The International Soundscape Database: An integrated multimedia database of urban soundscape surveys -- questionnaires with acoustical and contextual information
<h1>Introduction</h1> <p>The International Soundscape Database contains the results of a series of soundscape assessment campaigns carried out across Europe and China. The data collection process was conducted according to the <a href="https://www.mdpi.com/2076-3417/10/7/2397">SSID Protocol [1]</a> which integrates in situ questionnaires about users' soundscape experience, with binaural recordings, sound level meter readings, and 360 degree video. The core of this database are individual soundscape questionnaires collected for 3,500+ participants completed in situ in cities across Europe and China, and the psychoacoustic analysis of 30s binaural recordings which can be matched up to each questionnaire.</p> <p>The SSID Protocol was based on the ISO 12913 standard for soundscape data collection [2]. For more information on the specifics of how this data is collected, please see [1].</p> <p>It is the intention that this dataset be added to and augmented with new locations, cities, and contexts in the future. This will be done both by the SSID team at University College London, but we also strongly welcome contributions from other researchers and practicioners. If a soundscape assessment is collected according to the SSID Protocol, it can be integrated with the rest of the database to form a large, cohesive, and ever-growing database of soundscape assessments. </p> <h2>Analysis</h2> <p>Code for exploring and analysing this dataset is included as part of the <a href="https://soundscapy.readthedocs.io/en/latest/">Soundscapy package</a>.</p> <h2>Included Files</h2> <p>This dataset incorporates surveys taken in multiple urban public spaces across several cities in Europe and China. These urban spaces include places like parks, urban squares, green spaces, and market streets. At each location, up to 100 questionnaires were collected over a series of multi-hour long sessions. Therefore the data is organised by LocationID, then SessionID, then GroupID.</p> <p>The basic directory structure and contents can be found below. </p> <h3>Survey Data (.csv)</h3> <p>'ISD v1.0 Data.csv' organises the data according to the labels given above.</p> <h3>Survey Metadata (.xlsx)</h3> <p>In addition a metadata file ('ISD v1.0 Metadata.xlsx') with photos and descriptions of each of the locations is provided. This metadata file also includes Data Dictionaries for each of the survey instrument versions included. These data dictionaries document precisely the questions asked and the available reponse labels and coding, along with the relevant translations.</p> <h3>Psychoacoustic Analysis (.csv)</h3> <p>The compiled csv file is formatted with a row for each individual participant's questionnaire response, then includes the psychoacoustic analysis of the 30s binaural recording taken while the participant was completing the questionnaire. Details about the psychoacoustic analyses is given in the 'Acoustic Settings' tab in the metadata file.</p> <p>The compiled survey and psychoacoustic analysis data is contained in 'ISD v1.0 Data.csv'. This is compiled from raw survey data files contained in 'Survey_Data', with individual cleaned survey and psychoacoustic data files included in 'Survey_Data/Interim_<date>'. The scripts for compiling this data are included in 'Scripts/'.</p> <h3>Sound Level Meter logs (.xlsx)</h3> <p>'SLM_<city>/' folders include session-long (i.e. ~3hrs) sound level meter log data in.xlsx files for each SessionID.</p> <h3>Binaural Recordings (32-bit floating point .wav)</h3> <p>'WAV_<city>/' folders include the ~30s binaural recordings in 32 bit floating point .wav format. Within each city folder are a set of LocationID folders containing their associated recordings. The wav files are titled with its GroupID, which is matched to the corresponding survey GroupIDs. </p> <h3>Cleaning and Compilation Scripts (.py)</h3> <p>Python code for cleaning and compiling the data from the raw survey data (within Survey_Data/source_data) are provided. These can be run within the provided demo notebook, or from the terminal by calling 'python -m ISDv1_main' with the relevant arguments. CATCH-EyoU: Processes in Youth's Construction of Active EU Citizenship: Wave 1 Questionnaires: Czech Republic
<p>This dataset was generated within the research project Constructing AcTive CitizensHip with European Youth: Policies, Practices, Challenges and Solutions (CATCH-EyoU) funded by European Union, Horizon 2020 Programme - Grant Agreement No 649538. Work Package 7 of this project aims to test the processes in youth’s construction of active EU citizenship on various social and psychological levels. The main file contains quantitative data from the first wave of the longitudinal survey on adolescents and young adults (age 15-26). Data collection was carried out in the Czech Republic (regions Prague, South Moravian, Moravian-Silesian, Pardubicky, Vysocina) from October to December 2016. The supplementary files contain national translations of the questionnaire for the younger (15-19) and the older (20-26) subgroups.</p>

MEDIATOR Driving Simulator Study Germany: Questionnaire Data User Evaluation HMI
