Replication data for: Bilateral flows and rates of international migration of scholars for 210 countries and areas for the period 1998-2020
<h3>Data and code for performing analyses and plotting figures for "Bilateral flows and rates of international migration of scholars for 210 countries and areas for the period 1998-2020"</h3> <p>The code and data can also be found at https://github.com/MPIDR/Global-flows-and-rates-of-international-migration-of-scholars/</p> <p><strong>Abstract</strong>: A lack of comprehensive migration data is a major barrier for understanding the causes and consequences of migration processes, including for specific groups like high-skilled migrants. We leverage large-scale bibliometric data from Scopus and OpenAlex to trace the global movements of scholars. Based on our empirical validations, we develop pre-processing steps and offer best practices for the measurement and identification of migration events. We have prepared a publicly accessible dataset that shows a high level of correlation between the counts of scholars in Scopus and OpenAlex for most countries. Although OpenAlex has more extensive coverage of non-Western countries, the highest correlations with Scopus are observed in Western countries. We share aggregated yearly estimates of international migration rates and of bilateral flows for 210 countries and areas worldwide for the period 1998-2020 and describe the data structure and usage notes. We expect that the publicly shared dataset will enable researchers to further study the causes and the consequences of migration of scholars to forecast the future mobility of global academic talent.</p>
Predicting International and Internal Migration in Guatemala with Social, Physical and Climatic Variables (Data)
<p>Accompanying data for the Depsky and Pons (2023) PLoS ONE publication - Predicting International and Internal Migration in Guatemala with Social, Physical and Climatic Variables.</p> <p>This repository contains tables of the raw 2018 Guatemalan national census values at the individual, household, and residence levels, as well as its migration-specific data table. Municipality-average climate values from ERA5-Land are provided as well, in addition to a shapefile of the municipal boundaries. All standardized outcome and predictor variables used for each of the five models are provided as separate tables as well.</p>

FIGURE1. Breeding, migrating and wintering distributions of Palearctic Anthus [rubescens] japonicus and Nearctic Anthus rubescens rubescens/alticola subspecies groups (from BirdLife International 2022; illustration @Andrew Birch). Circles indicate origins of sequenced individuals and triangles indicate origins of analysed recordings of calls. Localities outside of the usual range of the species complex (e.g., Ireland, Oman and Israel) are not figured here. in --Molecular--and--acoustic--evidence--support--the--species--status--of--Anthus rubescens rubescens and--Anthus [rubescens] japonicus--(Passeriformes:--Motacillidae)

Africa Climate Mobility Initiative (ACMI): Internal Migration Projections
The Africa Climate Mobility Initiative (ACMI) Internal Migration Projections project internal migration flows at 5-year intervals from 2020 to 2050 for a combination of 2 sets of Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs) scenarios and 3 sets of Representative Concentration Pathways (RCPs) scenarios. The unit of analysis is 7.5 arc-minutes, covering the entire African continent (approximately 15 km at the equator). These grid cells are drawn using a vector representation, and not a tessellation of grid cells (rasters). While the calibration and projection took place at a grid cell resolution of 2.5 arc-minutes, these data have been aggregated to a 7.5 arc-minute resolution. These data underpin the African Shifts Report, produced by the ACMI and enabled by the Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM). The ACMI was launched in September 2021 as a joint initiative of the GCCM, the African Union Commission (AUC), the United Nations System (UN), and the World Bank.
