Data used in the paper: Historical and current environmental selection on functional traits of trees in the Atlantic Forest biodiversity hotspot

This repository contains phylogenetic and functional trait data, raster files, and tables with sampling information and references used in the article "Historical and current environmental selection on functional traits of trees in the Atlantic Forest biodiversity hotspot" by Silva, J.L.A., Souza, A., and Vitória, A.P. Journal of Vegetation Science, https://doi.org/10.1111/jvs.13049 .

Description of files:

(1) "Species-level_Trait_Data_Silva_et_al._2021.csv": This file contains species-specific mean trait values and the plant growth form of the 2,122 studied species, whenever available. Trait values were compiled from public sources such as original papers, master and doctoral dissertations, and global trait databases.

(2) "Phylogenetic_Tree_Silva_et_al._2021.txt": This file contains the phylogenetic tree of the 2,122 studied species.

(3) "CWM_Trait_Maps.zip": This file contains seven rasters of spatially contiguous surfaces produced by Ordinary Kriging Interpolation using Community-Weighted Means (CWM) of each functional trait.

(4) "References-abundance-data.csv": This file contains sampling details and the references used to compile species abundance data for each studied site.

(5) "References-trait-data.csv": This file contains sampling details and the references used to compile functional trait data.

Data of Paper "Turning a Multilingual Historical Archive into an Information System through Post-OCR Correction and Content-Based Indexation"

We evaluated our approach on a collection of 946 historical documents belonging to the Biblioteca Nacional de Catalunya (BNC), spanning from 1914 to 1951. Each document is the issue of a magazine, comprising different articles by different authors. This implies that, despite the thematic nature of magazines and specific issues, there is a certain degree of heterogeneity in each document. Magazines were selected based on their relevance w.r.t. art in general and, more specifically, early 20th century avant-garde movements (e.g., Dadaism, Cubism, etc.). For each document, we have the scanning of the original artifact and the plain raw text extracted through ABBYY FineReader OCR tool. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first Catalan-dominated OCR corpus ever released.

Dataset and scripts used in paper "Exploiting Existing Modern Transcripts for Historical Handwritten Text Recognition"

This package contains the dataset and scripts used in the research paper titled "Exploiting Existing Modern Transcripts for Historical Handwritten Text Recognition" that was published in the ICFHR 2016 conference proceedings.

Unfortunately not all of the code used in the experiments is open source, so what is provided is not enough to really reproduce the results. Nevertheless, it should be useful to understand in more detail how the experimentation was performed. The scripts make use of the library for handwritten text recognition that is available at:

https://github.com/mauvilsa/htrsh

The dataset is in PRImA Page XML format (http://www.primaresearch.org/tools). To visualize the what is contained in the xml files on top of the images, the following open source tool can be used:

https://github.com/mauvilsa/nw-page-editor
