CATCH-EyoU: Processes in Youth's Construction of Active EU Citizenship: Longitudinal Survey Data: Wave 1 & Wave 2: Estonia

The data set was generated within the research project Constructing AcTive CitizensHip with European Youth: Policies, Practices, Challenges and Solutions (CATCH-EyoU) funded by European Union, Horizon 2020 Programme - Grant Agreement No 649538. The data set is a truncated version of the adolescents’ and young adults’ longitudinal survey that was carried out in Estonia from October 2016 to February 2018. It merges results of two polls (15-19 and 20-30 year olds). Survey was conducted by Univversity of Tartu (UT) within the WP7 research activity which aims at testing processes influencing societal and political engagement of young people.

Viral Communication: Longitudinal Survey Data on the Social Dimensions of the COVID-19 Pandemic

This dataset represents the anonymised data collected as part of the Viral Communication (Understand-ELSED) project, which focussed on the social and ethical dimensions of the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany. It includes the three measurements; Phase I (30 October 2020 and 14 December 2020), Phase II (2 March 2021 and 22 March 2021) and Phase III.

The first phase built the foundation for the wider suite of data collection approaches and research methods used in the Viral Communication project by allowing respondents to opt-in to multiple research pathways.

Overall sample frame (Phase I): N = 1480

Phase II sample frame: N = 482

Phase III sample frame: N = 426

Computed variables such as weights, groupings (experimental set-ups), and composite scores are included in the dataset.

Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest: Longitudinal surveys of stream nitrate concentrations, W1, W3, and W6, Summer 2015
Detailed surveys of stream nitrate concentrations in the calcium-enriched (W1), hydrologic reference (W3), and biogeochemical reference (W6) watersheds were performed in the summer of 2015 with the goal of identifying "hotspots" of NO3- inflows into streams. Additional details on methods and analysis can be found at: Marinos, R. E., Campbell, J. L., Driscoll, C. T., Likens, G. E., McDowell, W. H., Rosi, E. J., Rustad, L. E., & Bernhardt, E. S. (2018). Give and Take: A Watershed Acid Rain Mitigation Experiment Increases Baseflow Nitrogen Retention but Increases Stormflow Nitrogen Export. Environmental Science & Technology, 52(22), 13155–13165. https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.est.8b03553 These data were gathered as part of the Hubbard Brook Ecosystem Study (HBES). The HBES is a collaborative effort at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest, which is operated and maintained by the US Forest Service, Northern Research Station.

Data from: A longitudinal genetic survey identifies temporal shifts in the population structure of Dutch house sparrows
Dutch house sparrow (Passer domesticus) densities dropped by nearly 50% since the early 1980s, and similar collapses in population sizes have been reported across Europe. Whether, and to what extent, such relatively recent demographic changes are accompanied by concomitant shifts in the genetic population structure of this species needs further investigation. Therefore, we here explore temporal shifts in genetic diversity, genetic structure and effective sizes of seven Dutch house sparrow populations. To allow the most powerful statistical inference, historical populations were resampled at identical locations and each individual bird was genotyped using nine polymorphic microsatellites. Although the demographic history was not reflected by a reduction in genetic diversity, levels of genetic differentiation increased over time, and the original, panmictic population (inferred from the museum samples) diverged into two distinct genetic clusters. Reductions in census size were supported by a substantial reduction in effective population size, although to a smaller extent. As most studies of contemporary house sparrow populations have been unable to identify genetic signatures of recent population declines, results of this study underpin the importance of longitudinal genetic surveys to unravel cryptic genetic patterns.
Using longitudinal surveys for monitoring the integration of immigrants and their children

In May-June 2021, ETHMIGSURVEYDATA—a COST Action and research network dedicated to quantitative surveys on ethnic and migrant minorities' (EMMs') integration and inclusion—organized a Policy Dialogue Webinar Series to share ETHMIGSURVEYDATA’s main results, as well as to showcase EMM projects that are ongoing in policy-relevant institutions. These webinars have included presentations by the European Asylum Support Office (EASO), the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

This is the video recording for the 3rd webinar of the Policy Dialogue Webinar Series, which was held on 8 June 2021: "Using longitudinal surveys for monitoring the integration of immigrants and their children." This video recording has also been made available on the ETHMIGSURVEYDATA Youtube channel.

The full program for this webinar can be found below:

Speakers

Cecile Thoreau & Thomas Liebig, OECD - Use of longitudinal data on immigrants in the analysis of integration and migration: Examples from OECD work

Alita Nandi, Understanding Society, University of Essex - Ethnicity & Migration Research using Understanding Society

Commentary

Angela Paparusso, IRPPS-CNR

Chair

Marcello Carammia, University of Catania

Data set from longitudinal survey: ySKILLS' first wave

This document provides the data set and information concerning the first wave of data collection of ySKILLS longitudinal survey items conducted within Task 4.2. in six countries: Estonia, Finland, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Portugal. The aim of Task 4.2. was to develop a robust longitudinal survey to measure both short and medium-term impact of information and communication technologies (ICT) on youth. The data is collected in three waves. The survey focuses on four dimensions of well-being (cognitive, physical, psychological, and social) and several areas related to ICT use. Specifically, the questionnaire is divided into sections. For a detailed overview of each section, see the data dictionary.

Upon first request, users will be granted access to the dataset. As the project is still in progress, and the data collection of the follow-up waves is still ongoing the dataset is not yet open access. Once all survey waves are completed, the dataset is merged and cleaned, and the report on the three waves is published, the data of all waves will be open access.
