Ecophysiological variables of common shrub and grass species during the growing season following simulated sandblasting trials at the Jornada Experimental Range, New Mexico, USA, 2018 and 2019
In this dataset, we report ecophysiological variables of contrasting perennial grass (Bouteloua eriopoda, Sporobolus airoides, and Aristida purpurea) and shrub (Prosopis glandulosa, Atriplex canescens, and Larrea tridentata) functional groups before and after a series of simulated sandblasting events with various intensities and frequencies. We hypothesized that grass species are more susceptible to the resulting "sandblasting" (i.e., abrasive damage by wind-blown particulates) than shrubs, thus contributing to the shift from grass to shrub dominance. To test this, we conducted a wind tunnel experiment at the USDA Jornada Experimental Range in 2018 and 2019 growing seasons. Potted plants were subjected to different levels of sandblasting in a novel portable wind tunnel, and plants’ ecophysiological responses including leaf gas exchange and nighttime leaf stomatal conductance were quantified. All tested plants were then grown in benign greenhouse conditions to investigate plant recovery post sandblasting. This dataset contains data about plant biomass and height, leaf chlorophyll content, leaf gas exchange, stomatal conductance, and water use efficiency (WUE) under the experimental treatments above. This study is complete.

Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest: Gastropod lichen feeding trials
Herbivory by terrestrial gastropods, particularly Arion sp., can alter lichen communities; however, little is known about this interaction in forests of North America. This data set reports the results of two feeding trials with slugs and snails from Hubbard Brook on seven lichen species. In feeding trials two common lichens, Hypogymnia physodes and Platismatia glauca, were grazed more heavily by both native and non-native slugs than other lichen species.
Figure 1. Experimental protocol-Single Trial Classification of Evoked EEG Signals Due to RGB Colors

Various methods exist to enhance and pre-process EEG signals by removing different artifacts like eye movement and blinking, Electrooculography (EOG) or Electromyography (EMG). The complexity of EEG signal's representation makes it difficult to define the circle that encloses most of the data points of their total. The problem with these methods is that they work at frequency domain or time domain, but not both, which causes a loss of important data during the processing stage. The researches show that the combination of frequency and time domain information can provide more completed features that improve the classification performance of EEG signals. Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) has recently been developed by N. (Huang Huang et al., 1998) as an adaptive time-frequency data analysis method. It has proven to be quite versatile in a broad range of applications for extracting signals from data generated in noisy nonlinear and non- stationary processes. Wavelet Transform (WT) is also an analysis method that uses the time- frequency domain. However, EMD acts essentially as a filter bank, resembling those involved in wavelet decompositions.

Data from: NMDA receptor antagonists and pain relief: a meta-analysis of experimental trials
OBJECTIVES: We conducted a meta-analysis of controlled trials that used experimental models of acute pain and hyperalgesia to examine the analgesic effects of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDAR) antagonists. METHODS: Six major databases were systematically searched (to 03/2018) for studies using human evoked pain models to compare NMDAR antagonists with no-intervention controls. Pain outcome data were analyzed with random-effects meta-analysis. RESULTS: Searches identified 70 eligible trials (N=1069). Meta-analysis found that low-dose ketamine (<1 mg/kg) produced a decrease in the size of hyperalgesic area (Standardized Mean Difference=0.54, CI95[0.34, 0.74], p<.001), and a 1.2-point decrease (CI95[0.88, 1.44], p<.001) in pain ratings from 4.6 to 3.4 on a 0-10 scale (a 26% reduction). Similar analgesia was observed for acute and hyperalgesic models and was constant across the dosing range (0.03-1.00 mg/kg). Moderate-high variability in effect size was observed and mild side effects (e.g. sedation, sensory disturbance) were common. No effects of dextromethorphan were found. CONCLUSIONS: Findings provide robust evidence for analgesic and anti-hyperalgesic effects of ketamine, supporting its utility for acute and chronic pain management. However, pain relief was modest, suggesting ketamine may potentially be most useful when opioids are contraindicated, rapid analgesia is required or for pain resistant to conventional medication.
