Data Sets for Evaluation of the Psychometric Properties and Validity of the German Version of the Process Model of Emotion Regulation Scale (PMERQ)

Data files relate to an investigation of the psychometric properties of the German Version of the Process Model of Emotion Regulation Scale (PMERQ). Data set 1 (pmerq_1) contains information regarding the age, gender, ethnicity, and educational status of participants. In addition, responses to the 45 items of the initial translation of the 10-scale PMERQ are included. Data set 2 (pmerq_2) contains identical sociodemographic variables and responses to the 45 items of the revised translation of the 10-scale PMERQ. In addition, data set 2 contains responses to the 16-item German Interpersonal Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (IERQ), the 10-item German Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ), , the German version of the 10-item Big Five Inventory-10 (BFI-10), the 4-item German version of the Patient Health Questionnaire-4 (PHQ-4), the German version of the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), and the 17-item German Social Desirability Scale-17 (SES-17). Data set 2 (pmerq_2) contains identical sociodemographic variables and responses to the 45 items of the readability-improved translation of the 10-scale PMERQ. In addition, data set 2 contains responses to the German version of the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) and the German version of the 9-items UCLA Loneliness Scale (UCLA).

Data from: Evaluation of the psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the Oral Health Literacy Assessment in Spanish and development of a shortened form of the instrument

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of the Oral Health Literacy Assessment in Spanish (OHLA-S) for the Brazilian-Portuguese language using robust analysis and with the results disclose possibilities to develop a shorter and more valid instrument. Methods: OHLA-S is an oral health literacy instrument comprising a word recognition section and a comprehension section. It consists of 24 dental words. It was translated into the Brazilian-Portuguese language (OHLA-B) and its psychometric properties were evaluated in a random sample of 250 adults aged 20–59 years. To assess the dimensionality and factor structure were tested by means of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). Reliability was assessed using two indicators: Cronbach's alpha and McDonald's Omega. Results: EFA and CFA demonstrated that the OHLA-B with 24 items did not present an adequate adjustment of the model, compromising its validity. In addition, reliability values at 0.50 for Cronbach's alpha and 0.67 for McDonald's omega were below the minimum acceptable rate of 0.70. As no support was found for the original structure, we decided to proceed with the withdrawal of individual items and successive reanalysis of the model until the indicators were adjusted in a shorter instrument. A new structure with 15 items produced an instrument with two dimensions and a better goodness of fit than the original instrument. The Alpha and Omega reliability index values increased to 0.83 and 0.80, respectively, and all scores were better in the OLHA-B with 15 items than in the instrument with 24 items. Conclusion: OLHA-B with the original structure composed by 24 items did not show acceptable construct validity. The shorter version with 15 items showed more promising results for assessing oral health literacy levels in the Brazilian population.

Psychometric evaluation of patient assessment of chronic illness care among Korean cancer survivors

Background: The Patient Assessment of Chronic Illness Care (PACIC) was developed in the United States to assess the implementation of the Chronic Care Model (CCM)-based intervention from the patient's perspective. Although the psychometric properties of the PACIC have been reported in other chronically ill patients, it has not been reported in cancer survivors. Our aim was to evaluate the acceptability, validity, and reliability of a Korean version of the PACIC among cancer survivors (K-PACIC-CS).

Methods: Among 204 cancer survivors at a university-based hospital in South Korea, we performed psychometric evaluation of the K-PACIC-CS according to acceptability (descriptive statistics, missing values, and floor and ceiling effects), validity (confirmative factor analysis [CFA] and convergent validity), and reliability (internal consistency, i.e., Cronbach's alpha).

Results: The item response was high (missing rate = 0.5%). The floor effect was 3.9%–43.6% and the ceiling effect was 6.9%–41.2%. The CFA revealed good indices of fit and confirmed the five structures predetermined in the original version of PACIC. The K-PACIC-CS scores had significant positive relationships with cancer survivors' self-efficacy and health-related quality of life. The total K-PACIC-CS showed excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = .94) and those of the subscales were acceptable (Cronbach's alpha = .76-.86).

Conclusions: This study suggests that the K-PACIC-CS is a valid and reliable instrument for measuring implementation of CCM-based chronic care from the survivor's perspective.
