Fostering safe food handling among consumers: Data from an online survey experiment with 1,973 consumers from Norway and the UK
<p>Data and replication codes for the article "Fostering safe food handling among consumers: Causal evidence on game- and video-based online interventions". 1,973 participants from the UK and Norway, aged 18- 89 years, were assigned to (i) a control condition, or (ii) exposed to a brief information video, or (iii) in addition played an online game (two different conditions). In all conditions, participants answered a pre-survey and seven days later a post-survey. In the survey, next to collecting some information on sociodemographic background and certain preferences, subjects reported some recent food safety behaviors and we elicited beliefs in the efficacy of certain food safety actions, as well as beliefs in myths related to food and hygiene.</p> <p>We use this data set in our publication <br> Koch, A. Voter Autrement 2022 - The Online Experiment ("Un Autre Vote'')
<p> In April 2022, we have run a voting experiment during the French presidential election. During this experiment, participants were asked to test several alternative voting methods to elect the French president, like scoring methods, instant-runoff voting, Borda with partial rankings, majority judgement and pairwise comparisons. The experiment was both carried out <em>in situ </em>in polling stations during the first round of the presidential election (using paper ballots), and online between April 8th (two days before the first round of the election) and May 7th (using a web application). A total of 2308 participants took part in the online experiment. This dataset contains the answers provided by the participants to the online experiment, with no other processsing than a basic transformation to a set of CSV files.</p> <p>The companion paper available on this repository describes the experimental protocol, the format of the files, and summarizes the precise conditions under which this dataset is available.</p>
Voter Autrement 2024 - The Online Experiment
<div> <div> <div>The election of the French representative to the European Parliament is based on a proportional representation system with a 5% threshold. Due to this threshold, votes for parties that do not reach this threshold are lost, and the corresponding voters are not represented, and not taken into account for the allocation of seats. In this context, we wanted to test alternative voting methods that could mitigate this issue by allowing voters to rank more than one list. We conducted an online voting experiment during the election of the French representative to the European Parliament in June 2024. In this experiment, participants were asked to vote with the alternative voting methods, and give their opinion. A total of 6358 participants took part to the <em>in situ</em> experiment and 37739 participants took part to the online experiment. This dataset contains the answers provided by the participants to the online experiment, with no other processsing than a basic transformation to a set of CSV files.</p> <p> </p> <p>The companion paper available on this repository describes the experimental protocol, the format of the files, and summarizes the precise conditions under which this dataset is available.</p>

Data from: Comparison of Nottingham Prognostic Index and Adjuvant Online prognostic tools in young women with breast cancer: review of a single-institution experience
Objective: Accurately predicting the prognosis of young patients with breast cancer (<40 years) is uncertain since the literature suggests they have a higher mortality and that age is an independent risk factor. In this cohort study we considered two prognostic tools; Nottingham Prognostic Index and Adjuvant Online (Adjuvant!), in a group of young patients, comparing their predicted prognosis with their actual survival. Setting: North East England. Participants: Data was prospectively collected from the breast unit at a Hospital in Grimsby between January 1998 and December 2007. A cohort of 102 young patients with primary breast cancer was identified and actual survival data was recorded. The Nottingham Prognostic Index and Adjuvant! scores were calculated and used to estimate 10-year survival probabilities. Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to demonstrate the association between the Nottingham Prognostic Index and Adjuvant! scores. A constant yearly hazard rate was assumed to generate 10-year cumulative survival curves using the Nottingham Prognostic Index and Adjuvant! predictions. Results: Actual 10-year survival for the 92 patients who underwent potentially curative surgery for invasive cancer was 77.2% (CI 68.6% to 85.8%). There was no significant difference between the actual survival and the Nottingham Prognostic Index and Adjuvant! 10-year estimated survival, which was 77.3% (CI 74.4% to 80.2%) and 82.1% (CI 79.1% to 85.1%), respectively. The Nottingham Prognostic Index and Adjuvant! results demonstrated strong correlation and both predicted cumulative survival curves accurately reflected the actual survival in young patients. Conclusions: The Nottingham Prognostic Index and Adjuvant! are widely used to predict survival in patients with breast cancer. In this study no statistically significant difference was shown between the predicted prognosis and actual survival of a group of young patients with breast cancer.

Eschewing traditional verbal reports, the study introduced a unique approach, prompting participants to assess emotional similarities between various stimuli, thereby mapping the "relational structure of emotional experiences". Findings challenge prevailing views on alexithymia, suggesting alexithymic individuals may not just lack words for feelings, but indeed possess distinct emotional experience. This innovative methodology promises not only a deeper understanding of emotional experiences across language and cultural divides but also introduces a potential diagnostic tool for alexithymia.</p>

Data from: Sex-related online behaviors, perceived peer norms and adolescents' experience with sexual behavior: testing an integrative model
Research on the role of sex-related Internet use in adolescents' sexual development has often isolated the Internet and online behaviors from other, offline influencing factors in adolescents' lives, such as processes in the peer domain. The aim of this study was to test an integrative model explaining how receptive (i.e., use of sexually explicit Internet material [SEIM]) and interactive (i.e., use of social networking sites [SNS]) sex-related online behaviors interrelate with perceived peer norms in predicting adolescents' experience with sexual behavior. Structural equation modeling on longitudinal data from 1,132 Dutch adolescents (Mage T1 = 13.95; range 11-17; 52.7% boys) demonstrated concurrent, direct, and indirect effects between sex-related online behaviors, perceived peer norms, and experience with sexual behavior. SEIM use (among boys) and SNS use (among boys and girls) predicted increases in adolescents' perceptions of peer approval of sexual behavior and/or in their estimates of the numbers of sexually active peers. These perceptions, in turn, predicted increases in adolescents' level of experience with sexual behavior at the end of the study. Boys' SNS use also directly predicted increased levels of experience with sexual behavior. These findings highlight the need for multisystemic research and intervention development to promote adolescents' sexual health.
