A 3D kinetic Monte Carlo study of streamer discharges in CO2

The dataset contains compilable files and input files for the paper "A 3D kinetic Monte Carlo study of streamer discharges in CO2".

Data files related to radio emission from streamer discharges

Radio emission from streamer discharges

This dataset contains files related to the paper "Calculating radio emissions of positive streamer phenomena using 3D simulations" by Malla et al. The content is described below.

experimental_radio_emission & experimental_current_change

This dataset includes: 1) discharge images in .tif files, and 2) waveforms recorded by oscilloscope in .trc files. (C1: voltage, C2: current, C3: ICCD monitor, C4: antenna. Traces No.0 are waveforms without discharge.)

jefimenko_code
This directory contains the code used to convert simulation output to radiated fields. After simulation output is stored, time derivatives are computed using `convert_silo_files.sh`. The `jefimenko.f90` code is then used to compute radiated electric fields. These two steps can be combined as in the script `convert_and_compute_emission.sh`.

computed_radiated_fields
This directory contains the radiated electric fields versus time as computed by the above procedure.

simulation_config_files
This directory contains configuration files that can be used to reproduce the simulation results with the [afivo-streamer](https://github.com/MD-CWI/afivo-streamer) simulation code (commit 016d497, newer should also work).

simulation_log_files
This directory contains the log files produced by the simulations, which contain information on e.g. the maximal electric field, the total amount of dissipated energy, the number of grid cells etc.

Effects of a negative corona discharge on subsequent positive streamers

Data Description for "Effects of a negative corona discharge on subsequent positive streamers":

1. ICCD files_long exposure: pictures of streamers in 80 mbar air and nitrogen with 500 ns exposure.

2. ICCD files_short exposure: pictures of streamers in 80 mbar air and nitrogen with 50 ns exposure.

3. waveforms: the oscilloscope waveforms streamers and corona discharge in 80 mbar air.

Quantitative modeling of streamer discharge branching in air

Streamer discharges are the primary mode of electric breakdown of air in lightning and high voltage technology. Streamer channels branch many times, which determines the developing tree-like discharge structure. We simulate branching of positive streamers in air using a 3D fluid model with stochastic photoionization. The distributions of branching angles and branching locations agree quantitatively with dedicated experiments. The simulated branching is remarkably sensitive to the photoionization coefficients, which confirms the validity of the classical photoionization model.

A comparison of particle and fluid models for positive streamer discharges in air

This dataset consists of files used to produce the data presented in the article "A comparison of particle and fluid models for positive streamer discharges in air". This dataset includes 1) source code for both particle and fluid simulations 2) input data files, which are actually cross section for particle simulations and transport data for fluid simulations. 3) configuration files for running all simulations; 4) outputted log files of the simulations.
