Perceptions of heat and air pollution among older adults experiencing homelessness in Phoenix, Arizona (USA) (June 2024)
This dataset consists of survey responses from 40 older adults experiencing homelessness in Phoenix, Arizona (USA), assessing the perceptions of environmental hazards—specifically heat and air pollution—and attitudes toward coping resources and behaviors. The survey includes 51 questions co-created with community members across five categories: demographics and behavior, movement/transportation, climate perceptions, resource availability, and local knowledge mapping. Surveys were conducted indoors at a local service provider over two days in June 2024, when outdoor temperatures reached 42 degrees C and 45 degrees C. The dataset offers insights into potential public service reforms to mitigate heat and air pollution risks among Arizona’s unhoused population. The survey was approved by the Institutional Review Board of Arizona State University (IRB approval number: STUDY00018399).

We compared sighted (S) and severely visually impaired (SVI) infants’ responses to auditory and tactile stimuli presented on their hands. No statistically reliable differences in the direction or latency of responses to <a href="https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/biochemistry-genetics-and-molecular-biology/auditory-stimulation">auditory stimuli</a> emerged, but significant group differences emerged in responses to tactile and audiotactile stimuli. The visually impaired infants showed attenuated audiotactile spatial integration and interference, weighted more tactile than auditory cues when the two were presented in conflict, and showed a more limited influence of representations of the external layout of the body on tactile spatial perception.<a href="https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0960982221012513#bib20"><sup>20</sup></a> These findings uncover a distinct phenotype of multisensory spatial perception in early postnatal visual deprivation. Importantly, evidence of audiotactile spatial integration in visually impaired infants, albeit to a lesser degree than in sighted infants, signals the potential of multisensory rehabilitation methods in early development.</p> <p>Orienting responses and reaction times (RT) are reported, based on the scoring of two independent naive raters, for each trial of each subject, group (SVI/S), posture (Uncrossed/Crossed), and sensory condition (Tactile only, Auditory only, Audiotactile congruent, Audiotactile incongruent).</p> <p>Trial is the trial number, condition is the sensory condition, audio and tactile respectively refer to the side of the stimulated hand, response_status reports if the response is defined or undefined, response modality reports if the modality used by subjects to respond/not to respond to stimuli (hand, eye, both hands, no motion), group is if the subject was a sighted (S) or a severely visually impaired (SVI) infant, age_mounth is the age expressed in months, RT_rater1, RT_rater 2 and RT are respectively the RT assigned by the two raters and the merge of the two estimations (for RTs, the mean), the same organization for response_side, and for response_modality (for those variables, when the estimation of the two raters did not agree, the merged classification was set to unknown, that is uncertain/undefined).</p>
functional MRI study on the language stress perception in a foreign language
<p>fMRI dataset of 91 participants during a linguistic task about language stress perception in a foreign language.</p> <p>Participants listened to pairs of words in a foreign language (Spanish) and had to indicate if the words were the same or different. The different pairs differed either by the stress pattern, or by the final vowel.</p> <p>This dataset was divided into two groups: 51 participants with French as native language and 40 with Swiss-German as native language. None of the participants had knowledge of Spanish.</p> <p>This repository respects the BIDS standard (<a href="https://bids.neuroimaging.io/">https://bids.neuroimaging.io/</a>), including all the raw data (func, fmap, anat) and metadata in order to reproduce the processing.</p> <p>These data have been used in two papers:</p> <p>S. Swiss public's acceptance and sustainability perceptions of food produced with chemical, digital and mechanical weed control measures and the influence of information source on technology perception in agriculture
<p><span>This data was obtained from an online survey conducted with the Swiss public from the two biggest language regions (German and French) in Switzerland. The survey was conducted in February 2023. Participants were recruited through a professional panel provider and quotas were used for age, gender and language region. The final sample contained </span><span>542 respondents. </span><span>In the first part of the survey, respondents provided basic sociodemographic information. In the second part, their sustainability perceptions regarding four different weed management practices (full-surface spraying, hoeing machine, spot spraying and precise spraying) were investigated. Respondents were then assigned to one of five information source groups, in which information on a hoeing and a milking robot was presented, using 5 different information sources (male/female farmer, male/female scientist, no source). Technology perception was assessed using several questions and aspects. Finally, respondents answered several questions assessing their attitudes towards the perception of farmers, food technology neophobia, chemophobia and the importance of naturalness. The survey can be used and adapted to different contents, aiming to investigate public perception of smart farming technologies and the influence of information sources on technology perception. </span></p>
Survey data on people's forest use patterns and perceptions of border security measures in Białowieża Forest region, Poland
<p>A survey was conducted in June-July 2022 to obtain information about people's forest use patterns and opinions and feelings about border security measures (state of emergency, border zone closure, militarization) instituted in northeastern Poland starting in September 2021. Participants were informed that the survey was voluntary and anonymous. Participants were not obliged to respond to all questions and could stop the survey at any time. Survey completion and submission implied consent to participate. Participants had to be at least 18 years of age to take part in the survey. They had to be residents of the Białowieża Forest region. 100 persons participated in the survey. Of these 100 persons, 44 identified as local (born in the region). Data are coded and a key is provided. Some responses are aggregated and only responses to close-ended questions are shared, to prevent disclosure of potentially identifying information. </p>

