Social-Ecological Dynamics of Recreational Fishery Landscapes: Recreational angler catch and satisfaction in the Midwest, 2018 to 2024

The goal of this dataset is to understand angler information gathering and sharing, technology use, expectation-setting, site choice, and the factors influencing angler satisfaction in rural and urban environments. These data were collected through on-site creel surveys and instantaneous counts of fishing effort and associated angler vehicles. Traditional creel surveys are completed only at the end of an angler's fishing trip. These dual-intercept creel survey data are novel because anglers were intercepted both before and after their fishing trip. This survey design allowed us to collect unbiased estimates of anglers' expected catch. These data can be used to understand the role of angler expectations in angler satisfaction and behavior. Data collection were conducted in two counties in Wisconsin, USA. Vilas County is a primarily rural, forested, and glaciated region with many relatively small lakes. Dane County has a larger urban center (Madison, WI) that is surrounded by agricultural areas. Most of the Dane County lakes surveyed were part of the Yahara chain of lakes: Lakes Mendota, Monona, Wingra, Waubesa, and Kegonsa. Dane county has fewer, larger lakes with greater connectivity to each other. Vilas County was sampled in the summer of 2018, the summer of 2019, and the summer and winter of 2022. Dane County was sampled in the winter and summer of 2022.

A framework for step-wise explaining how to solve constraint satisfaction problems

<p>We explore the problem of step-wise explaining how to solve constraint satisfaction problems, with a use case on logic grid puzzles. More specifically, we study the problem of explaining the inference steps that one can take during propagation, in a way that is easy to interpret for a person. Thereby, we aim to give the constraint solver explainable agency, which can help in building trust in the solver by being able to understand and even learn from the explanations. The main challenge is that of finding a sequence of simple explanations, where each explanation should aim to be as cognitively easy as possible for a human to verify and understand. This contrasts with the arbitrary combination of facts and constraints that the solver may use when propagating. We propose the use of a cost function to quantify how simple an individual explanation of an inference step is, and identify the explanation-production problem of finding the best sequence of explanations of a CSP. Our approach is agnostic of the underlying constraint propagation mechanisms, and can provide explanations even for inference steps resulting from combinations of constraints. In case multiple constraints are involved, we also develop a mechanism that allows to break the most difficult steps up and thus gives the user the ability to zoom in on specific parts of the explanation. Our proposed algorithm iteratively constructs the explanation sequence by using an optimistic estimate of the cost function to guide the search for the best explanation at each step. Our experiments on logic grid puzzles show the feasibility of the approach in terms of the quality of the individual explanations and the resulting explanation sequences obtained.</p>

<p>A cross-sectional study with 30 Thai preteen CLP patients aged between 8 to 12-year-old was undertaken between 2017 and 2019 at Tawanchai center. Their satisfaction with QoL was reflected through an interview and a questionnaire with the cooperation of their parents as their caregivers while satisfaction with their nasolabial appearance was from the evaluation of five experts who compared their photos with those of normal faces to determine correlation values of the nasolabial appearance from 5-rating scales using Fleiss&rsquo;s kappa coefficient scores.</p>

Dataset and Data Dictionary for "Enhancing Consumer Satisfaction in Live Commerce: A Study of Middle-Aged Women's Cosmetics Purchases Using TAM, PVT, and SIT Models

<p>This dataset is part of a study investigating the underexplored factors driving middle-aged Chinese women&rsquo;s purchasing behavior in live commerce, particularly in the context of their decision-making amidst the rapid expansion of e-commerce. The study employs a comprehensive theoretical framework based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Perceived Value Theory (PVT), and Social Influence Theory (SIT).</p> <p>Data were collected through a structured survey administered to 653 women aged 40 to 59. The dataset captures key variables including ease of use, pricing, consumer trust, platform interactivity, and purchase satisfaction. These variables are essential for understanding the complex relationships that influence purchasing decisions in live-stream shopping environments.</p> <p>The dataset has been analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), revealing that factors such as ease of use, perceived value from competitive pricing, consumer trust, and real-time platform interactivity significantly enhance purchase satisfaction. Moreover, the results demonstrate that perceived value moderates these relationships, amplifying their effects under conditions of high perceived value.</p> <p>This dataset provides valuable insights into the psychological and social factors that shape e-commerce behavior, offering implications for optimizing platform design to promote consumer trust and long-term engagement.</p> <p>Keywords: Live commerce, Middle-aged women, Purchasing behavior, Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Perceived Value Theory (PVT), Social Influence Theory (SIT), Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), Consumer trust, E-commerce.</p>

MACHINE LEARNING APPROACHES FOR DEMAND FORECASTING: THE IMPACT OF CUSTOMER SATISFACTION ON PREDICTION ACCURACY

<p><span>This study investigates the effectiveness of various machine learning models in predicting product demand based on customer satisfaction data. Four models&mdash;Linear Regression, Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, and Support Vector Machine (SVM)&mdash;were evaluated using performance metrics, including Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Mean Squared Error (MSE), Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE), and R&sup2; score. The results indicate that Gradient Boosting achieved the highest accuracy, with an MAE of 2.56, MSE of 12.75, RMSE of 3.57, and R&sup2; score of 0.82, effectively capturing the complex, non-linear relationships inherent in customer satisfaction factors. Random Forest also demonstrated strong performance, while Linear Regression and SVM showed limitations in handling intricate datasets. These findings underscore the importance of utilizing advanced machine learning techniques for accurate demand forecasting, highlighting the critical role of customer satisfaction data in enhancing predictive capabilities. The insights gained from this research can guide organizations in optimizing inventory management and improving customer satisfaction in a rapidly evolving market.</span></p>

