Dataset for "Design optimization of a phase-change capacitive sensor for irreversible temperature threshold monitoring and its eco-friendly and wireless implementation"

This dataset contains the data collected during the SNSF BRIDGE GREENsPACK project (Grant no. 187223) in association with the recent publication entitled “Design optimization of a phase-change capacitive sensor for irreversible temperature threshold monitoring and its eco-friendly and wireless implementation”. This work aims to study the capacitive response of a resonating capacitive device coated with phase changing material (jojoba oil) as it melts when crossing its melting temperature. Several configuration were simulated with different electrode spacing, oil volume and encapsulation thickness and the induced changes in capacitance were tested experimentaly. An eco-friendly implementation of the optimized spiral resonating devices was tested wirelessly over a custom made near field antenna and the frequency of resonance was measured as the oil melted over the structure, irreversibly changing its resonance frequency. The data that was collected in the frame of this work is present in this repository. More information about the content of the dataset is present in the included README file.

Trained Potentials for Article "Computationally Efficient Machine-Learned Model for GST Phase Change Materials via Direct and Indirect Learning"

We provide 8 files here to get started using our trained potentials:

1) *.yaml files for each trained potential. These are the outputs of the PACE training process.

2) *.yace files for each trained potential. These are read by LAMMPS to use the trained potential. They can be obtained from the *.yaml files using the command line command: "pace_yaml2yace *.yaml".

3) GST_config.data -- a starting configuration of GST to be read by LAMMPS. This configuration contains 504 atoms at density 5.85 g/cm^3.

4) sample.inp -- a sample LAMMPS input file using the trained potentials. This currently uses "ACE-Indir2.yace" to run the starting configuration "GST_config.data" for 10 ps at 1200 K. When run, it outputs a log file "test.log" and a dump file "test.dump". The choice of trained potential can be changed in the "pair_coeff" section.

Data for: Insights for modern invasion ecology from biotic changes of the Clarksville Phase of the Richmondian Invasion (Ordovician, Katian)

The frequency of biotic invasions in modern ecosystems is increasing due to global trade moving taxa outside their native ranges and climate change facilitating establishment of taxa in previously inhospitable regions. Thus, developing a holistic understanding of biotic invasions and how they impact ecosystems over different timescales—from annual to geologic time scales—is vital. Herein we examine a geologically brief invasion event, the Clarksville Phase of the Richmondian Invasion. Prior analyses have established general ecological and evolutionary patterns across the entire Richmondian Invasion, but recent sequence stratigraphic refinement makes analysis of individual invasion pulses possible for the first time. We examine biotic change across the Clarksville Phase and identify invasion impacts on diversity, paleocommunity composition, and niche stability. Invader arrival and success were strongly linked to increased propagule pressure facilitated by sea level changes. Invaders initially colonized deep subtidal environments and then moved offshore facilitated by rapid niche evolution during the invasion interval. Invasive taxa that attained the largest population sizes belonged to previously underutilized ecological guilds. Overall, the introduction of the invasive taxa resulted in increased diversity that was maintained into the post-invasion interval accompanied by a change in community composition in which the invaders became dominant paleocommunity members. Combined these analyses document a biotic invasion facilitated by climate change which increased local diversity through invaders occupying underutilized ecospace and competition-related niche contraction on millennial time scales. Developing a long-term perspective to accompany shorter-term studies facilitates predicting the long-term impacts of modern invasions and creating better-informed policies and practices.

Examining the Influence of Focal Point Location on Heat Transfer Dynamics in Phase Change Material: A Dataset Publication

Dataset including experimental data from small-scale solar facade module that consists of several components: Fresnel lens; cone-shaped air gap; aerogel (semi-transparent) as insulation layer; PCM container. Variations of the experimental settings in test setups are different cone diameter (2, 3 and 4 cm) and insulation layer thickness is (3,5 and 7cm). Nine different compositions were tested in laboratory to evaluate the ompact of focal point location. The focal point has been described with three different values that reflect its location on the inner and outer surfaces and in the middle of the PCM container. The corresponding figures can be found in the paper The Effect of Fresnel Lens Focal Point Location on Heat Transfer in Phase Change Material (PCM) Enhanced Dynamic Solar Facade.

This study has been supported by Fundamental and Applied Research project ‘Smart building EnVElope with solaR Energy STorage (EVEREST)’, project No. lzp-2019/1-0363, funded by the Latvian Council of Science.
