TYPES: Male holotype from Panama: Panama: Parque Nacional Altos de Campana, 1 hectare PANCODING Inventory, 895 m, 8.68333°, -79.92972°, June 14–19, 2007, M. Arnedo, D. Dimitrov, G. Hormiga, F. Labarque, M. Ramírez, deposited in MIUP, PBI_OON 42313; same data, 1 male paratype deposited in MACN-Ar 29895, PBI_OON 42312. ETYMOLOGY: A noun in apposition; in Greek religion and mythology, Pan is the god of the wild natural world, of shepherds, flocks, and mountains, and of hunting and rustic music. He has hindquarters, legs, and horns of a goat, and the name is here employed to note the large mac- rosetae at the eye region of males that resemble the horns in some illustrations of this god. DIAGNOSIS: This is one of the most autapomor- phic species from the Americas; males have the labium fused with the sternum (fig. 34B), small chelicerae, shorter than the endite length, with anterior blunt projections, and directed backward in lateral view (fig. 34D, E); clypeus directed back- ward (fig. 34D); two light areas on the sternum just below the endites (fig. 34B), carapace almost flat in lateral view and two strong macrosetae at the eye region, pointing forward (fig. 34C–E). Other characters of the male palp, such as the presence of two apophyses, also distinguish this species from others (fig. 38D–F). MALE (PBI_OON 42312): Total length 1.00. Habitus as in figure 34A–C. CEPHALOTHO- RAX: Carapace orange, with brown stripe along in Taxonomic Revision Of The Jumping Goblin Spiders Of The Genus Orchestina Simon, 1882, In The Americas (Araneae: Oonopidae)

God Osiris

The god Osiris of ancient Egyptian mythology is described as the King of the Underworld, responsible for judging the dead and welcoming those deemed righteous into the afterlife. He became a powerful symbol of death, resurrection, and immortality. His power and divinity are represented by his funeral wrappings for mummification—a process reserved for pharaohs and the higher classes—and his crook and flail, which symbolized pharaonic authority. Ancient Egyptians would place symbols of Osiris on coffins and say prayers in his name for the dead, hoping to earn protection for the deceased in the afterlife. God Osiris, 644-30 BCE

Ancient Egyptian bronze sculpture of the god Osiris, 644-30 BCE, now in the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art. From the sculpture's description on artsmia.org: "According to Egyptian religious beliefs, Osiris, as god of the underworld, had suffered death and resurrection. Thus he was believed to control the regenerative force of the Nile river. In this conventional representation, Osiris wears the crown of Upper Egypt flanked by two plumes, and a ceremonial beard. In his arms crossed over his chest he grasps the crook (staff with curved end) and flail (manual threshing device) symbolic of the pharaoh's authority." Egyptian god Thoth as baboon

Thot is the god of the moon, writing, science and magic in Egyptian mythology. It is represented either as a man with the head of an ibis or a baboon, but can also appear entirely in the form of the ibis or as here of the sitting baboon. God of Music, Carved Stone - Cross Polarized

Another time around using the GIGAmacro and cross polarizing to take a shiny object, make a not shiny and high res model, and then re-shiny it. Curiously enough, this one came out mirrored over the vertical axis. Still pretty, though. Also, due to the planar nature of a GIGAmacro scan, the thickness of the slab cannot be properly captured. Maybe I'll merge a turntable scan with this one later. Scans were done by AISOS, a part of LATIS Labs in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. The moon god Toth

Like the moon, the wise god Toth has two faces: a baboon's round head at full moon, and an ibis head when the moon is waxing. Here the baboon is sitting on a column with an ibis relief. Of Toth himself, in his human form, only a hand on the moon disk remains; the rest of the god's statue is missing. In Roman Egypt Toth was identified with the god Mercury. Marble, Egypt (?), ca. AD 100 -150. Inventory number: 7946 Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

God holding his martyred Son

God, enthroned, is holding his martyred Son, Tystrup Church, Sjaelland (Denmark), ca 1500, National Museum (Copenhagen, Denmark). Made with Memento Beta. PS: texture seems to have a problem to load on sketchfab viewer, sorry. On one side is St. George (see next model) with lance and on the other St. Lawrence (see next model), who originally held a grid in his right hand. St. Lawrence was a Deacon of the congregation in Rome and was roasted to death in 258. The group of figures, made ca. 1500 in the so called "lmperialissima workshop" in Lübeck, originally formed the central part of an altarpiece. Baboon (Moon God Thoth)

Faience baboon, 7th - 6th C BCE, about 16cm / 6 inches tall. From the sculpture's gallery description: "The baboon was usually associated with Thoth, one of the moon gods. This animal has a hole in the crown that once held a lunar disk sitting on top of a crescent moon, an attribute of Thoth. For a 2600-year-old artwork it is in remarkable condition, and though the animal is small in size, its posture and expression command authority." Copy of Aztec god (Quetzalcoatl or Xolotl?)

[1949.03.0001](https://collections.smvk.se/carlotta-em/web/object/1203399) :: kopia, figur, avgjutning, skulptur Gjutning av mexikansk stenfigur. Originalfiguren finnes i Museum für Völkerkunde, Stuttgart. 392-40 Berlin 1908). Katalogen upprättad av doc. 949. ![](https://collections.smvk.se/carlotta-em/web/image/zoom/25440748/1949.03.0001.jpg) Source: Objaverse 1.0 / Sketchfab

Data - Mentions and names of God in the Archives Parlementaires (French Revolution)

This graphs are the result of a distant reading of the Archives Parlementaires (AP), the edition of discourses (and documents related to discourses) pronounced in the French national assemblies during the French Revolution. We made a list of names of God and searched for them. We classified the results also according to time. We can get an idea of the changes in the frequency of mentions of God, and in the names used to speak of God.

Yet it must also be mentioned that we may not have identified all possible mentions of God, for two reasons: 1) God can be referred to implicitely or through rarer expressions; 2) there are OCR errors.

The actual figures should be thus significantly higher. In the framework of our project, we did not intend to obtain statistical precision. It was enough for us to show that mentions of God played an important role in the political culture of the French Revolution.
