Solar and meteorological data collected from the Reserve Francois Leguat station (Mauritius) by the ENERGY-Lab at the University of La Reunion between May 2017 and August 2024
<p>Scientific data provided by ENERGY-Lab located at the University of La Reunion. These data come from solar and meteorological stations present in the following territories: La Reunion, Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles and South Africa. A THREDDS Data Server was created as part of the IOS-net (Indian Ocean Solar Network, https://galilee.univ-reunion.fr) project which aims to study the solar field and the optimisation of intelligent solar energy systems in the countries of the IOC (Indian Ocean Commission). These data are served by Unidata's Thematic Realtime Environmental Distributed Data Services (THREDDS) Data Server (TDS) in a variety of interoperable data services and output formats.</p> <p>Dataset is available from the THREDDS Data Server to this url: <a href="https://galilee.univ-reunion.fr/thredds/catalog/dataStations/catalog.html"> https://galilee.univ-reunion.fr/thredds/catalog/dataStations/catalog.html</a>.</p> <p>Data are also viewable and exploitable on the mobile application of the IOS-net project. The SolarIO app is downloadable in all stores.</p> <p><strong><em>ENERGY-Lab data may be reused, provided that related metadata explaining the data has been reviewed by the user, and that the data are appropriately acknowledged.</em></strong></p>
Mendt & Gosselin 2021 Depleted energy reserves and early benthic phase mortality
<p>Insufficient energy reserves are widely considered to be a primary factor contributing to high rates of early benthic phase mortality among benthic marine invertebrates, but this hypothesis has been based mostly on indirect, observational evidence, and remains largely untested. We therefore examined the role of initial energy reserves in regulating survivorship and growth during the early benthic phase. Recently settled or hatched individuals of six invertebrate species were collected from natural populations, maintained without food, and their survivorship was monitored. Contrary to expectations, starved individuals of all six species had high survivorship through the critical first 10 d of the early benthic phase, with half of the species experiencing <2% mortality, and the remaining three species experiencing only 6 – 12% mortality. For five of the six species, 50% mortality was reached only after ≥50 d of starvation. Additionally, no difference in short-term survivorship was detected among starved individuals of three different size classes (a proxy for energy reserves) of <i>N. </i>ostrina hatchlings. Finally, the effect of different durations of delayed feeding (0 – 50 d) on recovery (i.e. growth and survivorship) once food was made available revealed that duration of starvation prior to feeding can nevertheless have significant longer-term impacts on the proportion of individuals that survive or their ability to grow. Together, these findings suggest that depleted energy reserves are not a primary cause of high mortality at the start of the early benthic phase, as had previously been hypothesized. Levels of energy reserves did influence growth, however, suggesting a possible indirect influence on performance by leaving individuals vulnerable for longer periods.</p>
Influence of temperature and salinity on the cellular stress response and energy reserves of Hediste diversicolor.
<p>Raw data on survival rates, wet weight, cellular stress response, oxidative stress and energy reserves of the ragworm Hediste diversicolor collected at Ria de Aveiro (Portugal) and subjected to a combination of different temperatures (24, 27 and 30 ºC) and salinities (20 and 30) over time (14 and 28 days). The biomarkers analysed include: heat shock protein 70 kDa, total ubiquitin, catalase, superoxide dismutase, glutathione-S-transferase, total antioxidant capacity, lipid peroxidation, glucose, glycogen, total protein and total lipids.</p>

<p><span>The abundance and persistence of plastic nanoparticles in aquatic habitats are considered a threat to marine and freshwater biota. However, the risk assessment of plastic particles is complicated due to various factors that need to be considered, including composition, size and environmental abundance.</span><span><br></span></p> <p><span>This study investigated the behavioural response of a key river species, <em>Gammarus roeseli</em>, to dietary exposure of plain biodegradable and non-biodegradable plastic as well as to natural small micro- and nanoparticles. Mortality, feeding, swimming velocity and energy assimilation endpoints were examined by considering four particles sizes ranging from 30 to 1000 nm in two concentrations.</span><span><br></span></p> <p><span>Contrary to our expectations, neither decreasing size nor increasing abundance of each tested particle impacted any of the examined endpoints. Likewise, dietary exposition with biodegradable plain polylactide did not induce other or stronger effects than non-biodegradable plain polystyrene or natural silica micro- and nanoparticles, as all three particle types did not lead to adverse effects on <em>G. roeseli</em>. These findings also suggest that the functional role of <em>Gammarus roeseli</em> as a shredder is not impaired due to particle occurrence within the exposure range of this study.</span></p>

14-bus test system for peer-to-peer energy and reserve markets
<p>With the development of distributed energy resources the way to produce and consume electricity has changed dramatically over the past few years. To cope with these changes there is a need for a new paradigm in electricity markets, namely a consumer-centric market framework. Within this framework, peer-to-peer markets have gained substantial interest due to their decentralized nature and their structural flexibility. Usually solely applied on energy, these peer-to-peer energy markets are yet likely to involve agents with stochastic behaviors such as renewable generators. This test case proposes a modified version of the IEEE 14-bus test system which will allow to test these novel approaches peer-to-peer markets accounting both for energy and reserves. The data set is given in the form of a MATLAB .mat file following the Matpower file format.</p>
