Canterbury Museum (CMNZ) collection insect specimen-plant flower interactions
<p>This dataset compromises insect-plant flower interactions recorded from the entomology collections of Canterbury Museum, New Zealand (CMNZ). All invertebrate records were extracted from the Museum Vernon database. This included field collection metadata indicating if an insect and plant flower interaction had occurred. A large proportion of records are specimens collected as part of research by Richard Primack in the 1970s, from insects collected from flowering inflorences. Data was cleaned using OpenRefine v.3.6.2. Insect and plant names were reconciled using the GlobalNames extension in OpenRefine. Data was prepared for submission to the Global Biotic Interaction (GloBI) network.</p> <p>This data makes part of a paper submission to the Journal of Applied Entolomolgy Call for Papers on neglected insects pollinators. If accepted this publication will be linked to this dataset.</p> <p>This version included name updates for insect species, spreadsheet data used to produce summary statistics for the manuscript submission and the README file.</p>
Digital image correlation measurement of linear elastic steel specimen
<p>The dataset comprises the axial and lateral displacements on the surface of a plate with a hole subjected to tensile load. The displacement data are measured by digital image correlation and the material is assumed to behave linear elastic. The material under investigation is a common low-carbon steel alloy of type S235. The displacement data are used for calibration of a linear elastic constitutive model using parametric physics-informed neural networks and finite elements. For that purpose, the dataset comprises both the raw experimental displacement data and displacement data interpolated onto a regular grid using linear interpolation, where the interpolation routine is provided as well.</p>
Survey of high marsh plant structure and biomass for Spartina, Juncus, Borrichia and Batis specimens on Sapelo Island, Georgia during May to June 2015
From May 29th to June 27th of 2015, plant specimens of Spartina, Juncus, Borrichia, and Batis were extracted from Georgia Coastal Ecosystems Study Site 6 and brought to the UGA Marine Institute research center for structural and biomass measurements. The focus of the structural measurements were to capture the top-down horizontal length and branching angles of rhizomes connecting the above-ground plant shoots. The height of plant shoots were also measured, along with the dry-weight mass of all measured plant components. The purpose of these measurements was to provide data that will be the basis for parameter values used in the Virtual Prairie agent-based model for clonal plant growth and competition. Hyperspectral X-ray CT datasets for a set of multiply-stained mouse limb specimens
<p><strong>General Data description:</strong></p> <p>The following are hyperspectral (energy-resolved) X-ray CT datasets for a set of mouse limb specimens, each stained with multiple contrast agents. All scans were acquired with an energy-sensitive HEXITEC detector in the Henry Moseley X-ray Imaging Facility at The University of Manchester.</p> <p>The following data contains all the files necessary for reconstruction of each dataset. The biological specimens were produced as they each contain multiple contrast agents, with distinct spectral markers. When measured by an energy-sensitive detector, each contrast agent may be identified and segmented individually following spectral analysis. A mouse hindlimb was double-stained with elemental iodine and BaSO<sub>4</sub>. A mouse forelimb was triple-stained with I<sub>2</sub>KI, BaSO<sub>4 </sub>and PTA.</p> <p><strong>File descriptions:</strong></p> <p>Contained are two HDF5 (.h5) data files, as well as two (.txt) metadata files and a MATLAB (.mat) file.</p> <p>Hindlimb_scan_parameters.txt provides the full sample and detector geometry of the scan acquisition for the double-stained hindlimb.</p> <p>Forelimb_scan_parameters.txt provides the full sample and detector geometry of the scan acquisition for the triple-stained forelimb.</p> <p>DS_Mouse_hindlimb_sinogram.h5 contains the full 4D sinogram constructed following flatfield normalisation of the raw projection data for the double-stained hindlimb specimen. The 4D array contains the total number of energy channels acquired during scanning, followed by vertical and horizontal pixel number, and finally total projections angles acquired. In addition, a ring artefact reduction filter was applied.</p> <p>TS_Mouse_forelimb_sinogram.h5 contains the full 4D sinogram constructed following flatfield normalisation of the raw projection data for the triple-stained forelimb specimen. The 4D array contains the total number of energy channels acquired during scanning, followed by vertical and horizontal pixel number, and finally total projections angles acquired. In addition, a ring artefact reduction filter was applied.</p> <p>Energy_axis.mat provides a direct conversion between the energy channels, and the energies (in keV) that they correspond to, following a calibration procedure prior to scanning.</p>

FIB-SEM tomograms of the steel-concrete interface of mortar and concrete specimens
