Fisheries independent trawl survey data of fish biomass on North American and European oceanic shelves.
<p>Publicly available scientific bottom trawl survey data, primarily sampling demersal commercial species, were obtained from the Northeast Pacific and North Atlantic shelf regions in 2021. The final dataset contains approx. 197,000 unique tows and includes data from 1970 to 2019 (166,000 tows between 1980-2015). For each tow in each survey, we selected all teleost and elasmobranch species and obtained species weight. We corrected these weights for differences in sampling area (in km2) and trawl gear catchability.</p> <p>The data processing scripts and individual survey data can be found on Github (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.7992482). The data processing scripts are modified based on earlier work from Pinsky et al. (2013) and Maureaud et al. Dataset of EMBCP survey results: Ocean experts (2020)
<p>In order to provide a picture of marine science communication in Europe being presented at the European Marine Board Future Science Brief N°8 ‘<a href="https://www.marineboard.eu/publications/marine-science-communication-europe-way-forward">Marine Science Communication in Europe: a way forward</a>’, the European Marine Board Communications Panel (EMCP) carried out three surveys targeting different stakeholder groups from across Europe. The results of these surveys underpin this document. Two main, in-depth surveys were carried out, one targeting experts (Ocean scientists, marine policy-makers, industry representatives, media professionals and Ocean communication or education experts) and the other targeting secondary-school students (17-18 years old). This dataset presents the results of the survey targeting experts.</p>

Airgun-ocean bottom seismometer survey dataset
<p>These data are the seismic waveform recordsections and the P-wave velocity model obtained by Azuma et al. (JGR, 2018), collected through an airgun-ocean bottom seismometer (OBS) survey.</p> <p>The recordsections of 29 OBS are 'RAW data' with no waveform procedure and are formatted in SEG-Y. Length of each trace is 60 seconds. Offset ranges, distances along the survey line, position of each shot and OBS, are included in header.</p> <p>The final velocity data is written in netCDF.</p>

Ocean bottom seismometer survey line OBS2016-2 across the magnetic quiet zone and continent-ocean boundary in the northeastern South China Sea
<p>OBS2016-2 dataset was collect in July, 2016. The ~320 km long NW-SE oriented profile OBS2016-2 is located to the east of the Dongsha Islands, extending from the Chaoshan Depression to the East Subbasin of the South China Sea. Seismic data were collected by R/V Shiyan-2 of South China Sea Institute of Oceanology (SCSIO), Chinese Academy of Science. The seismic sources are composed of four large volume Bolt airguns and the total airgun volume is 6000 in3. The firing interval was 90 s in time and 204 meters in distance, and the sailing speed of R/V Shiyan-2 was about 4.5 knots during the experiment. A total of 1572 shots were fired. Fifteen 4-component broadband OBSs were deployed, and fourteen of them were retrieved successfully with good data records. Data format is SAC.</p>
