The Structure of the Collection of Private and State Papers of Thomas Eberhard von Ilten (1685-1758)

The dataset contains graph data representing the structure of the collection of private and state papers of the Hanoverian war commissary general and member of the privy council Thomas Eberhard von Ilten (1685-1758) in Gephi Project File format and JSON format. The Graph is designed to analyze the structure of the collection and the relevance of the contributions of family members and others. The data is based on the catalogue entries for von Ilten's private and state papers in the Kalliope database for autograph and manuscript collections (https://kalliope-verbund.info/DE-611-BF-6523). The original papers are held, digitized and catalogued at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Bibliothek in Hanover.

The Graph was created with Gephi 0.10 using the Yifan Hu algorithm. The nodes represent the collection of state and private papers of Thomas Eberhard von Ilten (pink) and its sub-sections on successive hierarchical levels (green, yellow, orange). The blue nodes represent individual manuscripts and the red nodes represent contributors. The node labels use shelf-marks for the parts of the collection with short titles for the sub-section of manuscripts. Initials are used for members of the von Ilten family (TEvI=Thomas Eberhard von Ilten, JHvI=Jobst Hermann von Ilten, EAvI=Ernst August von Ilten, JGvI=Johann Georg von Ilten). Other contributors are identified by their surname. The black edges represent the affiliation between different parts of the collection of private and state papers. Orange edges represent provenance and, in the case of manuscripts, authorship.