<p>The dataset provided resulted from a driving simulator study conducted by Chemnitz University of Technology (TUC) within work package 3 of the MEDIATOR project. The study focused on the user evaluation of the Mediator system and its functionalities, including the innovative Human Machine interface (HMI). The user evaluation centred on acceptance, trust, usability, comfort and the experience of Transitions of Control (TOCs). The core idea of the Mediator system is to mediate between the human driver and the automated system. Thereby, the Mediator system aims at establishing both as a team that is aware of each other’s strengths, limitations as well as current states in order to achieve safe TOCs, which are actively proposed by the HMI. The main focus of the driving simulator study was on comfort TOCs from manual to automated driving, simulated automation degradation and related TOCs by the human driver, comfort critical situations (i.e., close approach to the rear-end of a traffic jam) as well as the influence of driver characteristics. The provided dataset contains the questionnaire data of 74 German-speaking participants.</p> <p> </p> <p>This document contains information about the study methodology and coding of the variables. EPOCHAL (Effects of Pollen on Cardiorespiratory Health and Allergic symptoms): Daily questionnaire (English and German)
<p>This questionnaire was developed for the EPOCHAL study (Effects of Pollen on Cardiorespiratory Health and Allergic symptoms). The study was sponsored and led by Swiss TPH in Basel, Switzerland and approved by the local ethics committee (Ethikkomission Nordwest- und Zentralschweiz EKNZ, project ID 2021-00151). Written informed consent was obtained from every participant prior to study inclusion. </p> <p>This is the "daily questionnaire" which was administered 10 times for each participant on different days during the pollen season. It includes questions about the following topics:<br> 1) Overall health status<br> 2) Allergic symptoms: nose, eyes, lungs<br> 3) Sleep, mood and quality of life<br> 4) Medication use<br> 5) Time spent outdoors<br> 6) Daily covariate information: coffee and alcohol intake, eating, smoking, vigorous exercise<br> 7) Blood pressure<br> 8) Comments</p> <p>The questionnaire is also available in German under the same DOI.</p> <p>Please note that this questionnaire was administered electronically in a browser, and contains:</p> <ul> <li>Form logic, which determines the relevance of some questions based on previous answers. Self-efficacy questionnaire for children - Results
<p>The dataset (csv) contains data from a self-efficacy questionnaire for children between the age of 6 and 16. This questionnaire (also attached) was specifially developed for the purposes of the DOIT project, which aimed at bringing entrepreneurial education, maker skills and social innovation together and at developing an educational programme lasting for at least 15 hours.</p> <p>Children participating in the DOIT progamme filled in the survey two times (pre and post survey). The dataset contains the questionnaire results from 633 children from 10 different European countries, some basic demographic (age, gender, country, disability) and some variables regarding the DOIT programme (attended hours, Age of facilitators, gender ratio of facilitator, etc.). For context information also a related DOIT report has been attached.</p>
Questionnaire data to research small-scale farmers' information sharing for adapting to climate change in Mozambique (2019-2020)
<p>Data collected from individual questionnaires with local communities of 4 districts of Mozambique in November 2019 and July 2020. It contains as well data from nine individual questionnaires to institutions (government and NGOs) working with local communities for their development.</p> <p>Data are replies from interviews containing open and closed questions about a) climate change adaptation options necessary for Mozambican small scale farmers, about b) the most used and preferred information sources of farmers, about c) the main barriers for a better exchange of information, and about d) proposals for improving it. The questionnaire can be consulted in Appendix A (in English and Portuguese). The open questions had the purpose to understand the causes and explanations about the themes presented. The closed questions followed a 0-5 likert scale approach, where 5 meant a very important factor and 0 non important one. This format was pursued for developing statistical analysis and comparison between the different types of participants. We used the same questions and format for interviewing farmers and stakeholders, although the questionnaire for farmers included also personal aspects like gender, age, and education.</p>
Travellers baseline, pre and post-questionnaires of the 1st iteration phase
<p>The dataset contains the travellers’ baseline-, pre- and post-questionnaires of the first evaluation phase of the MyCorridor project. The column pre-evaluation indicates whether the respondent took part in the baseline- or pre-questionnaires (Column B-FF). Whereas all respondents were asked to participate in the same post-questionnaire survey (Column FG-MI). The questions in the pre-questionnaires are related to the background of the respondents, mobility wants & needs, online consumer experience, MaaS awareness, MyCorridor platform pre-acceptance, computer literacy, online consumer attitude and behaviour, online shopping needs and wishes and MyCorridor platform pre-acceptance. The questions in the post-questionnaires are related to the evaluation of the app, the interaction experience, the value, usability and acceptance.</p>
