CSM02 Seasonal summary of numbers of small mammals on the four LTER gallery forest and limestone ledges traplines in wooded habitats at Konza Prairie

Data set contains seasonal summaries (spring, summer and autumn) of the number of individuals of each species of small mammal captured (relative abundance) on each woodland trapline. Each record contains year, season, trapline and number of individuals captured of each species. These live trap records are based on daily captures during a single 4-day trapping period in spring (early March to early April), summer (early July to late July) and autumn (mid-October to early December) for each of four permanent traplines established in two habitats (two traplines in gallery forest and two on limestone ledges). Bison did not graze any of the treatment units during the period of study.

Removal of Aqueous Uranyl and Arsenate Mixtures by Natural Limestone and Hydroxyapatite Precipitates, Rio Paguate, NM, 2022-2023

This dataset documents a series of laboratory batch experiments investigating the removal of aqueous uranyl (U) and arsenate (As) mixtures using natural limestone and precipitated hydroxyapatite (HAp, Ca₁₀(PO₄)₆(OH)₂) as reactive materials. The main objective of the study was to address the challenge of simultaneous removal of uranyl cations and arsenate oxyanions by using mineral-based adsorbents, such as limestone. The precipitation of HAp enhanced As removal while maintaining high uranium immobilization efficiency. The archived data include measurements of aqueous U and As at trace-level concentrations under varying experimental conditions, including pH (ranging from 7 to 11), initial contaminant concentrations (0.05–1 mM), and the addition of calcium (Ca²⁺) and phosphate (PO₄³⁻) to promote HAp precipitation. Experiments were conducted in triplicate to ensure reproducibility, and solid-phase characterization data (from pXRD, SEM/EDX, and electron microprobe analysis) are also included to support the interpretation of removal mechanisms. A key finding revealed from the data is that near-complete removal of U (>97%) with As removal between 30 and 98% were achieved under pH conditions around 9. This dataset provides a comprehensive record of solution chemistry and treatment performance, serving as a fundamental resource for evaluating the effectiveness of natural mineral-based approaches for remediating co-contaminated waters.

RFP01 Properties of large hillslope blocks and cliff faces along the cottonwood limestone near the konza prairie nature trail

This data is a collection of point observations and measurments of large rock fragments on grassland hillslopes. Data was collected from 30 hillslope transects that extend downslope perpidicular from the bedrock cliff formed from the Cottonwodd limestone. Transects are 30 meters long and 1 meter wide. Observations of blocks include properites such as size, shape, and surface weathering. This data set also includes observtions of cliff properties associated with each transpect location. Measurments we made in field by hand for rock fragments larger than pebble (&gt;64mm).

High-resolution basin-wide correlations with dynamic time-warping: code and data for a case study from the Usseln Limestone (Late Devonian, Rhenish Massif, Germany)

<p>This dataset accompanies the manuscript of Wichern et al. (GRL, 2024), entitled "Decoding Deep-Time Rhythms: Probing the limit of Stratigraphic Correlation in the Usseln Limestone's (Late Devonian) Time-Specific Facies". It contains both datasets and code.&nbsp;</p> <p>The dataset concerns samples collected from the Usseln Limestone, a rock unit that underlies the Late Devonian Kellwasser Crisis deposits in the Rhenish Massif, western Germany. The data consists of high-resolution thin-section composite photos, as well as micro-XRF scanning data (both maps and depth records) for three localities. The code contains the workflow to structure and plot the micro-XRF maps and convert them to depth records, as well as the workflow to analyse these depth records using dynamic time warping. Further analytical details can be found in the supporting material of the associated manuscript.</p>
