny, biogeography, and classification of the elms (Ulmus)
<p>A RAD-seq phylogeny is presented for the genus <i>Ulmus</i>, and a revised infrageneric classification is given, with keys, descriptions, and range maps for the subgenera and sections. The previously accepted classification was based on a cpDNA phylogeny, but several well-marked clades in the chloroplast phylogeny are not recovered in the RAD-seq phylogeny and do not seem to represent valid clades in the organismal phylogeny. Ordination and STRUCTURE analysis support a broad species concept in <i>Ulmus</i> sect. <i>Foliaceae</i> and demonstrate interspecific hybridization in the section. Several sections of the genus are disjunct between Asia, Europe, and North America, indicating dispersals between the northern continents with inferred dates from ca 20 Ma to ca 3 Ma. Morphological variation is discussed, and some characters previously considered characteristic of <i>Ulmus</i> subg. <i>Oreoptelea</i> (narrowly winged achenes, ciliate achene margin) are shared with the unrelated <i>U. villosa</i>.</p>
Chief Logan Elm Memorial-NonHelema
Nonhelema Hokolesqua[1] (c. 1718–1786) Born in 1718 into the Chalakatha (Chilliothe) division of the Shawnee nation and spent her early youth in Pennsylvania. Her brother Cornstalk, and her metis mother Katee accompanied her father Okowellos to the Alabama country in 1725. Their family returned to Pennsylvania within five years. In 1734 she married her first husband, a Chalakatha chief. By 1750 Nonhelema was a Shawnee chieftess[during the 18th century and the sister of Cornstalk, with whom she migrated to Ohio and founded neighboring villages. Nonhelema, known as a warrior, stood nearly six feet, six inches(198 cm).[2] Some called her "The Grenadier" or "The Grenadier Squaw", due to the large height of 18th-century grenadiers.
