Supporting data for “Climate Intervention through Stratospheric Aerosol Injection may partially mitigate marine heatwaves"
Although climate intervention aims to lower the global average temperature, the potential impact of Stratospheric Aerosol Injection on marine heatwaves (MHW) has not been thoroughly examined. This spatial dataset provides global and regional MHW metrics—such as frequency, maximum intensity, and duration—from the Community Earth System Model, version 2 (CESM2), using the baseline scenario SSP2-4.5, referred to as a no climate intervention scenario, and the ARISE-SAI ensemble. The ARISE-SAI model uses the SSP2-4.5 scenario, introducing stratospheric aerosol injection at approximately 21 km in 2035, aiming to keep global mean surface air temperature near 1.5°C for ARISE-SAI-1.5 and near 1.0°C for ARISE-SAI-1.0 above pre-industrial levels. The dataset includes global MHW properties for the historical period (1990-2009), the current period under SSP2-4.5 emission scenario (2015-2034), and future scenarios under SSP2-4.5, ARISE-SAI-1.5, and ARISE-SAI-1.5 for 2050-2059 and 2060-2069.
Integrated database on adaptation and mitigation measures in Europe
<p>Climate action is far from meeting the internationally agreed adaptation and mitigation goals. Even though climate action planning has increased since the Paris Agreement in 2015, the implementation rate of those plans remains low. Climate planning literature claims that accounting for long-term planning and implementation times, accurately estimating costs, identifying synergies and trade-offs between measures, or considering justice and equity issues might increase the quality of climate plans and facilitate the further implementation of climate actions.</p> <p>Also, there is no uniform way of responding to the climate crisis. Existing climate action databases typically focus on a particular type of response, sector, hazard, or type. In parallel, national governments and international initiatives provide tools and guidelines to facilitate the development of climate action plans. However, the primary climate action recording and monitoring initiatives and projects do not share the same framework as those tools, resulting in a lost opportunity to improve climate actions' knowledge transferability.</p> <p>Thus, we reviewed nine existing databases of adaptation and five mitigation databases, comprising a total of 7.130 adaptation actions and 11.409 mitigation actions, and detected a lack of alignment with climate planning practices and claims. Furthermore, we revealed a lack of coherency regarding the level of abstraction of climate actions and their role in the implementation process. Not all climate actions are meant to operate similarly from a planning perspective: while some had a direct outcome on the target indicators, others are thought to facilitate their implementation.</p> <p>Ultimately, we created a new integrated database of adaptation and mitigation measures in Europe, focusing exclusively on climate planning and implementation practices. First, we identified specific and transferable mitigation and adaptation measures and instruments through an originally designed decision tree. Second, we harmonised the collection of climate actions in a unique framework based on one of the biggest climate planning initiatives: the Sustainable and Energy Climate Action Plans by the Covenant of Mayors. Our integrated database of adaptation and mitigation measures (1) classifies and relates the different types of climate actions; (2) provides data that may improve the quality of climate plans and facilitate implementation; (3) allows a better perspective of systematic problems by identifying potential synergies and trade-offs; and (4) defines and characterises measures using a framework that draws on actual practice. The database compiles a total of 191 adaptation measures, 188 mitigation measures, and 97 measures that account for each, and a total of 609 associated instruments. For monitoring their outcomes, 93 SDG relevant indicators are included.</p>

This desk review evaluates the current state of interventions for mental health and cognitive functioning among older adults in Switzerland focusing on the features of these interventions as well as on Swiss-specific contextual factors that contribute to vulnerability and stigma. This results of the desk review has been submitted for publication to 'LIVES Working Papers' and 'Swiss Psychology Open' . The two versions of the desk review differ slightly. The version for LIVES Working Papers, included the results of the Delphi survey and the resulting intervention scenarios. The version for Swiss Psychology Open, did not include the Delphi survey results and the resulting intervention scenarios, but included a more detailed discussion of the review results.</p>
H2020 ENODISE: UTWE Configuration A Experimental Databases with Mitigation
<p>This database contains the datasets for the aeroacoustic experiments conducted at the University of Twente on the H2020 ENODISE project, Task 6.1 (experimental databases with mitigation), Configuration A1 - Wall mounted.</p> <p><br>Configuration A1 consists of a propeller ingesting a zero-pressure-gradient boundary layer. Far-field acoustics are measured using two microphone arrays, to assess directivity and sound pressure levels. Different treatments are used at the flat plate underneath the propeller to attenuate the noise reflected by the plate. Two main strategies are analyzed: tuned quarter-wavelength resonator arrays - to reduce tonal noise - and a broadband noise absorber (metal foam). The quarter-wavelength resonator arrays are tested in different geometrical distributions. </p> <p><br>That forms part of deliverables D6.4, D6.5, and D6.6 - see reports for further information regarding measurement techniques. Included are descriptive READMEs. The data is in the HDF5 format and comprises mean, spectral, and other processed data types in engineering units. CAD files are also added, to properly describe the setup and its components.</p>

These data describe annual estimates of the percent cover, abundance, and species richness (evaluated as species density) of benthic macroalgae and macroinvertebrates from replicate transects at three subtidal reefs. Data collection began in 2009 at an artificial reef (Wheeler North Reef in Orange County, CA) and two natural reference reefs (San Mateo Kelp in Orange County, CA and Barn Kelp in San Diego County, CA) to evaluate the ability of Wheeler North Reef to compensate for losses of kelp forest habitat and associated biota caused by the operation of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS).
