Geochemical data of bottom sediments from a network of drainage canals located in the low-lying coastal area of Ravenna, Italy.

<p>This dataset contains all raw geochemical data of bottom sediments&nbsp;from a network of drainage canals located in the low-lying coastal area of Ravenna. The dataset is divided in three separated excel worksheets:&nbsp;</p> <p>- <strong>Focus Area</strong>. Sediment composition of the 21 sediment samples collected in 2022 in the Focus Area. Refer to Figs. 1 and 2 in the manuscript Giambastiani et al., 2024 for the sample locations. Listed are also other information related to sampling, such as depositional facies (BR: beach ridge deposits; IF: Interfluvial floodplain deposits), distance from the sea, altimetry, amount of fertilizer applied based on the land use, and EC of drainage water.&nbsp;<br>The sediment samples were collected in March 2022 along the drainage system of the lowlying coastal aquifer of Ravenna (Italy) by the authors.</p> <p>- <strong>LRC, Land Reclamation Consortium</strong>. PTEs composition of the sediment samples of the Land Reclamation Consortium dataset. Refer to Fig. 1 and 2 in the manuscript Giambastiani et al., 2024 for the location. Listed are also other information related to sampling, such as distance from the sea, altimetry, and amount of fertilizer applied based on the land use.&nbsp;<br>The sediment samples were collected since 2010 along the drainage system of the lowlying coastal aquifer of Ravenna (Italy) by The Land Reclamation Consortium of Romagna (Italy). No other uses apart from scientific purpose&nbsp;is allowed without notice to the authors.</p> <p>- <strong>Wells</strong>. Physical and chemical groundwater parameters of 4 wells localted within the Focus Area. Refer to Fig.2 &nbsp;in the manuscript Giambastiani et al., 2024 for the location.&nbsp;<br>Data were collected during previous studies by Greggio et al. (2020) and reprocessed to obtain vertical profiles of EC, pH, Eh, and chemical concentrations along the coastal aquifer depth.</p> <p>More informations regarding the source, ownership, collection methodologies and analytical techniques are in Giambastiani et al., 2024.</p>

Es enth&auml;lt Berichte aus Gemeinden sowie dem Missions- und Diasporawerk der Br&uuml;dergemeine sowie Reden und Lebensl&auml;ufe. Die&nbsp;<em>Gemein-Nachrichten</em>&nbsp;wurden ab 1765 in Fortsetzung des&nbsp;<em>J&uuml;ngerhaus-Diariums</em>&nbsp;(1747-1764) ausschlie&szlig;lich handschriftlich vervielf&auml;ltigt. In Druck gingen 1817 und 1818 die <em>Beytr&auml;ge aus der Br&uuml;der-Gemeine</em> und zwischen 1819 und 1894 die&nbsp;<em>Nachrichten aus der Br&uuml;der-Gemeine</em>. Data from: Geomorphological signatures of known hurricanes and validation of theoretical emplacement formulations: coastal boulder deposits on Cuban low-lying marine terraces

<p>Here we show the models made from SfM photogrammetry for 5 boulders found on the Cuban island emplaced by three hurricanes on the low marine terrace. To generate a 3D-scaled SfM point cloud of each studied boulder, we adapted an easy SfM workflow using Agisoft Metashape software (version 1.7.2). We surveyed each CBD obtaining pictures between 0.5 m - 3 m distance from the boulder and also climbing on the boulder to maximise the diversity of picture angles. The survey was carried over a time lapse of ~30 minutes and under cloudy conditions to avoid shadows created by direct sunlight. For scaling SfM results and assessing the quality of measurements, we used six wooden balls as photogrammetric targets. The diameter of the balls is 30 &plusmn; 0.2 x 10-3 m, as verified by repeated caliper measurements. We complemented these targets with two 70 x 10 cm wooden scales. All these targets were used as reference scale bars to correct the spherical distortion inherent to the camera optics and perform an auto-calibration. We further used these targets to check possible distortion after post processing and the generation of the resulting 3D model. In order to create a point cloud and a solid volume, we followed the software workflow: we first aligned the images to identify tiepoints, which were then used in bundle adjustment to compute the 3D dense clouds in a second step.</p>

Lying deadwood retention affects microhabitat use of martens (Martes spp.) in European mountain forests

<p><span>Biodiversity loss due to intensive timber production is a ubiquitous conservation issue across temperate and boreal forest ecosystems. Retention forestry, the retention of deadwood and old-growth features within production forest, is one management strategy that has been implemented in various countries around the world to conserve a wide range of taxa within managed forests. The success and ecological implications of retention forestry are currently subject to intensive investigation and while some taxa like birds and insects have already been studied frequently, larger mammals have obtained less attention. Pine martens are one of the few larger mammals in central Europe preferring older forest and potentially profiting directly from deadwood retention as a consequence of implemented retention forestry. The goal of our study was to assess the response of European marten species to deadwood retention in montane mixed forests. Using marten detection rates from camera traps on 135 research plots we assessed the response of martens to deadwood on three different spatial scales using generalized linear mixed models. We found no effect of lying deadwood on marten detections on the plot scale (one-hectare) or in a ten-meter radius around the camera traps. However, we found a significant increase in marten detections if logs (&gt;10 cm) were directly in front and in view of the camera trap. Our results show that deadwood retention as a measure of retention forestry does affect microhabitat use of martens, but not stand selection during the growing season. Logs directly in view of the camera trap increase marten detection rates as martens choose to move and forage along fallen trees when they are available. When using camera trapping to collect data on martens, trap positioning in front of logs can heavily bias trapping results when unaccounted for.</span></p>

Coordinates of the low-lying energy Agn isomers and the Agn-Tyr complexes

<p>Noble metal clusters with a size around the Fermi wavelength of electrons display quantum confinement effects and properties such as photoluminescence, two-photon absorption, and second and third-harmonic generation. As a result of these unique features, noble metal clusters are increasingly gaining popularity in optics and catalysis. Being highly reactive, it is standard practice to use capping agents to stabilize them.</p> <p>This dataset contains the structural parameters for the low-lying energy Ag<sub>n</sub> isomers and the Ag<sub>n</sub>-Tyr complexes from n = 3–12, all fully optimized at the B3PW91 functional combined with the def2-TZVP basis set. The structural parameters were obtained using a global search strategy combined with DFT calculations to explore the potential energy surface of clusters of atoms and molecules.</p>
