The ROADMAP Final Event, 26 April 2023

<p>On the 25th and 26th of April, we were grateful to organise the ROADMAP final conference at the University Foundation in Brussels. On the 25th of April, before the last conference, an informal network cocktail and dinner were organised at the final event location (University Foundation Brussels). Travelling or local stakeholders were invited for a casual get-together in which discussions and networking were facilitated.<br> <br> On the 26th, the final event took place with presentations from project partners, a round table discussion with policymakers and a lively conversation with our stakeholder advisory board. CS3MESH4EOSC Final Event Science Mesh - Unlocking Open Science and Collaborative Research Landscape

<p>The recap video of CS3MESH4EOSC final event. The CS3MESH4EOSC final event, took place on 22 June 2023, at the EGI Conference in Poznan (Poland), showcased how the Science Mesh is contributing to an easier and more robust open science across Europe, thanks to novel approaches for data sharing and synchronisation.</p> <p><strong>The first half of the event</strong> will count with live demonstrations, where each data service from the Science Mesh will be presented from a user-perspective point of view. Event attendees will get practical information on how they can join the Science Mesh as a researcher, a software developer or a service provider. The event will also bring together representatives of Science Mesh use cases, who will explain how Science Mesh is making a difference in their lives, thanks to easier data sharing and synchronisation. A panel discussion with representatives of different sectors, from research to industry and education, will discuss the most urgent trends &amp; priorities for cross-border science collaboration between different sciences.</p> <p><strong>The second half of the event</strong> will be focused on the technical novelties within the Science technical foundation. A series of demonstrations will be presented, followed by a panel discussion, with representatives of CS3MESH4EOSC members that are part of the EOSC Task Forces, on how the Science Mesh contributes to EOSC&rsquo;s success and the overall EOSC Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA).</p>

Final data of the adjoint-state full waveform tsunami source inversion, applied to Chile-Iquique tsunami event

<p>We develop an adjoint-state full waveform inversion procedure to recover the initial water elevation of a tsunami event. Traditional finite-fault tsunami source inversion methods suffer from the uncertainty of fault parameters or crustal rigidity. Moreover, the heavy computational burden of calculating Green&rsquo;s functions results in limited spatial resolution and hinders the real-time applicability of the traditional methods to tsunami early warning. In this work, we apply the adjoint-state full waveform inversion method to the tsunami source inversion. The benefits of the adjoint inversion are two folds: 1) independence of fault parameters, and 2) high computational efficiency, especially for dense tsunami arrays and high resolution grids. We valid this approach with synthetic tsunami sources, and apply it to the 2014 Chile-Iquique tsunami event. Both synthetic and real-data preliminary results show that the adjoint-state method is of high efficiency and high resolution, outperforming the traditional tsunami source inversions.&nbsp;</p> <p>The data is in three comma-separated ascii files. We shared the three inversion results with different starting models. The source region is 70.3~71.5W, 18.5~21S on&nbsp;uniform grids. The src_TRIstart.txt is the inversion result with TRI image starting model, src_USGS_unistart.txt is the inversion result with USGS uniform slip model (https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/usc000nzvd/finite-fault). The src_zerostart.txt is the inversion result with zero starting model. The text file has longitude (in degrees), latitude (in degrees) and water elevation (in meters) of&nbsp;each column.</p>