Ihave a group of friends with which Ibackpack (trek) into the mountains. Our goal was to spend some time in the mountains and hike to the top of Olancha Peak (…) By the time we reached the meadow, we were in a forest and there was still snow on the ground in some places. We took the trip in June of 2006. The Sierra Nevada Mountains are a large mountain range. Much of the range is protected by national parks or preserved areas we call 'wilderness areas' (…) Ihave been backpacking for nearly 40 years and Iwill hopefully continue with this challenging activity for 40 years more! Many of my friends are much younger than Iam and it gives me much satisfaction to be able to have as much or more stamina for this activity than they have! When we are on these trips, we hike up peaks, catch fish, drink some whiskey around campfires and enjoy our time in the beautiful solitude. My memories of this trip were of the steep, hot hike from the desert to the cool meadow; the overall beauty of the nature, the absolute solitude of our campsite near the meadow; the strenuous hike to the top of Olancha Peak; the camaraderie of my friends; and, of course the sound of the frogs in the meadow. The frog sounds were astounding to me and Iwould listen in awe of the creature's instinctual desire to reproduce and continue the existence of their kind. Relationships between needs satisfaction and the quality of motivation with academic engagement in pre-service physical education teachers

<p><span>Academic engagement has been identified as a key determinant in the learning process. Although research on initial teacher education has focused on understanding the mechanism that can foster strong academic engagement, little is known about the roles that basic psychological need satisfaction and academic motivation may perform. The objective of this research was to examine the predictive relationships between basic psychological need satisfaction (i.e., autonomy, competence, relatedness, and novelty) and academic engagement, considering the role of academic motivation. A cross-sectional and non-randomized design was used. A total of 920 students (61.8% male; <em>M</em><sub>age </sub>= 24.73; <em>SD </em><sub>age </sub>=5.34) participated from different universities. The results from structural equation modelling revealed that competence and novelty satisfaction significantly and positively predicted academic engagement. Autonomous motivation significantly mediated the association of competence and autonomy satisfaction with academic engagement. This research underscores the importance of considering competence and autonomy satisfaction as facilitators of autonomous motivation and academic engagement in pre-service teachers. </span></p>

Compassion Fatigue and Compassion Satisfaction among Registered Nurses Caring for Cancer Patients: An Explorative Survey

<p>Compassion fatigue is a complex phenomenon, increasingly studied by health services. In addition to the analysis of the phenomenon, studies also consider the factors that influence the satisfaction deriving from nursing work, characterized by the compassion inherent in the relationship with the patient, in addition to the associated fatigue and the consequent risk of Burnout. . The aim of this study, conducted at the IOV - Veneto Oncology Institute in Padua, is to describe Compassion Fatigue and Compassion Satisfaction in nurses working in oncology, where the work requires a strong degree of sensitivity. An exploratory cross-sectional survey was conducted on a convenience sample of nurses from homogeneous medical and surgical areas who work with cancer patients. A validated Italian version of the Professional Quality of Life Scale: Compassion Satisfaction and Fatigue was applied. Socio-demographic and professional classification variables were also recorded.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

Enhancing research informatics core user satisfaction through agile practices

<p><strong>Objective:</strong> The Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) Research Informatics Shared Resource (RISR), a software and database development core facility, sought to address a lack of published operational best practices for research informatics cores. It aimed to use those insights to enhance effectiveness after an increase in team size from 20 to 31 full-time equivalents coincided with a reduction in user satisfaction.</p> <p><strong>Materials and Methods:</strong> RISR migrated from a water-scrum-fall model of software development to agile software development practices, which emphasize iteration and collaboration. RISR's agile implementation emphasizes the product owner role, which is responsible for user engagement and may be particularly valuable in software development that requires close engagement with users like in science.</p> <p><strong>Results: </strong>All RISR's software development teams implemented agile practices in early 2020. All project teams are led by a product owner who serves as the voice of the user on the development team. Annual user survey scores for service quality and turnaround time recorded nine months after implementation increased by 17% and 11%, respectively.</p> <p><strong>Discussion:</strong> RISR is illustrative of the increasing size of research informatics cores and the need to identify best practices for maintaining high effectiveness. Agile practices may address concerns about the fit of software engineering practices in science. The study had one time point after implementing agile practices and one site, limiting its generalizability.</p> <p><strong>Conclusion:</strong> Agile software development may substantially increase a research informatics core facility's effectiveness and should be studied further as a potential best practice for how such cores are operated.</p>

Satisfaction with Telemedicine for Cancer Pain Management: A Model of Care and Cross-Sectional Patient Satisfaction Study

<p>Background: Since cancer pain requires complex modalities of care, the proper strategy for addressing its telemedicine-based management should be better defined. This study aimed to trace a pathway for a progressive implementation of the telemedicine process for the treatment of pain in the setting of cancer patients. Methods: The features of the model were investigated to dissect the dropout from the telemedicine pathway. A cross-sectional patient satisfaction study was conducted. The degree of satisfaction was evaluated through a developed 22-item questionnaire (Likert scale 0&ndash;7). Results: A total of 375 video consultations for 164 patients (mean age 62.9 years) were performed through remote consultations for cancer pain management between March 2021 and February 2022. After the exclusion of 72 patients, 92 (56.1%) were included in the analysis. The dropout ratio was 8.7%. The number of visits and pharmacological therapies for neuropathic pain correlated with the risk for readmission (p&nbsp;&lt; 0.05). Overall, the satisfaction was very high (mean &gt; 5.5 for all items). Conclusion: Feedback from patients reflected high satisfaction rates with the care provided. A methodological approach based on the degree of satisfaction combined with the analysis of the pathways can help to implement the quality of a service provided through telemedicine. While not without limitations, our hybrid protocol can be useful for addressing cancer pain through a patient-centered approach.</p>
