Major element and volatile compositons of volcanic glasses and related datasets for paleobathymetry of the Samail & Troodos ophiolites
<p>This archived dataset accompanies the article "<em>Paleobathymetry of submarine lavas in the Samail and Troodos ophiolites: insights from volatiles in glasses and implications for hydrothermal systems</em>" in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth (Belgrano et al. 2021). Comprehensive details on the aquisition and selection of this data are given in the accompanying article.</p> <p>This dataset archive consists of a multi-sheet Excel file containing: (1) Newly measured major element and H2O (± CO2) compositions for volcanic glasses recovered from the Samail ophiolite, respectively determined by electron microprobe analysis (EMPA) and Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). (2) The raw Beer-Lambert equation parameters as used to determine these H2O (± CO2) compositions. (3) The H2O (± CO2) compositions of volcanic glasses from the Troodos ophiolite reproduced from Woelki et al. (2020) together with newly calculated volatile saturation pressures and their depth equivalents. (4) A compilation of previously published volcanic glass data used to calibrate and test the paleobathymetric approach at the centre of the related publication. (5) A reference list for previously published data.</p>
Data : Planktic-benthic foraminifera ratio (%P) as a tool for the reconstruction of paleobathymetry and geohazard: A case study from Taiwan
<p>Details of the core sites used in this study, gear used for recovery, sediment horizon analyzed, coordinates, water depth and foraminiferal data for the size fractions of >125 µm and >63 µm (only a subset of all the sites). Study sites are divided into East Taiwan that comprises the Southern Okinawa Trough (1), Nanao-Hoping-Hateruma Basins (2), and Taitung-Hualien (3). The area of West Taiwan is consisted of the Gaoping (4), Changchun sand Ridge (5), and Henghun Ridge (6) sectors. Gear for recovery are Box core (BC); Gravity core (GC) and Grab (G). Italic numbers in TOC column (in red) are average values, italic numbers in the Laboratory column show the laboratory where the TOC and C/N were analysed, namely Geosciences-NTU (1) , Institute of Oceanography-NTU (2) and National Sun-yat sen University (3). NaN= no available data. </p>
Global Cenozoic Paleobathymetry with a focus on the Northern Hemisphere Oceanic Gateways
<p>We provide a set of paleobathymetric/topographic reconstructions for the Cenozoic time (66 - 0 Ma). We have re-evaluated the evolution of the Northern hemisphere oceanic gateways (i.e. the Fram Strait, Greenland – Scotland Ridge, the Central American Seaway, and the Tethys Seaway) and embedded their tectonic histories in a new global paleobathymetry and topography model. Our new paleobathymetry model incorporates Northeast Atlantic paleobathymetric variations due to Iceland mantle plume activity, updated regional plate kinematics, and models for the oceanic lithospheric age, sediment thickness, and reconstructed oceanic plateaus and microcontinents. We also provide a global paleotopography model based on new and previously published regional models.</p>
Magneto-Biostratigraphy, Paleobathymetry, and Basin Subsidence History of Taiwan Coastal Range
<p>This repository is the supplementary dataset used for sedimentary basin analysis in the Taiwan's Coastal Range. The results are about to be published in a paper titled "Extremely rapid up-and-down motions of island arc crust during arc-continent collision" by Lai et al. at the journal <em>Communications Earth & Environment. </em></p> <p>Four Microsoft Excel spreadsheets include sample information, data, and analytic results of rock paleomagnetism, calcareous nannoplankton biostratigraphy, planktonic foraminifera biostratigraphy, foraminifera-based paleobathymetry estimates, and basin subsidence analysis.</p> <p>The R scripts developed for these analyses are stored in another Zenodo repository: <a href="https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5823613">https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.5823613</a></p> <p><strong>Citation:</strong><br> If you consider using these scripts and data, please cite the following references:</p> <p>Lai, L.S.-H., Dorsey, R.J., Horng, C.-S., Chi, W.-R., Shea, K.-S., and Yen, J.-Y.