A comparative dataset on public perceptions of multiple risks during the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy and Sweden
<p>These datasets are the result of two nation-wide surveys conducted in Italy and Sweden in August 2020 and in november 2020. The surveys (which are identical in the two rounds) explore the respondents' risk perception, preparedness, knowledge, and experience regarding a set of hazards, namely: epidemics, floods, droughts, earthquakes, wildfires, terror attacks, domestic violence, economic crises, and climate change. </p> <p>The data files include the questionnaire survey (the Italian and Swedish versions as well as the English translation) and the two datasets of all the answers to the two surveys. Each column in the dataset refers to an item in the survey (e.g. a question or a sub-question), and each row represents a single respondent. </p> <p>For additional information on the August 2020 dataset, see <a href="https://www.nature.com/articles/s41597-020-00778-7">Mondino et al. <p>This data includes raw survey data, a codebook and the survey form for the survey <em>what does it take to generate new growth? </em>The survey focused on comprehensively mapping the Finnish companies growth outlooks and their underlying management practices and principles. The study creates an overview of top managers’ views on Finnish companies’ growth, innovativeness, and the ability for renewal. It allows us to identify what sets high-growing companies apart from others. The Codebook is associated with an SPSS and CSV file including the data.</p>

An Acoustic and Optical Dataset for the Perception of Underwater Unexploded Ordnance (UXO)
<p>We present a dataset for acoustic and optical sensing of unexploded ordnance (UXO) underwater.</p> <p>UXO in the sea pose an environmental problem and a challenge for the growing offshore economy. It is best practice to perform the recovery of ammunition without explosions to protect anthropogenic structures and marine mammals. During explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), experts often rely on optical images. However, visibility underwater may be limited in harbor areas, after storm events or in waters with very mobile sediments. Thus, visual inspection is not always possible. EOD experts therefore use high-frequency sonars with large vertical apertures like the ARIS Explorer 3000 for acoustic imaging. While efforts have been made to use the available information for 3D reconstruction, existing solutions can be limited to predefined motion patterns. </p> <p>The topic is inherently sensitive, and most of the data is acquired by and for private companies and not made available to the public, which impedes research in this area. Additionally, in-situ data often lacks sufficient pose information. To facilitate further research, we created a validation dataset that was recorded in a controlled experimental environment. SolarSMART Engineering Perceptions 2019 Study
<p>SolarSMART Engineering Perceptions 2019 Study dataset provides results from a perception analysis with 42 Engineering students from an advanced Energy Technologies course at the University of Georgia regarding their perceptions of consumer adoption behaviors of multiple clean and renewable energy technologies. The dataset includes the following: demographic information for each participant, draw-a-map responses for their perceptions of where consumers adopt and do not adopt renewable and clean energy technologies (e.g., bioenergy, geothermal, solar, wave, and wind). Respondents were also asked questions about their intended plans after graduation, as well as what coursework they took as part of their studies that was not STEM in nature. </p>
