Code and Data for "Anticoncentration and state design of random tensor networks"

We investigate quantum random tensor network states where the bond dimensions scale polynomially with the system size, N. Specifically, we examine the delocalization properties of random Matrix Product States (RMPS) in the computational basis by deriving an exact analytical expression for the Inverse Participation Ratio (IPR) of any degree, applicable to both open and closed boundary conditions. For bond dimensions χ∼γN, we determine the leading order of the associated overlaps probability distribution and demonstrate its convergence to the Porter-Thomas distribution, characteristic of Haar-random states, as γ increases. Additionally, we provide numerical evidence for the frame potential, measuring the 2-distance from the Haar ensemble, which confirms the convergence of random MPS to Haar-like behavior for χ≫\sqrt{N}. We extend this analysis to two-dimensional systems using random Projected Entangled Pair States (PEPS), where we similarly observe the convergence of IPRs to their Haar values for χ≫\sqrt{N}. These findings demonstrate that random tensor networks with bond dimensions scaling polynomially in the system size are fully Haar-anticoncentrated and approximate unitary designs, regardless of the spatial dimension.

ZIRFs: zero-inflated random forests for estimating gene regulatory networks from single cell RNA-seq data (assessment of predictive accuracy and VIM stability)

We developed a zero-inflated random forests (ZIRFs) algorithm to produce a metric of connection strength between regulator genes and target genes. This file contains SCENIC results for the aorta and diaphragm tissue data sets from the Tabula Muris Consortium results. SCENIC is a genetic regulatory network analysis published by Aibar et al. (2017). The purpose of the data sets and R source code are described by README files in each directory.

Dataset for Super-Resolution Image Reconstruction based on Random-coupled Neural Network and EDSR

This dataset folder contains the DIV2K public dataset, which is utilized for model training and comprises 900 high-quality, high-resolution images along with their corresponding low-resolution versions. Additionally, all pre-trained models used in the experiment and their associated test results are publicly available.

The main directory is organized into two subfolders: one labeled "dataset," which houses the DIV2K dataset, and another named "Model_results," which contains the pre-trained models and their corresponding test outcomes. The Dataset folder includes the original DIV2K dataset (referred to as "DIV2K") as well as a channel-expanded dataset processed by the RCNN model (designated as "DIV2K-RCNN"). Within the Model_results folder, the Model_trained subfolder contains all pre-trained models employed during the experiment, while the Test_results subfolder holds the test results for each model.

Identifying mismatches between conservation area networks and vulnerable populations using spatial randomization

Grassland birds are among the most globally threatened bird groups due to substantial degradation of native grassland habitats. However, the current network of grassland conservation areas may not be adequate for halting population declines and biodiversity loss. Here, we evaluate a network of grassland conservation areas within Wisconsin, U.S.A. that includes both large Focal Landscapes and smaller targeted conservation areas (e.g., Grassland Bird Conservation Areas or GBCAs) established within them. To date, this conservation network has lacked baseline information to assess whether the current placement of these conservation areas aligns with population hotspots of grassland-dependent taxa. To do so, we fitted data from thousands of avian point-count surveys collected by citizen scientists as part of Wisconsin's Breeding Bird Atlas II with multinomial N-mixture models to estimate habitat-abundance relationships, develop spatially-explicit predictions of abundance and establish ecological baselines within priority conservation areas for a suite of obligate grassland songbirds. Next, we developed spatial randomization tests to evaluate the placement of this conservation network relative to randomly placed conservation networks. Overall, less than 20% of species statewide populations were found within the current grassland conservation network. Spatial tests demonstrated high representation of this bird assemblage within the entire conservation network, but with a bias towards birds associated with moderately tall grasses relative to those associated with short or tall grasses. We also found that GBCAs had higher representation at Focal Landscape rather than statewide scales. Here, we demonstrated how combining citizen science data with hierarchical modeling is a powerful tool for estimating ecological baselines and conducting large-scale evaluations of an existing conservation network for multiple grassland birds. Our flexible spatial randomization approach offers the potential to be applied to other protected area networks and serve as a complementary tool for conservation planning efforts globally.
