Fed4Fire/CDN-X-ALL network metrics dataset for time series analysis in Media content delivery for 4G/5G networks

The following dataset was generated at VICOMTECH (https://www.vicomtech.org) under project/experiment CDN-X-ALL: "CDN edge-cloud computing for efficient cache and reliable streaming aCROSS Aggregated unicast-multicast LinkS".

Project funded by Fed4FIRE+ OC5 (https://www.fed4fire.eu) under grant 732638.

The dataset provides network metrics captures across several days employing a GStreamer-based MPEG-DASH player running on an UE connected to a LTE network.

Nitos LTE/OpenAirInterface (OAI) testbed (https://nitlab.inf.uth.gr/NITlab/nitos/lte) was used to deploy the LTE network.

CDN-like server/DASH Dataset -> Internet -> EPC/OAI -> eNodeB/OAI -> UE/DASH player

The player downloads MPEG-DASH video files provided by Distributed DASH dataset (https://dash.itec.aau.at/distributed-dash-datset/), a dataset for CDN-like experiments, and captures the following data:

Date: date when the data is collected

Player: type of the player (in this case it is always "GStreamer")

Num: identifier of the player

URLVid: URL of the MPD file

Latency: latency experienced by the player

BW: bandwidth experienced by the player

Quality: chosen DASH video representation

During the experiments, other players run in order to generate realistic media streaming traffic at the CDN-like servers. These players start playing by following Poisson or Pareto distribution.

The dataset was used to train Machine Learning Time Series predictor in order to forecast network capabilities and can be used for further experimentation concerning time series analysis.

Check Mate: Prioritizing User Generated Multi-Media Content for Fact-Checking

Given volume of content and misinformation on social media, there is a need for systems that can support fact checkers by prioritizing content that needs to be fact checked. Prior research on prioritizing content for fact-checking has focused on news media articles, predominantly in English language. But there is an increasing amount of misinformation in user-generated content. Furthermore, misinformation is generated through information across modalities. In this paper we present a novel dataset that can be used to prioritize check-worthy posts from multi-media content in Hindi. It is unique in its 1) focus on user generated content, 2) multi-modality and 3) Hindi as the primary language of content. In addition, we also provide metadata for each post such as number of shares and likes of the post on ShareChat, a popular Indian social media platform, that allows for correlative analysis around virality and misinformation.

Data from: Identifying conservation priorities for gorgonian forests in Italian coastal waters with multiple methods including citizen science and social media content analysis

Gorgonian forests are among the most complex of subtidal habitats in the Mediterranean Sea, supporting high biodiversity and providing diverse ecosystem services. Despite their iconic status, the geographical distribution and condition of gorgonian species is poorly known. Using multiple online data sources, our primary aims were to compile, map and analyse observations of gorgonian forests in Italian coastal waters to assess the biological complexity of gorgonian forests; evaluate impacts and vulnerable species, and identify areas of special interest inside and outside of existing MPAs to help prioritise conservation strategies and actions.

Data from: In vitro aging behavior of dental composites considering the influence of filler content, storage media and incubation time

1. Objective: Over time dental composites age due to mechanical impacts such as chewing and chemical impacts such as saliva enzymes and food ingredients. For this research, the focus was placed on chemical degradation. The objective of this study was to simulate hydrolysis by using different food simulating liquids and to assess their impact on the mechanical parameter Vickers microhardness (MHV) and the physicochemical parameter contact angle (CA). 2. Methods: Specimen of three composites (d = 6 mm, h = 2 mm; n = 435) classified with respect to their filler content (wt%), namely low-filled, medium-filled and highly-filled, were stored for 0, 14, 30, 90 and 180 days in artificial saliva (pH 7), citric acid (pH 3; pH 5), lactic acid (pH 3; pH 5) and ethanol (40 %vol; 60 %vol) and assessed regarding to MHV and CA.Statistics: Kruskal-Wallis test, stepwise linear regression, bivariate Spearman Rank Correlation (p < 0.05). 3. Results: While stored in artificial saliva, acid and ethanol the CA decreased especially for the low- and medium-filled composites. It was shown that rising the filler content caused less surface changes in the CA. Storage in ethanol led to a significant decrease of MHV of all composites. Regression analysis showed that the effect of in vitro aging on MHV was mainly influenced by the composite material and therefore by filler content (R² = 0.67; p < 0.05). In contrast, the CA is more influenced by incubation time and filler content (R² = 0.2; p < 0.05) leading to a higher risk of plaque accumulation over time. Significance: In vitro aging showed significant changes on the mechanical and physicochemical properties of dental composites which may shorten their long-term functionality. In conclusion, it can be stated, that the type of composite material, especially rising filler content seems to improve the materials' resistance against the processes of chemical degradation.

Classification of Digital Content, Media, and Device Types

The content we ingest, whether by way of information, communication, or entertainment, is increasingly digital content, appearing as digital media and requiring the mediation of digital devices. The on-going emergence of new digital media and devices is anticipated, making the stability of their organization uncertain, unless we can devise a faceted approach capable of accommodating future developments. The paper presents a complex and hospitable facet analysis for digital media based on the functions of generation, representation, distribution, and use. For digital devices, a simpler facet analysis emerges, with a primary split between general-purpose devices and task-specific devices; the latter set of devices classes with the task. The Dewey Decimal Classification system is used throughout as a case study.
