Grid-Interactive Efficient Building Technology Cost, Performance, and Lifetime Characteristics

<p>This record includes the raw data associated with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) report &quot;Grid-Interactive Efficient Building Technology Cost, Performance, and Lifetime Characteristics,&quot; which is published&nbsp;<a href="https://escholarship.org/uc/item/44t4c2v6">here</a>.</p> <p>Data were collected by Guidehouse under the objective of developing current and projected performance, cost, and lifetime characteristics for residential and commercial building technologies and equipment with the potential to provide grid services. The list of technologies was developed based on data gathered from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Grid Interactive Efficient Buildings&nbsp;(<a href="https://www.energy.gov/eere/buildings/grid-interactive-efficient-buildings">GEB</a>) Technical Report Series, ENERGY STAR Connected Certified Products, and input from researchers at the U.S. national laboratories. For each technology, characteristics are provided for a typical case and a connected or grid-interactive case. Where data are available, current DOE appliance standard levels are given. Definitions vary by technology and are provided with each data table. Current data is provided for 2020 and projections are available for 2030, 2040, and 2050.&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Note</strong>: enabling technologies for grid-interactive efficient buildings such as smart meters and distributed energy management software were out of scope for this report. Non-building technologies such as EV chargers and PV inverters were also out of scope for this report.</p>

From structural phase transition to highly sensitive lifetime based luminescent thermometer: multifaceted modification of thermometric performance in Y0.9xNdxYb0.1PO4 nanocrystals

<p>The development of a highly sensitive luminescent thermometer requires a deep understanding of the correlation between the structural properties of the host material and the temperature-dependent luminescence properties of lanthanide emitters embedded in these matrices. In some cases, the presence or increased concentration of the co-dopant ions can alter not only the spectral features, but may additionally cause far-ranging structural changes that further, even more tremendously, modify the luminescence properties of the phosphor. In this work, the temperature dependent luminescence kinetics in response to structural changes induced by increasing Nd3+&nbsp;ion doping in Y0.9&minus;<em>x</em>Nd<em>x</em>Yb0.1PO4&nbsp;nanocrystals are investigated, which correspondingly demonstrated phase transitions from xenotime to monazite structures. Consequently, the low temperature lifetime of the&nbsp;2F5/2&nbsp;state of Yb3+&nbsp;elongates. Moreover, by increasing the Nd3+&nbsp;amount, the relative sensitivity of the Yb3+&nbsp;luminescence lifetime-based luminescent thermometer was enhanced and, simultaneously, the temperature at which high sensitivity is achieved was reduced. The maximal relative sensitivity was found to be 2%/K at 273 K for Nd0.9Yb0.1PO4&nbsp;nanocrystals.</p>
