Berlin Sparql Benchmark (BSBM): Evolving Graph Simulation

The Berlin SPARQL Benchmark (BSBM) is a suite of benchmarks built around an e-commerce use case [1]. We generated 21 versions of the dataset with different scale factors. The first dataset, with a scale factor of 100, contains about 7,000 vertices and 75,000 edges. We generated versions with scale factors between 2,000 and 40,000 in steps of 2,000. The largest dataset contains about 1.3 M vertices and 13 M edges. For our experiments in [2], we first use the different versions ordered from smallest to largest (version 0 to 20) to simulate a growing graph database. Subsequently, we reverse the order to emulate a shrinking graph database. Over all versions, the mean degree is 8.1 (+- 0.5), the mean in-degree is 4.6 (+- 0.3), and the mean out-degree is 9.8 (+- 0.2).

1. Christian Bizer, Andreas Schultz: The Berlin SPARQL Benchmark. Int. Medieval manuscripts and their migrations: Using SPARQL to investigate the research potential of an aggregated Knowledge Graph

This dataset contains the SPARQL queries presented and discussed in our article published in Digital Medievalist 2022 (as a PDF file), together with the results of those queries as CSV files. The query and step numbering follows that given in the article.

The queries can be run against the SPARQL endpoint for the Mapping Manuscript Migrations project: https://ldf.fi/mmm/sparql

The full Mapping Manuscript Migrations dataset can also be downloaded from the Zenodo repository and installed in your own triple store: https://zenodo.org/record/4440464

When copying and pasting these SPARQL queries into a SPARQL client like YASGUI, please check that the line numbering has been copied over correctly. Copying from a PDF file can sometimes break a single long line into multiple separate lines, which will cause a SPARQL validation error.

The CSV files contain the results of the queries when run against the Mapping Manuscript Migrations SPARQL endpoint as of 17 December 2021. Please note that Query 2, Step 2, produces no results, so a CSV file has not been provided.

The Mapping Manuscript Migrations portal can be found at https://mappingmanuscriptmigrations.org/en/

SPARQL tutorials are included in the project's GitHub documentation: https://mapping-manuscript-migrations.github.io/

Demonstration of semantic and inter-input constraints on software in OWL 2 and SPARQL for fulfilling the M1 Machine FAIR Use Case

This video demonstrates using hypothetical examples how to (1) find a valid dataset for input into a software using OWL 2 classification inference, (2) validly combine two software using OWL 2 subsumption inference to infer that the output of software 1 is valid input to software 2, and (3) combine OWL 2 inference with a SPARQL query to find two datasets that satisfy a software's inter-input constraints.

BSBM v3.1 SPARQL benchmark pre-generated files

Data files generated from the Berlin SPARQL Benchmark v3.1.

The following files are available:

dataset-X.nt.bz2 are the RDF files containing the benchmark dataset. They are built with the generator provided with the benchmark and all parameters left to their default values except the number of products (-pc option) set to X.

explore-X.csv.bz2, exploreAndUpdate-X.csv.bz2 and businessIntelligence-X.csv.bz2 are the various query use cases to be run on the corresponding dataset-X.nt.bz2. They are generated with all parameters left to their default values. The first 1250 queries for the explore and exploreAndUpdate use cases and the first 750 queries of the businessIntelligence use case are warm-up queries. The queries are encoded in CSV files, with an "id" column containing the query identifier (1, 2, 3...), a "kind" column being "query" or "update" (for SPARQL updates in the update use case), and a "content" column with the query itself.

All files are compressed using bzip2.

The script used to generate the file is available on GitHub.

RDF models and SPARQL queries for decoupled analytics demonstration

This directory contains the following:

- Two sets of RDF triples using different ontologies, modeling the same "MZVAV-2" air handling unit from the data inventory by Granderson et al. [1].

- SPARQL queries for retrieving inputs to APAR [2] rules.

- SPARQL queries for discovering "data links" from the models, connecting data points to time series providers.

The models were created by manually writing the triples. For details, see included README.md

[1] J. Granderson, G. Lin, A. Harding, P. Im, Y. SPARQLing Geodesy for Cultural Heritage – New Opportunities for Publishing and Analysing Volunteered Linked (Geo-)Data

SUMMARY

Geodesists are working in Industry 4.0 and Spatial Information Management by using cross linked machines, people and data. Moreover, open source software, open geodata and open access are becoming increasingly important. As part of the Semantic Web, Linked Open Data (LOD) must be created and published in order to provide free open geodata in interoperable formats. With this semantically structured and standardised data it is easy to implement tools for GIS applications e.g. QGIS. In these days, the world’s Cultural Heritage (CH) is being destroyed as a result of wars, sea-level rise, floods and other natural disasters by climate change. Several transnational initiatives try to preserve our CH via digitisation initiatives. As best practice for preserving CH data serves the Ogi Ogam Project with the aim to show an easy volunteered approach to modelling Irish `Ogam Stones` containing Ogham inscriptions in Wikidata and interlinking them with spatial information in OpenStreetMap and (geo)resources on the web.
