Digital Humanities Retrieval Evaluation Dataset for Art, Architecture and Life Sciences (DHREAAL)

This dataset, titled "Digital Humanities Retrieval Evaluation Dataset for Art, Architecture, and Life Sciences," emphasizes semantic retrieval, including ground truth data for both content-based and instance-based image retrieval. Utilized to compare various promising approaches and refine the evaluation method, this dataset serves as a precursor to a more extensive dataset. Additional details can be found in the dataset's related publication.

Currently, the dataset is still under development. In its next iteration, the dataset will include options for retrieving image syntax and temporal aspects, in addition to the semantics.

Data Science in Arts and Humanities. What is useful data?

This recording took place during the DHCH2023 event in Rome on June 5-7 in 2023.

This event focuses on data science in the arts and the humanities. Flagship projects about text recognition, accessibility and digital sustainability of cultural heritage will be presented, and state-of-the-art methods in regard to 3D digitization will be introduced. The inalienable benefits of this research are explored, and the potential of these interventions is examined. And what about common criticism?

The DHCH initiative provides a network to discuss the rich aspects of Digital Humanities, open up the perspective to the wide horizon of digital practices and support digital humanities approaches in arts, humanities and cultural heritage. The interdisciplinary digital humanities event DHCH@ISR brings together international experts, doctoral students, advanced researchers, and cultural heritage institutions. Science Communication Webinar Series: The Art of Pitching Presentation

Blue-Action are coordinating a series of webinars on climate science communication in 2020. These are aimed at early-career researchers, but anyone who wishes to engage people with their research at any stage will find them valuable.

This webinar was delivered on 21st August 2020 by Thomas Simon Oleson, who is an Entrepreneurship Manager at EIT Climate-KIC. Thomas has worked with businesses and start-ups for over 8 years. Here he describes how to pitch your work to stakeholders with visual and verbal style.

What is Open Science Word Art

On August 11th 2022, TOPS held a community forum during which Mentimeter was used to collect anonymous survey data from the participants. Using the responses to the question, "In your own words, how do you define open science?", NASA Transform to Open Science created a word art diagram to show key issues.

Monitoring of solar irradiation at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts

Global and diffuse irradiation data as monitored at the Horw campus of Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts. The data is stored in a tabular format at intervals of one minute. The monitoring station comprises two Kipp and Zonen CMP11 pyranometers, equipped with ventilation units. Diffuse irradiation is measured employing a manually adjusted shadow ring.

Data from: Science-graphic art partnerships to increase research impact
Graphics are becoming increasingly important for scientists to effectively communicate their findings to broad audiences, but most researchers lack expertise in visual media. We suggest collaboration between scientists and graphic designers as a way forward and discuss the results of a pilot project to test this type of collaboration.
