The methodology employed was based on a systematic review of documents and scientific publications related to the study object from 2004 to the present utilizing the Scopus database and the 'bibliometrix' package in the R programming language. Several decision steps were followed to ensure the reliability and validity of the analysis. The findings allowed for the identification of the most cited journals, the most prominent authors, and the most common affiliations among the authors of the analyzed documents. Additionally, different models of learning style preferences and their impact on the teaching process were explored. The findings contribute significantly to understanding the dynamics of research in the studied discipline. Regarding the most cited journals, "Computers & Education" was found to be the leading journal in terms of the total number of citations, followed by "Educational Research Review" and "Learning and Instruction". As for the most prominent authors, several relevant names were identified, such as David Kolb, Richard Felder, and Peter Honey. Regarding the most common affiliations among the authors, it was found that several Spanish universities lead this list. On the other hand, this study explored different learning style models and their impact on the educational process. It was found that there is a wide variety of theoretical models on learning style, but there is no clear consensus on which model is best to apply in an educational context. However, the importance of considering students' learning styles to adapt the educational process to their individual needs was highlighted. In conclusion, this bibliometric analysis provides an overview of the current state of ILS research and can be useful for researchers, educators, and professionals interested in this field. The obtained results can also be used to identify current trends in ILS research and to guide future investigations in this area.

A dataset containing written reflections of 57 university students from several German universities and fields of study on their participation in collaborative research-based learning focused on sustainability topics and using videos as a research tool. These reflections were guided by given questions. The texts presented here are transcripts of spoken texts of self-video-casts, written down by the students themselves. The texts were graded as part of an inter-university elective course worth 1-3 credit points.

Do Synthesis Centers Synthesize? A Semantic Analysis of Topical Diversity in Research

Synthesis centers are a form of scientific organization that catalyzes and supports research that integrates diverse theories, methods and data across spatial or temporal scales to increase the generality, parsimony, applicability, or empirical soundness of scientific explanations. Synthesis working groups are a distinctive form of scientific collaboration that produce consequential, high-impact publications. But no one has asked if synthesis working groups synthesize: are their publications substantially more diverse than others, and if so, in what ways and with what effect? We investigate these questions by using Latent Dirichlet Analysis to compare the topical diversity of papers published by synthesis center collaborations with that of papers in a reference corpus. Topical diversity was operationalized and measured in several ways, both to reflect aggregate diversity and to emphasize particular aspects of diversity (such as variety, evenness, and balance). Synthesis center publications have greater topical variety and evenness, but less disparity, than do papers in the reference corpus. The influence of synthesis center origins on aspects of diversity is only partly mediated by the size and heterogeneity of collaborations: when taking into account the numbers of authors, distinct institutions, and references, synthesis center origins retain a significant direct effect on diversity measures. Controlling for the size and heterogeneity of collaborative groups, synthesis center origins and diversity measures significantly influence the visibility of publications, as indicated by citation measures. We conclude by suggesting social processes within collaborations that might account for the observed effects, by inviting further exploration of what this novel textual analysis approach might reveal about interdisciplinary research, and by offering some practical implications of our results.

Systematic Review on the Research Topic "Learning Ecologies" - Dataset and Analysis

The concept of learning ecologies (Barron, 2004, 2006; Williams, 2011) emerged in a context of educational change. In such context, there was emphasis on searching models and applications facing the new forms of learning as continuum from structured, formal spaces to fluid, informal spaces, with the support of digital technologies (Sangra, Gonzalez-Sanmamed, & Guitert, 2013; Tabuenca, Ternier, & Specht, 2013).

While the construct “learning ecologies” has offered a broad semantic space to characterize innovative ways of learning, it is also true that its potential to promote innovative educational interventions could have been hindered by its same broadness. According to this assumption, the authors have carried out a systematic review of the literature with the aim of analyzing a) the several definitions given to the concept, encompassing the underlying ontological perspective on the phenomena studied; b) the methodological approaches adopted to study the phenomenon; c) the applications of the research on this topic. Throughout this analysis, the authors attempt to represent the criticalities of the existing research, as well as the potential areas of development with fruitful alignment of the theoretical/ontological issues, the methodological approaches and the educational applications.

The current dataset introduces all the stages of data analysis: from the 337 articles identified (covering the period 1991-2018, containing the key term “learning ecolog*” and selected from 5 relevant scientific databases in the area of education: SCOPUS, ISI WOS, DOAJ, EDITLIB, ERIC) to the final group of 84 papers which were analyzed.

Each article was coded according to a set of 20 categories developed by the authors on theoretical basis.

The dataset presents:

A) The Codebook with the categories used to code each article

B) The first, raw selection of articles from each database

C) The second integrated dataset will the articles merged, without overlaps

D) The third final database where the articles were coded; each row reprents an article. Data filters have been applied to facilitate dynamic searches and explore the categories.

E) The PRISMA workflow, with the data extracted from A,B,C

F) The tables adopted to make the Kappa calculations

G) Some pivot tables with data analysis extracted D