Questionnaire survey among members of the Czech Pirate Party regarding the use of the online voting system Helios
<p>LimeSurvey application, where only Pirate Party members had access to the survey via a unique URL sent in an e-mail invitation that allowed members to fill out the questionnaire once. The poll ran from 22 February to 14 March 2024. 213 members out of a total of 1,179 party members completed the 19-question poll in full, a response rate of 18.6%. 16 research questions were Yes or No answers, 3 questions were socio-demographic questions focusing on gender, age and educational attainment. 47 women, 146 men and 20 respondents did not classify themselves as male or female. The age group 18-30 years included 27 respondents, 31-40 years included 93 respondents, 41-50 years included 56 respondents, 51-60 years included 24 respondents, 61-70 years included 11 respondents, 71 years and above included 2 respondents. In terms of highest completed education of the respondents, 60 have high school degree, 27 have bachelor's degree, 97 have master's degree, 13 have doctoral degree and 16 have other degree.</p>

Omnibus Poll Ukraine - August 2023 (Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation + Razumkov Centre) – Random-sample questionnaire-based representative poll
This data collection offers a representative omnibus survey of the Ukrainian population, living in territories controlled by the Ukrainian government without ongoing armed hostilities. The survey was conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation together with the sociological service of the Razumkov Center from 09 to 15 August 2023. The survey was conducted using a stratified multi-stage sample. The structure of the sample reflects the demographic structure of the adult population of the surveyed territories as of the beginning of 2022 (by age, gender, type of settlement). 2019 respondents aged 18 and older were interviewed. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%. At the same time, additional systematic sample deviations may be caused by the consequences of Russian aggression, in particular, the forced evacuation of millions of citizens. The survey covers five thematic fields: assessment of the current situation in the country, the Russian war of aggression, energy sector, corruption, volunteering. This data collection contains the original survey data. The SPSS file (.sav) is the original file provided by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation. It has been exported into an Excel file. The content of the respective xlsx-file should be identical with the original sav-file. The sav-file contains the questions and answer options of the original questionnaire in Ukrainian. The original questionnaire and an English translation are also included in this data collection as separate pdf-file. Additionally, the data collection contains three files with "selected results" which document some major results of the survey in the form of analytical summaries and descriptive statistics: two in English, covering assessment of the current situation in the country + the Russian war of aggression as well as volunteering; one in Ukrainian covering corruption. New in version 1.1: The numbering of questions in the separate questionnaire (file "DIF_CR_0823-questionnaire-revised.pdf") has been adjusted to the numbering in the original data file ("DIF_CR_0823.sav"). This data collection contains the original survey data. The SPSS file (.sav) is the original file provided by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation. It has been exported into an Excel file. The content of the respective xlsx-file should be identical with the original sav-file. The sav-file contains the questions and answer options of the original questionnaire in Ukrainian. The original questionnaire and an English translation are also included in this data collection as separate pdf-files. Additionally, the data collection contains one file with "selected results" which document some major results of the survey in the form of a analytical summaries and descriptive statistics and another file with a clarification concerning the interpretation of question 5.24 about the president's "personal responsibility" for corruption in the country. <p>The data set was generated within the research project Constructing AcTive CitizensHip with European Youth: Policies, Practices, Challenges and Solutions (CATCH-EyoU) funded by European Union, Horizon 2020 Programme - Grant Agreement No 649538. The data set is a truncated version of the adolescents’ and young adults’ survey that was carried out in Estonia from May to June 2016. It merges results of two polls (16-18 and 20-26 year olds). Survey was conducted by University of Tartu (UT) within the WP7 research activity which aims at testing processes influencing societal and political engagement of young people.</p>
