Two-time correlation function based on speckle patterns from x-ray photon correlation spectroscopy associated with "Intermittent cluster dynamics and temporal fractional diffusion in a bulk metallic glass" (scientific article published in Nature Communications, 2024)

This dataset consists of contrast data, i.e., the two-time correlation function, based on speckle patterns measured at the at the 8ID-E beamline of the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory.

Experimental details are stated in the paper specified under "related work" and in the accompanying supplementary information.

You are welcome to use this dataset in compliance with the CC BY 4.0 licence assigned to this dataset.

Any questions regarding the data can be addressed to birte.riechers@bam.de who would also appreciate a note if you find the data useful.

____________________________________________________________________

The data consists of 32 text files in total, which correspond to the main and lower panel Figure 2 of the main publication.

30 of these text files are contrast data, which are named "contrast_DT250s_nn.text" wiith "nn" as the identifier of consecutive data sets going from 1 to 30. Each data set consists of p rows and q columns, DT250s denotes the time resolution of data points, which is 250 s along both row and column values.

The data set called "Time_Contrast_1to30s.txt" states the start time in seconds of the first data point of each of the thirty contrast data set.

The data set called "ScatteredIntensity.txt" states the scattered intensity at full time resolution, i.e. 2.5 s.

The files are plain text files with the data points separated by "space" along rows and "new line" along columns.

PreprintMatch: a tool for preprint publication detection applied to analyze global inequities in scientific publishing

Dataset underlying the paper "PreprintMatch: a tool for preprint publication detection applied to analyze global inequities in scientific publishing." preprint-paper-matches.csv lists all matches found by our algorithm between bioRxiv/medRxiv and PubMed, and preprint_affiliations.csv lists all extracted affiliations from bioRxiv/medRxiv. The Rxivist data dump (https://zenodo.org/record/4738007) was used for all preprint data, and the scrips to download PubMed data are available on our GitHub repository, https://github.com/PeterEckmann1/preprint-match.

The full database dump, with all data used in the study, is available on Google Drive at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZoafhYUP-DO4Hd_4A_v7mbQLjN3JPzJv/view?usp=sharing. The PostgreSQL database can be restored using the pg_restore command.

Coral growth data from Dongsha Atoll - published in DeCarlo et al. (2017) in Scientific Reports

Coral growth data (annual extension, density, and calcification) for massive Porites corals from the eastern reef flat and lagoon of Dongsha Atoll, South China Sea. The data are derived from computed tomography (CT) scans of coral skeletons. Please cite the following paper when using these data:

DeCarlo, T. M. et al. Mass coral mortality under local amplification of 2 °C ocean warming. Sci. Rep 7, 44586 (2017).

Overview of Research Data Sharing Policies Across Various Scientific Publishers

Context

With the aim of advancing trust in published research, (scientific) publishers are developing Research Data Sharing Policies for their portfolio. Some publishers have the same policy across all journals. For example for the publishers Frontiers and Springer-Nature, a Data Availability statement is mandatory for all journals in their portfolio. While other publishers have different policy levels depending on the journal (e.g. Elsevier, American Chemical Society). In this list, one will find a short overview of Research Data Sharing Policies across publishers (mostly relevant to the Faculty of Science at Utrecht University).

Limitations

The list of publishers does not encompass all scientific publishers. Some Research Data Sharing Policies might be subjected to change.

Anything goes? – On the EU initiative for a greater diversity of scientific publishing platforms

Over the last 50 years reseachers has been facing opposing incentives: On one hand University Management has urged them to focus on publishing their work in international scientific journals readable only to peers, since only such publications would lead to promotions and tenures. On the other hand politicians, journalists and the public has a legitimate claim for researchers to justify themselves and their work in the public arena. Now the EU commission has drafted an agreement to be signed by the European universities in the autumn 2022. One of the intentions of the agreement is to establish incentives for researchers to publish on other platforms and in other formats. Another goal is to move away from irresponsible use of metrics and university rankings when assessing researcher and research quality.
